The Unsurpassed Maiden
Chapter 121 - 121 - More Doors
"What was that?" Mi Young asks while looking at their surroundings.
"I don't know. I think it came from that door there!" Hae Choon replies while pointing at the door just ahead of them.
The black haired girl gulps down a lump forming on her throat. "I've had enough with doors."
"But we have no chance since it's a dead end." Hae Choon comments.
"Why don't we just teleport?" Mi Young suggested while crossing her arms.
Hae Choon gave her an 'are-you-kidding-me-look'. Then, Mi Young remembers that the other party still has injuries. "Sh*t. Sorry I forgot."
Hae Choon was about to reply to her but he was stopped with another bang coming from the door in front of them. "The hell is that?"
The black haired girl bites her lower lip to suppress herself from letting out a sound close to a whimper. "S-Should we take a look?"
"I'm injured."
Mi Young gave Hae Choon a look to which the other party couldn't possibly ignore. For some reason, it deeply reminded the man of her younger sister. So he couldn't do anything but let out a small defeated sigh. "Fine. Let's go. But be careful."
After that, the two of them finally walked up towards the door where the loud sound could be continuously heard.
Mi Young and Hae Choon shared a look before the black haired girl nodded her head towards the other party. With a small voice she says, "On the count of three, we push the door together. One…two…three!"
Both Mi Young and Hae Choon push the door in front of them to open so they can see what was causing the loud bang. However, what was beyond the door was something they never expected to see.
"What…the…hell…" That was the only thing Mi Young could come up with as she looked at the interior of the room.
Hae Choon couldn't stop himself as he ran to the side and vomited. He was feeling seriously sick upon seeing what's inside the room.
"The more I see what's inside this secret headquarters the more I am convinced that the High Lords aren't human. I mean, how can they even do this?" The black haired girl couldn't stop herself from saying. She looks at the room again and she can already feel the anger boiling inside her once more.
Hanging and displayed inside the room were thousands of bodies of different humans and beasts. Some beasts were hanging on the ceiling with their bodies open and empty, leaving only their skin. There were other beasts displayed all over the place. Although they are intact, their eyes are closed and all of them have holes on their bodies.
Mi Young looks to her right and she sees Hae Choon with both his hands on his knees and he was looking paler than usual.
"Are you okay?" The black haired girl asks.
Hae Choon nodded his head. "Just got sick after seeing their bodies."
The black haired girl definitely understands what he was trying to say. If Mi Young was new to this, she would have also reacted the same way. Then, something crosses inside the young girl's mind which makes her ask Hae Choon in a confused voice. "You've been alive for thousands of years. Surely, you're already used to dead bodies, right?"
The other party sighs and wipes his face before he replies in a soft voice. "I wasn't vomiting because dead bodies creeped me out. I reacted that way because I was overwhelmed with their agony."
"Agony?" Mi Young asks.
"When your cultivation level reaches a level like mine, you will know what I am talking about." Hae Choon says.
"Why? How can you feel their agony if they're already dead?" The black haired girl pushes despite Hae Choon wanting to avoid the topic.
The other party had no other choice but to explain it to the young girl since she was too curious and Hae Choon knew that the student wouldn't stop asking him if he remained mute. So with another defeated sigh, Hae Choon started explaining. "If you reach the upper level of your cultivation, you will be able to feel the emotions that flow together with your mana. For dead bodies, you can be able to feel the last emotion they felt and that flowed with their mana just before they died."
"And you said that you felt their agony…which means that was the last emotion they felt before they died?"
"Correct." Hae Choon replies. He sighs once more before he scans the dead bodies surrounding them. "It was so overwhelming that it made me sick. Whoever did it to them is just pure evil and heartless."
"I'm sure it was the High Lords who ordered their soldiers to kill and experiment on these humans and beasts." Mi Young says, voice laced with venom as she clenches her fists on her side.
"Why do they keep on collecting humans and beasts? And for what?" Hae Choon silently asks himself. However, it was loud enough for the black haired girl to hear.
"I'm guessing they're also trying to copy these creatures' abilities. What else do they need it for?" The young girl says.
The two of them remained silent after that. They just stared at the bodies displayed everywhere around them, forgetting the main reason why they came inside to see what was inside. It was a couple of minutes after Mi Young realized something.
"Sh*t!" The black haired girl curses out as she looks around her surroundings, suddenly alert.
"Why? What's wrong?" Hae Choon asks, looking everywhere as well and copying the young girl's movements.
"We forgot to check what was causing the loud bang earlier!" The young girl replies. This immediately caught the other party's attention as he mentally slapped himself.
"Sh*t. You're right!" Hae Choon comments while face palming himself. "Quick! Look around for something big or anything that you think would cause such noise."
"That's the thing…" Mi Young says while her eyes are locked on something in front of her.
"What?"
"I don't know what could possibly make a loud noise like that, except that." The black haired girl says while pointing ahead of her.
Hae Choon didn't waste any of his time as he followed the black haired girl's hands. When he saw what the other party was pointing at, his eyes widened in shock. "Holy…"
"I know." The young girl continues. "I don't know if I should be glad that we found what was causing that noise or be scared of what I am seeing."
"I think the latter fits more with our situation right now." Hae Choon replies while his eyes continue to stare at the large beast in front of them.
Although the whole room was surrounded with dead bodies, the only thing that was moving inside the room was the large beast which was placed inside a cell and is located at the center of the room.
It was bumping its cage, seemingly trying to get out. The black haired girl, as well as Hae Choon, doesn't know how to react.
"Mi Young…"
"Yes. I think we should move before it can break its cage." The young girl didn't even need to hear the rest of Hae Choon's sentence because she too felt that they really need to get out of there if they still want to live.
Although the cell looks like it's sturdy and strong, with the beast, which was larger than the beast they fought earlier, continuously bumping its huge and strong body against it, they know that anytime the cells can break.
"Are they enchanted?"
"I think not." Hae Choon says while looking at the cells that was the only thing that was separating them from the large beast.
"Well, that's reassuring." Mi Young replies in her famous sarcastic voice. "S-Should we keep going?"
"We better be." Hae Choon replies as he looks from his left to his right. He points at something ahead of them and says, "There! There's a door over there!"
Mi Young nodded her head at the other party before they continued to walk towards it. At some point, the beast turned even angrier since its prey were not even sparing him any glance at all.
Both Mi Young and Hae Choon visibly jumped when the beast started to let out wild and animalistic roars.
"Somehow it seems like is fiercer and angrier than the beast earlier." Mi Young says as she hurriedly walks towards the door on the other side of the room. "And what's up with these doors? Why do I feel like they're toying with us?"
Hearing the black haired girl's constant complaints, Hae Choon sighs before saying, "Less complaining, more walking! We're almost there!"
Even though she hates being commanded, Mi Young knows that what Hae Choon said just now was true. She looks back at the beast and pauses when she realizes that it had managed to put cracks on its cell.
"Sh*t! It's about to come out!"
Hae Choon looks back as well to check what the other party meant.. When he realized what Mi Young was trying to say, he did his best to walk even faster even though he was still feeling really weak inside.
"I don't know. I think it came from that door there!" Hae Choon replies while pointing at the door just ahead of them.
The black haired girl gulps down a lump forming on her throat. "I've had enough with doors."
