The Unsurpassed Maiden
Chapter 111 - 111 - The Real One
It happened so quickly that Mi Young wasn't able to process the sudden change of events.
One moment she was seconds from getting fried by a friend she thought was an ally. The next second, the 'villain' who she was trying to run away from helped her escape from her supposed 'friend'.
Mi Young immediately got up from her knees the moment she felt a solid ground underneath her feet. She looks at the masked man and backs away as far as possible. The black haired girl didn't waste any time before she called out her elements, ready to attack.
"Why did you help me?!" The young students asked. She creates an arrow made out of fire and points it at the man's head. One wrong move from him and Mi Young would set him on fire.
The masked man puts his hands up in the air, a sign that he doesn't want any trouble. "Mi Young! It's me!"
The black haired girl furrowed her eyebrows as she eyed the man from head to toe, trying to figure out who was behind the mask. "Who are you?"
"Please let me move. Don't attack me while I remove my mask." The masked man says while he tries to sound as genuine as possible, clearly afraid of the young girl's wrath.
Mi Young doesn't have any clue who was behind the mask. She knows that it's not Kwang Soo and definitely not Hae Choon who she left there. The black haired student still couldn't process the fact that Hae Choon had betrayed her. But for what reason actually?
The young student was so focused on her own thoughts that she didn't even notice the masked man finally removing her mask and fully exposing his whole face.
What shocked the young girl most was the face behind the mask.
Immediately, Mi Young called for her mana power again and created more arrows that now surrounded the man. "How the hell did you follow me?!"
"Mi Young!" The man says while he pleads with the young girl to listen to him. "Listen to me, please. I am the real Hae Choon!"
Mi Young moves her Pyro arrows closer towards the boy. Hae Choon closes his eyes and bites his lip since he can now feel the heat coming from the blazing arrows made by the young girl. "I know that this might sound suspicious but this is really the real me."
"And why should I trust you?" Mi Young asks, sounding confident and highly alert.
"You can ask me anything that is only the real Hae Choon and you know." 'Hae Choon' tries to say as he looks at Mi Young expectantly.
"The other Hae Choon already tricked me. Why would I let you trick me as well?" The black haired girl questions while eyeing 'Hae Choon' once more.
"Please, Mi young. Listen to me, please. I mean, why would I even waste my teleportation mana in saving you from that impostor if I'm the enemy, right?" 'Hae Choon' explains.
The black haired girl pauses for a second while she bites her lower lip. The Hae Choon in front of her smiled at her, and for some reason, it calmed the young girl's heart. "Fine. You can talk but I'm not moving my arrows."
"That's fine with me." Hae Choon says while giving Mi young a grateful smile. He clears his throat first before he started explaining his side. "So, when you were kidnapped by that Su Yeon girl, I teleported towards an abandoned room not far away from the elevator. I hid there for hours, just trying to listen and feel everything around me. Then, at some point, I fell asleep. Maybe because of the exhaustion of using my mana too much. Then, when I woke up, I was already at a different room and with a couple of soldiers in white surrounding me. That's when I met the masked man."
"The masked man? The man you just impersonated just now?"
Hae Choon nodded his head vigorously. "Yes. He tortured me for a bit and asked me a couple of things like who I was and what was my purpose of infiltrating the headquarters. Of course I didn't answer him because I knew it would lead to many future problems. So I kept my mouth shut and accepted all of his punches and kicks. However, I didn't know that they have devices that can copy someone's physical features. He walked up to me and got some of my blood. He inserted it on the device and then he pressed something. Seconds later, someone who had the same exact features as me was now standing in front of me."
"Holy sh*t." That was the only thing that Mi Young could come up with after hearing Hae Choon, the real Hae Choon's story.
"Yes. Then when he left, I was able to call out to my pet and he helped me attack the remaining soldiers. Then I got up and went to borrow some of the masked man's outfit." Hae Choon continued explaining. "I didn't know where to go, I just followed whatever everyone was telling until I found out that you may have gone in the gallery room since it was the closest exit. I continued pretending as the masked man not knowing that the real one was also inside the gallery room. So the moment I walked inside the gallery room I knew that the 'real' masked man already knew who I was and that I was an impostor. That's why he attacked you. The good thing was that he wasn't aware of my abilities."
"Hae Choon…that's a lot." Mi Young whispers as she looks at her friend with pity. Then she calls down her mana power and all the Pyro arrows surrounding the boy vanish into thin air. "I'm sorry for doubting you and uuhhh…for threatening you as well."
"It's fine. I know why you did that. Actually, it was the right thing to do." Hae Choon says as he slumps down on the cold floor. His shoulders finally relaxed as he took a deep breath. "Now what?"
"I don't know what to do as well. I mean, everyone's looking for me and I don't know anything about this place so I'm basically lost." Mi Young says while she sits on the floor just right in front of Hae Choon.
For some reason, Hae Choon finds her words funny. Mi Young looks at him curiously, "Why? What's so funny?"
The other party points between him and the black haired girl. "This. Our situation. Who would have thought that we would be exactly where we are right now, acting like criminals and trying to run away from soldiers."
Mi Young laughed at the other party's words. "And you told me earlier I was the criminal."
"We're both criminals now." Hae Choon says with a tired smile. "Or is it the opposite? I mean, we're on the good side and they're the bad guys so they're the criminals, right?"
Mi Young shakes her head at Hae Choon. "Being the good guy depends on how you see things. For them, we are the bad guys, while for us we are the good guys."
"You're right." Hae Choon comments. Then he looks at Mi Young again, "How about that friend of yours? Where is he now?"
The black haired girl sighs when she remembers Kwang Soo and Jang Hoon again. So, she explained everything to Hae Choon from the moment she woke up from her strange dream until the events that happened inside the gallery room.
"That's f*cked up." Hae Choon replies after his long silence.
"I know. Now, I don't know what to do and how to save them. They've done so much for me and I just left them there." Mi Young says with a sigh. She tried to think about something that could help her friends but nothing would just come up.
"Do you still know where the place was?"
"You mean where the cells are located?" Mi Young asks. When Hae Choon nodded, the black haired girl continued. "I don't really remember anything but I think I can manage to find it."
"You said your book has lots of spells, right?" Hae Choon questions. Mi Young nodded her head at his question. "Why don't you try and look for spells that can lead us where your friends are?"
"You think there's a spell like that recorded inside my book?" Mi Young asks.
Hae Choon nodded his head eagerly. "There's nothing wrong with trying. Besides, we've got nothing to lose."
The black haired girl considers the boy's words for a second before she ultimately touches her necklace. She closed her eyes and ordered her purple book to change back to its original form. Immediately, Mi Young's body started glowing. That's when she finally felt like her true self once more.
"Wait, did I just became visible again?" Mi Young asks. She raises her own hands and that's when she realizes she can see it again.
"At least now we know that you can't use two spells at the same time." Hae Choon comments while looking at the purple book on Mi Young's hands.
"You're right. But the way, how come were you able to see me?"
"I can't actually see you but I can sense your aura and your mana energy. All I see is a ghost-like silhouette shaped like a small kid so I know you're there." Hae Choon says with a shrug.
He earned a kick in the shin for that.
