The Unsurpassed Maiden

"Mi Young…" Hae Choon calls out. "What do these animals actually do when they produce a sound like that?"

The black haired girl, who was also looking at the happenings in front of them, blinked twice before replying to her companion's question, "They…They call out for other beasts to help them get rid of the enemy."

"Ah." That was the only thing Hae Choon could say as they watched the giant beast continuously producing that same sound. However, something clicked inside Hae Choon's mind. "Wait a minute, what are we so afraid of?"

Mi Young, who was still dumbfounded about the whole situation, immediately whips her head towards Hae Choon upon hearing the hope in his voice. "We're afraid because it's calling out for more beasts?"

"Yes, but are there any beasts here?" Hae Choon asks, voice sounding confident and proud. He also made out a point by gesturing at the room where they were currently at.

The gears inside the black haired girl's mind started to turn as she realized what the other party meant. With a smile Mi Young answers Hae Choon, "You're right! We shouldn't be afraid of its call since there are no other beasts here!"

Right after saying those words, the giant beast finally stops calling out for other beasts. Hae Choon turns to Mi Young, "See? It's giving up. It probably realized that there's no other beasts here that could help him."

The moment the black haired girl was about to agree to Hae Choon's words, the sound of a glass echoed all throughout the room, followed by another, and another, until the whole room which was silent a few seconds ago is now filled with the sound of glass breaking one after another.

Hae Choon and Mi Young's triumphant smiles instantly vanished the moment they realized what was happening.

"Are you f*cking kidding me?" Hae Choon voices out as he looks at all the shattered glass scattered all around them. And then both their eyes widened even more when the bodies, the bodies that they thought were dead, started moving from the shattered glass displays.

"Please tell me I'm only imagining things." The black haired girl says as she looks at the beasts who are now starting to move away from the glass displays and to the center of the room where the giant beast was calling them.

"What the hell is happening?" Mi Young asks in a shocked voice. "Why are they all coming back to life?"

"I don't know. I think it had something to do with the beast call you said a while ago…" Hae Choon replies while also looking at the beasts gathering at the center of the room. If the room wasn't that big, Mi Young and Hae Choon knew that not all of them would fit inside.

"But we saw the holes on their bodies. That meant that they were dead, right?" Mi Young asks once more, still not able to grasp the happenings in front of her. "How are these beasts alive?"

Hae Choon's eyes went darker as he said his next words. "I think it had something to do with Dark Magic."

Mi Young whips her head towards the other party, "Dark Magic? You think Dark Magic is what's making them come back to life?"

The other party didn't even waste any time as he nodded at the young girl's question. "I'm positive. A little while ago we witnessed the Door of Death reviving a fallen beast with our own two eyes. It's not impossible that a rare magic item that's possessed with Dark Magic is loitering here somewhere."

"You're right. It's not impossible given the fact that they also have a room filled with different magic items." The black haired girl adds while she looks at the beasts gathered at the center. "Now that we're here, what do you think should we do in order to get away from them? I'm sure that giant beast had gathered all these other beasts for a reason."

"I know. I think it's best that we should start moving towards the door again." Hae Choon whispers as he and Mi Young went back to crouching down to hide themselves using the broken displays. They just hope that none of the beasts will notice them while they're trying to escape.

When they were just a few feet away from the door, a sound similar to a bird's stopped them both.

Hae Choon and Mi Young both looked up to see a giant ancient bird standing on top of the door, staring at them with its red eyes.

"N-Nice…bird." Hae Choon whispers as he tries to smile at the bird. "Can we pass?"

The bird continued to stare at them which made Mi Young feel crept out as time went by.

"I think it's hostile." Hae Choon whispers to the other party. Mi Young looks at Hae Choon first, then at the bird.

Thinking that Hae Choon was probably saying something true, the black haired girl nodded her head in reply.

"Let's slowly walk towards the door then?" Hae Choon questions. Mi Young nodded her head again.

However, just as they were about to reach the exit, the bird suddenly started making squawking noises.

"Sh*t! Sh*t!" Hae Choon cursed out as he realized what the bird was trying to do. "Mi Young, quick! Open the door!"

The black haired girl didn't even waste any of her time as she quickly headed to the door. Mi Young hears the footsteps and the calls of the other beasts as they all run towards where the two were.

"Mi Young!" Hae Choon shouts behind her.

The black haired girl uses all her force as she pulls the door open. At first, the black haired girl thought it wouldn't budge open. However, after calling out her mana strength, Mi Young was able to pull open the heavy door.

"Quickly! Inside!" The young girl shouts as she holds out her hand to pull Hae Choon towards her.

The moment that the two of them were finally behind the door, Mi Young immediately closes it.

Hae Choon leaned against the wall as he let out a sigh of relief. "That was f*cking close."

The black haired student was about to agree to the other party's words, but the moment she was about to open her mouth, the wall that was separating them from the room filled with beasts started shaking.

Mi Young's eyes were wide as saucers as she looked at the wall. "Sh*t. Don't tell me they're trying to get out!"

"It seems like it." Hae Choon says while letting out another sigh. Then, he straightened his posture once more and started walking. "Quick. We better get our asses out of here before they completely break those walls."

"You're right. Let's go." The black haired student says as they both started to run while following the way of the corridor.

They can still hear the banging of the beasts as they all try to get out of the room. Mi Young tried to think what would happen to them if they didn't get out of there on time. The black haired girl shivers at the thought.

"Look! There's two doors there!" Hae Choon points out.

Mi Young followed his gaze and indeed there were two different doors facing one another at the end of the corridor.

The young student walks up to Have Choon's side. "Where do you think should we go?"

"I don't know. I'm bad at making decisions." Hae Choon replies while smiling sheepishly at the other party. "How about you choose? I'll go anywhere you go."

"I'm quite unlucky myself so we might get inside the wrong door. Just thinking about a room filled with beasts scares the hell out of me." Mi Young replied.

The taller man scratches his head. "Then where should we go?"

Mi Young just shrugs at him as an answer. An awkward silence enveloped them both. When the black haired girl was about to say something, the ground beneath them started shaking.

"What's going on?" Hae Choon questions.

The black haired girl followed her instincts and immediately went down to put her ear against the floor. The moment she realized what the shaking meant, Mi Young quickly stood up.

"Quick! We better choose a door now or else we'll get killed!"

"What? Why?" Hae Choon asks in panic.

The moment Mi Young was about to explain everything to Hae Choon, thousands of shadows coming from behind them immediately caught their attention. When they both looked behind them, they saw all of the beasts coming towards their way.

"The beasts managed to escape the room." Mi Young whispered as they stared at the beasts.

"Sh*t! Let's go!" Hae Choon shouts as he quickly grabs the black haired girl's hands and pulls her towards the door on the left.

The man immediately shuts it the moment the two of them are in.

"Quick! Let's get away from the door!" Hae Choon manages to say after locking the door using the huge plank he saw on the side. He uses it as a barricade before he grabs Mi Young's hands again so they could run away from the door.
