The Vampire's Bride

Chapter 50 - I don’t own a dog

Leo looked at Mallory's body. He noticed a few scratches and her breathing ragged. She lost a lot of energy, much more than when she used it on Zorek.

Clenching his fist, Leo held down his urges to just rip her family apart. What kind of family does this to their child?!

"Jillion, hurry and remove it." Leo growled.

Jillion wanted to cry but felt like he would be dead if he did so. He wasn't some god who could just remove the chain in an instant. Heck, if he was that talented, did Leo really think that he would make Mallory suffer that long?! He wasn't a love rival nor was he an enemy, okay?! Yet he received such injustice from the angry young master!

Leo quickly looked at Mallory's family. Standing up, he held his gaze against Odin.

"Why are you still here, Mr. Odin?"

Odin scoffed as he replied, "I'm willing to charge you for unlawful imprisonment. My daughter should live in my house as she is a member of the Klein family."

"Oh really?" Leo narrowed his eyes. "This is unlawful imprisonment? This is against her will? She's a member of the Klein family? Ha! Don't make me laugh."

Odin flinched as he saw Leo's eyes turning red. His every word held a lot of weight and fear spread within him. For some reasons, he felt guilty. But the guilt lasted for a second before he replied, "She is under the Klein family. As someone older than you, I advise you to stop your game, Young Master Orpheus."

"I'm surprised to see someone like you were able to become a senior in our world. You can't even differentiate which is your house, entering at another territory," Leo said.

"You say that but your dog doesn't even know how to treat their guests."

"Dog?" Leo was genuinely confused, "I don't own a dog."

Pff—

Aldo and Jillion bit their lips to prevent them from laughing. Indeed, Leo did not own a dog and he entered the conversation when Ali spoke so he wasn't privy of the conversation between his butler and Odin. Looking behind, Leo proceeded to ask Aldo and Jillion, "Did any of you bring your dogs? I already told you guys not bring any pets in my house."

Aldo could not help it anymore and let out a couple of laughs, "That's not it Leo. No one brought any pets here. I don't even have one."

"Then... where is this dog?" Leo raised an eyebrow.

"Master Orpheus," Odin called to get Leo's attention, "The dog that I spoke of is the man who kept my daughters and wife in these cages."

Leo followed to where Odin was gazing and saw Brian besides him with a formal pose. Noticing that Leo had a questioning gaze, Brian placed his hands on his c.h.e.s.t like a puppy and confirmed that he was the 'dog' Odin spoke of, "Woof."

Leo seemed to understood what had happened. With a smirk, he patted his head and said, "Good boy! I'll give you a reward later."

"Woof."

"Don't forget to keep on doing this, okay?"

"Woof."

Odin seemed to be annoyed by how they were taking him lightly. They were just kids yet they had the nerve to disrespect their seniors! How impolite!

"Young man, I'm not like any of you here. I don't have a lot of free time in my hand. Now hand me my family," Odin said fiercely.

Leo stopped playing around and looked at Odin with a deathly stare. "You think you can leave with Mallory? You and your family's been abusing her for as long as she lived. You think I'll give her back to you? Unless Mallory mentions it from the bottom of her heart, I will not hand her over to you."

Narrowing his eyes, Odin softly asked, "Are you declaring a fight, boy?"

"If that is what must be done, then you can think of it that way."

"I'm reminding you that you're no match for me."

"We'll see about that."

There was a moment of silence as the two entered a staring competition. Observing his surroundings, Odin made a plan in his mind. When he observed Leo, his confidence boosted as he knew he was going to win the fight. Preparing his move, Odin said, "Don't blame me if things get bloody!"

"BLOOD MY A.S.S!"

Leo and the others were shocked by the sudden voice. Looking at the door, an agitated old man entered the room, pointing at Odin. The old man had long silver hair yet he was strong and had little wrinkles on his face. If not for his hair, some might think that he was a man during his 30s or 40s.

"You think you could have the chance to make this room bloody?! I'm telling you! One more step and you'll be lying in your coffin!"

Odin could not help but widened his eyes. He had no words to say as he was still shocked. How come this old man is here?

"W-Who is that?" Jillion asked as he unconsciously stopped moving his hands. They all looked at Aldo but he shook his head, telling them that he doesn't know him. It was, after all, the first time Aldo saw his face but if he listened closely... he would recognize the man.

Mallory tried to focus on the familiar figure but could not understand a single thing they were saying. With hazy eyes, she seemed to wait for the old man to look at her. When they made eye contact, she felt relieved... he was there... she finally saw him after a long time...

"G-Grand...father..."

The old man was stunned to hear his granddaughter weakly calling him. He felt warm as it had been a long time since he last heard her voice. "Lory! It's me, Grandfather!"

GRANDFATHER?!

Everyone, except for Odin's family, were surprised. This old man was Mallory's grandfather?

He hurriedly ran towards her but as soon as he was about to hug her, he noticed the chain and her situation. Looking at the pattern, he knew who did it. Fury rose within him and quickly growled at Odin, "You bastard! You're a heartless father! You dare to hurt your daughter?! What kind of person are you?!"

"F-Father, calm down," Odin said as he tried to stop the raging old man but his efforts were in vain.

"Hmph! Have I not gone back, did you think you won't get exposed?!" Turning to Mallory, he quickly disassembled the chain.

Within a few minutes, the chain was unlocked but it still stayed on Mallory's neck. Jillion who watched nearby, could not help but gaped his mouth. Pointing at the old man, he looked like he just saw a ghost.

T-That pattern! That work!

"You're Master Gin?!" Jillion asked.

The old man seemed to be surprised that such a young one knew of his name. "I used to be. Now I'm just some old man named Dan. Lory, are you alright?"

"Y-yes... Grandfather, why are you here?" Mallory asked as she leaned on the bed for support.

"Why? I was with Samael and his son and grandson. I decided to visit their home too," Grandfather Dan explained.

"Ahem... Father," Odin called, "Shall we retire for today and continue talking tomorrow?"

Looking at the time, Grandfather Dan agreed, "You're right."

Hearing this, Mikva glared at Leo, "You heard him. Now let us go and Mallory, come with us home."
