The Unsurpassed Maiden

The two parties continued to walk hurriedly towards the other side of the wall, not wanting to face the giant and angry beast who was still trying to escape its prison.

Looking at it more closely, the black haired girl thinks that this beast is much nastier and angrier compared to the other beast. Mi Young knows that if they engage in a battle with this one, none of them would survive.

"I think it's getting angrier because it has been locked for ages!" Hae Choon shouts while running behind Mi Young. He looks back at the beast to check the cage and his eyes widened when he sees another crack forming around it. "Uh oh! It made another crack!"

The black haired student didn't even have to check the beast to know what Hae Choon just said. She knows that if she ever looks back, she'll just make the beast angrier. They run as fast as they can towards the other side of the room. However, just like the room filled with feathers, it seemed like the other side was getting farther the more they tried to reach it.

"Are all rooms inside this headquarters enchanted? Why do they love playing tricks on us!?" Mi Young shouts at the top of her lungs because of too much frustration. She couldn't bear losing Hae Choon and her life there. They need to get out. However, all hope vanishes from Mi Young the moment they hear a loud breaking sound coming from behind them.

They didn't even have enough time to check the beast when suddenly a big creature landed in front of them.

When Mi Young and Hae Choon looked up at the creature blocking their way, their eyes met four red and angry eyes.

"Mi Young…" / "Hae Choon…"

Both of them speak at the same time.

Both parties can feel the heavy tension in the atmosphere. None of them made the first move, afraid that the beast might suddenly attack them if they caused any kind of movement.

Even though it was just in front of the two humans, the creature didn't make any move to attack them as well.

"What's wrong with it?" Mi Young managed to ask while keeping eye contact with the beast. Two of its eyes are looking at Mi Young and the other two were looking at Hae Choon.

"I don't know what's wrong with it…" Hae Choon says. The other party made a small move using his fingers but the eyes of the beast didn't budge. It just kept on looking at the both of them like it's waiting for them to attack first. "Wait a minute."

The black haired girl gave Hae Choon a quick side glance to check what he was trying to do. She sees him slowly moving his hands up in the air and waving it in front of the beast. The creature remained still and its breathing was starting to get steadier as each second passed by.

"What are you doing?" The young girl asks while giving Hae Choon a confused look.

The boy didn't spare her any glance at all. However, he was able to give the younger man an answer. "I think it's blind."

"Blind?" Mi Young exclaims, her voice a little louder than usual. The beast's reaction was immediate. The moment the black haired girl's voice suddenly went louder, it started to breathe heavily as if it was getting aggressive.

"Shush!" Hae Choon says while putting a finger on his lips. Mi Young freezes while the beast moves all of its eyes towards where she was standing. "Listen to me."

"What?" Mi Young manages to say, more like squeak.

"It's blind to real images." Hae Choon starts to say.

"But how can it see us?"

"Let me finish explaining first." Hae Choon says while giving the other party an eye roll. "It may be blind to the real images in front of it but it uses emotions and heat energy as its way to see."

"Which means?"

"Which is the reason why it reacted to us that way earlier. We were so scared of it which caused our body temperature to rise up. It can see heat energy as signs of aggression." Hae Choon explains. "It also went a little aggressive earlier when your voice suddenly went up. It's very noisy."

"So we can escape it if we just remain calm? I mean, it won't attack us at all?" Mi Young questions. She can feel her heart slowly starting to calm down knowing that they have a chance to escape from the beast.

Hae Choon slowly nodded his head. "I think so."

"What do we do then? It's eyes are still on me though." Mi Young says while she gives the beast a weird look.

"Just focus on breathing normally. Make your heart calm down. And also, you better not make any sudden sound or noise so it won't think that we are enemies." The taller of the two says while he starts to walk forward in a slow manner.

Mi Young followed Hae Choon's movements as they both walked towards the beast's side with light and soft footsteps.

Both of them also made sure to keep their hearts calm and their temperatures steady.

"Hae Choon, I think it's working." The black haired student says as they continue walking along the beast's side and across the other side of the room.

"I know. Just keep on moving forward. Don't look back and focus on the goal." Hae Choon replies not sparing the black haired girl any glance.

Mi Young nodded her head in understanding even though she knew that the other party couldn't see her. She just continued to walk forward so they could reach the door sooner.

They were just a few meters away from the door, and Mi Young could already feel the triumphant emotion rising inside her as they slowly neared the door. However, the room was suddenly filled with so much noise that both Mi Young and Hae Choon didn't know where it came from.

It was as if the whole room was filled with thousands of birds flying and screeching. Mi Young felt like her eardrums were about to explode. The noise suddenly caused pain in their ears that all they managed to do was kneel down and cover their ears to suppress the noise from totally breaking their eardrums.

The young girl couldn't help but to let out a scream of agony as the noise continued to grow even louder. At some point, she heard the beast screaming in anger as well as it probably got aggressive because of too much noise.

"What's that?!" Mi Young shouts at Hae Choon who she realized was also covering his ears.

"I think it's coming from those black speakers over there!" The boy shouts back as he points at something above them.

When Mi Young looks up to check what the other party meant, she sees a pair of black and huge speakers placed just on top of the door. Hae Choon was right, the noise really did come from those speakers.

However, the two of them didn't have any chance to figure out why the speaker suddenly let out loud noises because the beast was already after them.

"Mi Young! Run!" Hae Choons shouts the moment the beast steps on the ground just behind the black haired girl.

Good thing Mi Young has fast reflexes and she managed to dodge the beast's foot. If she was seconds late, she would have been dead meat by now.

The black haired girl immediately runs off towards  the left side of the room since one of the beast's feet was blocking the doorway. She sees Hae Choon running in the opposite direction. The young girl was about to follow her companion but then the beast suddenly changed its target.

When the young student sees the beast going after Hae Choon, Mi Young immediately shouts at the top of her lungs in order to take its attention away from Hae Choon.

"Hey you big ugly four eyed beast! Come here! I'm much tastier compared to that old hag right there! I'm young and fresh! I'm sure you would love to make me your dinner!" The black haired girl cries out as she moves both of her hands up in the air in order to completely get its attention.

The beast stopped chasing after Hae Choon and it turned its entire body towards her direction. It let out an angry and nasty roar to which Mi Young thought was a cry for anger before it started to move towards her in fast and heavy steps.

"Sh*t!" The young student manages to curse out before she starts running towards where they came from earlier.

She looked back to check where the beast was and it was only a couple of feet away from her. When she sees a glass display ahead of her, she immediately rounds the corner to hide herself from the beast.

Mi Young continued to hide behind the huge glass displays of the dead bodies of different creatures around them. She can even hear the loud angry wail of the beast as if it was telling the two of them that they can't hide from it forever.

The black haired girl swallowed the lump forming in her throat the moment the beast roars once more.
