The Unsurpassed Maiden

Chapter 87 - 87 - Abandoned

"Where are you dragging me?" Mi Young asks while trying to push the man away from her. But to no avail, all her attempts failed. For some reason, the blue haired man was too damn strong.

"This is payment for the book." The man says with a smirk.

"Please don't sell me off." The black haired girl says with pleading eyes. She starts to tug at the man's shirt but the Vice Captain keeps on dragging her somewhere. "You're not really going to sell me off, right?"

The Vice Captain jokes out by looking at her from head to foot, as if he's sizing her body if it's good enough already. Mi Young watched in horror as the young man started acting as if he's thinking about it. However, she felt relieved when the blue haired man started laughing instead.

"You should have seen your face! Oh god, that was hilarious!" The Vice Captain says in between laughter. "Did you really think you could be sold off? With that tiny body?"

Mi Young stomps at the Vice Captain's foot with enough force which makes the man loosen his grip on her arms. "Idiot!"

Then the girl walks off once more. After recovering from the pain, the Vice Captain instantly went after the young lady.

"I was just kidding. Hey!" The man calls out but Mi Young never spared him any glance at all.

The Vice Captain continued on following her and trying to persuade her to come with him, but Mi Young kept on walking away from him. At some point, people started to notice the Vice Captain of the guards who looked like a kicked puppy who kept on apologizing to this new girl, and it's getting intriguing to their eyes.

"Please I was just kidd???"

"Is this guy bothering you, shrimp?" A familiar voice asks which made the two stopped.

Mi Young turns to her right and sees Kwang Soo looking at the Vice Captain with his cold eyes. She crosses her arms at Kwang Soo but answers his question nonetheless. "First of all, stop calling me shrimp. And yes, he's bothering me."

"You're tiny, you're a shrimp." Kwang Soo teases but his eyes remain cold. Then, he moved his gaze back at the Vice Captain, who for some reason stopped talking, "And you, if the girl says no then it's a no. Go bother someone else instead."

Instead of cowering in fear because of the young man's cold voice and snobbish demeanor, the Vice Captain sends a sly smirk towards Kwang Soo's way. "It isn't called 'bothering', if the other person is fine with it."

This caused Kwang Soo to raise his eyebrows at him. Mi Young, of course, protested. "Who said I was fine with it?"

"Stop being like that, we were fine earlier." The blue haired male says with a pout.

"Hey man, if you think it's funny bothering a girl, I have to say it's not." Kwang Soo says as he steps forward to pull Mi Young behind him, leaving the girl shocked.

"I told you, I wasn't bothering her???"

"Just back off, okay?" Kwang Soo says with a glare. After saying that. he immediately grabs Mi Young by the hand and then pulls her towards him before they storm off. The Vice Captain was about to stop and follow them when a couple of guards ran towards him, entirely blocking his way.

"What?" The Vice Captain asks, irritated. Mi Young wasn't able to hear what the guards had to say because Kwang Soo was already dragging her far away from the guards.

"Hey, where are we going?" Mi Young asks as she continues following behind Kwang Soo. The other party was still gripping her arms so she couldn't do anything but follow him. "We've been walking for a while now and we still???"

"Just stay silent and follow me. We're close." The boy says before he finally lets go of the black haired girl's arms.

Mi Young snickers behind him but continues following him anyway.

She noticed that unlike the busy streets earlier, now they are working on a more deserted part of the city. There were huge buildings that somewhat looked abandoned considering that there was no life there at all. Aside from that, these buildings seemed old and forgotten.

They continued walking for a while and Mi Young was starting to feel annoyed.

She was about to ask Kwang Soo again where they were going but stopped herself because finally, they stopped walking.

"What is this?" The young girl asks while looking at an abandoned house in front of them. She turned towards Kwang Soo and with a blank look, asked, "What do you want to show me?"

"Not there, shrimp. Here." Kwang Soo says while pointing at the other side of the road.

The black haired girl turns around to face another abandoned house. The only difference that this house has than the previous one is that it has fences. Then, Mi Young realized that it was the only house on the block that had a fence.

"What's up there?" The young student asks again when she saw the smoke coming from the chimney.

"That's what I was trying to investigate as well. I followed the smoke and it lead me here." Kwang Soo says while also looking up at the smoke which was continuously coming out from the chimney of the abandoned house.

"Do you think it's abandoned or is there someone there?"

Kwang Soo turned to look at her. "Have you ever heard of a chimney producing smoke of its own?"

Mi Young shakes her head innocently. "Then no. Of course there's someone there."

The black haired girl sneers at the other party before crossing her arms while looking at him. "Then why didn't you investigate inside yet if you saw this earlier? Why bring me here?"

Kwang Soo averts his gaze away.

Mi Young leaned closer to whisper against his ear. "Or were you scared to go there alone?"

This made the man fume in anger. "Course not! I was just checking out if you were embarrassing yourself out there. You're bringing the school's name with you, I would never want to be involved with it. Turns out, I was right. You were indeed a huge embarrassment."

"Hey! That's so mean!"

"Why were you with that soldier by the way? And why was he pestering you?" The senior asks while giving Mi Young a side glance.

"He found me at a bookstore and then gave me a book. Now he thinks that I should pay him for that."

"Did you pay then?"

Mi Young shakes her head. "No. I don't have my money with me."

Kwang Soo remained silent after that. Then, after a few seconds, he starts to walk towards the abandoned house. Mi Young walks after him.

"Are we going inside?"

"We're just going to check it. You don't have to come if you don't want to." Kwang Soo answers the black haired girl in a whisper.

"Well, I'm here already so I might as well look at what's inside as well."?? The young girl says before hurrying to go over Kwang Soo's back.

The boy was about to say something to her when they both heard a loud bang just a few blocks away from them. Both students looked each other in the eye before they hurriedly went inside the fences of the abandoned house, afraid that whoever was the reason for that loud bang could catch them.

"What do you think it was?" Mi Young asks while slowly creeping behind the other party.

They have already gone inside the perimeter of the house and they were still debating where they would enter. However, since Kwang Soo was the one leading them both, Mi Young just followed where the other party would go.

"I don't know but it sounded like a weapon."

"Weapon? You mean those things we only read in books?" Mi Young asks. Weapons are a myth to them. Since they are people who rely on magic, weapons weren't introduced to them. However, there were some books, rare books, scattered randomly around the Mage Kingdom which is why they still know about the existence of weapons like swords before. "Is there a weapon which can make a sound like that?"

"Guns. Cannons." Kwang Soo answered in a whisper while he crouches down so they can avoid being seen from the window if ever someone is really inside the house.

"What's that?"

"We can talk about weapons some other time. Just focus on not being seen now, okay?" The man says while he turns around to face the young girl. Mi Young nodded her head at his sentence. "Good. Now, in a count of three you run and follow me."

The black haired girl nodded her head once more at the boy's instruction. Kwang Soo didn't waste any of his time while he counted to three. After that, he dashed forward and ran across the lawn in order to get to the other side of the house without being caught, Mi Young following closely behind him.

When they reached the part of the house that led to a backdoor, Kwang Soo signaled Mi Young to keep quiet to which the other girl just nodded her head.

The senior grabs the doorknob to see if it was locked. And when it casually opens against his hold, he slowly turns it around to open and reveal what's behind the door.

However, what greeted them inside was something that took them totally by surprise.
