The Unsurpassed Maiden

"What? But that kid is too young! I saw her earlier and I'm pretty sure she's too young to be able to master the art of invisibility!" The scientist tries to reason out. There was a look of shock and confusion on the man's face as he tried to tell the man in the suit that he was wrong. "I'm sure you are just mistake—"

"Are you saying that I'm spouting lies?" The masked man asks. Although Mi Young couldn't see his face because of the mask covering it, the black haired girl knows that the expression of the man is offended based on the challenging tone he has.

The scientist pales as he shakes his head, "N-No sir."

The man ignored him after that as he faced the soldier who heard Mi Young earlier once more. "Where did you hear the voice?"

"Beside my post, Sir."

"Show me." The masked man says. The soldier nodded his head as he led the man in the suit towards the place where he heard Mi Young.

The man in the suit didn't say anything after that but when he looked up at the painting where the soldier was assigned he nodded his head and hummed before turning towards the soldiers inside the room. He scans the area as if he was assessing where Mi Young could be hiding.

The man suddenly fishes out something from his pocket that looks like a communication device. Before Mi Young could even figure out what the man was planning the man speaks through the device in a deep and dark voice, "Secure the whole place. Lock us inside."

The black haired girl freezes. She wanted to run as fast as possible from the room since she doesn't want to get caught. Whatever the man was planning, she knew that it wouldn't be some time before he finally catches her.

"Sh*t." Mi Young couldn't help but whisper to herself. She was panicking and her heart was pounding so loud inside her chest. When she looked to her side, Hae Choon wasn't moving at all, he continued his act by seeming like an unbothered soldier. Mi Young knows she couldn't count on him at this time but she was hoping the boy could.

She looks at the man again and sees that he was reaching for something inside his pockets. Mi Young didn't know what it was but it looked like another device again. She really hates not knowing what to do. So the black haired girl starts to soundlessly walk towards the now-closing doors. She wanted to run but it would just make everyone hear her including the man and that would totally confirm their suspicions.

The black haired shakes her head as she tries to walk in faster strides with minimal sound as possible. However, just before he could even reach the exit, the door closes.

Mi Young wanted to scream as she looked at the now-closed door. She hates herself for not moving a little earlier when the door wasn't closing yet. But what she hated more was the fact that she felt like she walked right on a trap. The black haired girl bites her lower lip as she scans her surroundings, trying to find a way out. But to her dismay, nothing inside the gallery room can help her.

"All of you!" The man in the suit suddenly announces, making Mi young flinch from surprise. "Soldiers! Face the wall!"

Just like puppets being controlled by their master, all the soldiers, including Hae Choon, faced the wall behind them.

The black haired girl doesn't know what the man was up to but she's getting more anxious as she sees him whispering something in the scientist's ear. The man in the white lab gown nodded his head as he listened to the man's instruction. Then, he starts to walk towards each soldier and fishes out something from his pocket.

Mi Young watches as the scientist points a device with a laser behind each soldier's neck and every time the device turns green the scientist will proceed to the next soldier. It was during the soldier who was posted a few meters away from Mi Young that the black haired girl finally found out what the scientist was doing.

When she sees it, she immediately walks towards where Hae Choon was standing and facing the wall and in the softest and tiniest voice she could manage, she says behind Hae Choon.

"I don't know what that device is but the scientist is scanning the necks of all the soldiers." The black haired girl says. She looked at the two soldiers next to Hae Choon to check if they heard her but they continued to look straight ahead of them. "Hae Choon, what are we going to do?"

However, just like earlier, Hae Choon remained mute. The black haired girl bites her lip again as she looks at the scientist who wasn't far from Hae Choon's assigned place. She knows it's a matter of seconds before they find her.

"F*ck." The black haired girl whispers. She looks at Hae Choon again but he's not moving at all.

Then, something inside My Young turns. She looks at the place, the man in the mask, and Hae Choon who was standing as still as a statue on his spot.

She tried to shake off that heavy and eerie feeling spreading all over her system as she continued looking at Hae Choon's stiff figure.

Then the black haired girl thinks about the timing, the place, and how she felt so trapped.

'Could it be…' Mi Young thinks. She gulps down a lump in her throat before she whispers to Hae Choon again. "Are you a spy? Did you set me up here?"

She hates the fact that her voice faltered when she said those words. She also doesn't get why Hae Choon would do that to her if he was indeed her teacher Ning Gwang's friend. Or was he not a friend anymore that's why her teacher never mentioned her other friend?

Everything is so confusing for the black haired girl that her head started to ache. She looks at the scientist who was now one soldier away from checking Hae Choon. Mi Young felt all the air leave her body the moment she realized that Hae Choon must have been the one who set the trap for her.

The black haired girl wanted to cry. She's so naïve. Then another thing rung inside her mind which just made her suspicions grew, when they were outside and was moments away before they entered the headquarters, Hae Choon mentioned something about loving painting. He said that aside from being a master blacksmith, he was also an apprentice of one of the greatest painters in their town.

Mi Young tried so hard not to look at the painting at the edge of the room.

The scientist finally arrives behind Hae Choon, he scans the man's neck and Mi Young waits for the results. When the device in the scientist's hand turned green, Mi Young backed away as fast as possible from Hae Choon who was now facing the room and was looking at her with menacing eyes.

"H-How…" Mi Young says, she doesn't even care anymore that everyone can hear her.

Hae Choon smiles before he walks forward, startling the scientist who was just scanning the soldier beside him. "Hey soldier! Where do you think you're going?!"

Hae Choon ignored him as he continued looking at My Young with a mischievous grin on his face. "Do you really think you can get away from us that easily, young girl?"

"How can you break us like that?!"

"Betray?" The soldier, Hae Choon, cocks his head to the side before saying, "I didn't betray anyone though?"

"Soldier! If you don't get back to your position this instant I will—"

There was a sudden blinding light that came from the ceilings and a noise that sounded like crackling hit the floor. When Mi young opened her eyes, the scientist who was standing a little farther away from Mi Young earlier, is now gone. The only thing that remained was a black and dark patch on the floor and what seemed like smoke.

The soldier who experienced the whole thing happened in front of him, stiffens as he shakes in fear.

"If you move right now you'll definitely experience the same thing that happened to that annoying scientist just now." Hae Choon says with a cruel smile.

The black haired girl freezes on her spot. So Hae Choon was an Electro mage. Just like Su Yeon.

Even though she wanted to run as far away as possible from the other party, she knew that she had no choice but to obey him since she didn't want to end up like that scientist earlier.

When Hae Choon sees that the girl doesn't have any plan on running away he smiles and say, "That's a nice girl."

The boy starts to walk towards  him and Mi Young waits for his attack. However, just as Hae Choon was about to grab her, the man in the suit suddenly appears Mi Young.

"Don't let go!" He held the black haired girl's arms and in a blink of an eye, they both vanished out of sight.
