The Vampire's Bride

Chapter 51 - Evil

Grandfather Dan suddenly stood up. "Who said that she's coming?"

"E-Eh?" Mikva was stunned, "But Father you—"

"Who is your father?! I don't just give my name to other people," Grandfather Dan said with a huff.

Seeing that his wife was being bullied, Odin stepped up, "Father, we have a home to go back. What do you mean by she's not coming?"

"Exactly as I said. You think she's coming with you? You think I'M coming with you? In your dreams! I'm staying with my granddaughter!" Grandfather Dan said.

"But aren't we your granddaughters too, Grandfather?" Anna asked with pity in her eyes.

Looking at the two sisters, Grandfather Dan knew that they were all an act. "Hmph! I will only consider one granddaughter of mine. The rests are grandsons!"

Grandsons! Thana bit her lip. Why does this old man focuses on men when he only have three grandson as of now? Besides, their cousins were only seven and eleven years old and the oldest was not even in contact with the family! While he had two amazing granddaughters, Thana and Anna, who were already on their way to working a.d.u.l.t life!

"Father," Odin walked towards Grandfather Dan, "I know you're angry but I have prepared a surprise for you at home. I was supposed to bring Mallory home before you come back home so that the surprise will be complete."

"Surprise? What surprise?" Grandfather Dan raised an eyebrow.

"You'll know when we return home, Father." Odin held out his hand as he tried to persuade the old man to come home with them.

Looking at the hand, Grandfather Dan was hesitant. It was not that he wanted to know what surprise it was but the words that Mallory would complete the surprise somehow... made him expectant.

He was about to agree when he heard his precious granddaughter of his coughing lightly from pain. Remembering the things they did, he decided to not go. "I'll visit some other time. For now, I'll stay with Lory."

"But Father—"

"If you understood, then leave! The Young Master of this house already said that you cannot set a single foot in this house! Shut up and leave!" Grandfather Dan roared as he pointed to the door.

"You!" Grandfather Dan pointed at Brian, "Toss them out! After that, let them go then kick them in a portal that will lead them to somewhere far from here!"

Brian stood there, looking at the agitated old man, processing the order in his head. After a second or two, he gave a polite bow "... Understood." He immediately did as he was asked of.

Leo, on the other hand, wanted to question who their butler was working under but swallowed the words when he remembered that the man was Mallory's grandfather. After all, he must gain the approval of those who loves Mallory. So he thought, it was better to just shut his mouth than have a battle with the old man.

But still... seeing the butler following an "outsider's" order was... a bit odd.

"Please, this way," Brian said as he ushered the family out.

Surprisingly, Odin did not refute and was silent as he was pushed outside of the house. Well, it was not that he did not refute... he just couldn't. Odin clenched his fists in frustration. Grandfather Dan's spell would probably last for a while, especially now that he was angered.

...which meant that Odin would probably be mute for a day or so.

...

Back in the room, only one voice could be heard enjoying the moment.

Grandfather Dan kept on patting Mallory's head. "Lory! Did you miss me? Did you? I missed you so much!"

"G-Grandfather... don't pat me too much," Mallory said as she wanted to escape. She did not have the heart to tell him that it hurts so she could only weakly voice out her complain.

Watching at the odd pair of grandfather-granddaughter, Leo and the others only had one thought...

This is... like a granddaughter complex?!

"Ahem!" Leo faked a cough to call their attention. When he noticed the old man staring at him, his mind officially shut down. He held out his hand and said, "S-S-Sir! I am Leo and I've been taking care of her since— AHHH! W-W-WAIT!"

Hearing the words 'taking care of her' made Grandfather Dan's blood boil. In an instant, he had shoved Leo facing the ground and pulled his arm backwards making him scream in pain. It was a beautiful armlock done!

"What do you mean 'taking care of' huh? Do you think she needs your help? Don't think I'll allow you even if you said you'll take responsibility!" Grandfather Dan huffed.

Leo tapped the floor with his other hand to signal his defeat, "Wait! Wait! I'm just her friend!"

"Friend, you say?" A dangerous glint was seen in Grandfather Dan's eyes before putting more force on Leo's arm.

Leo could not help it anymore and pleaded in fear, "I give up! I surrender! I'm no one!"

Besides, I never said that I'll take responsibility! Don't make it sound like I did something bad!

"Hmph!" Grandfather Dan let him go and fixed his collar as he sat back besides Mallory.

Aldo was shocked that he finally had met the famous grandfather of Mallory. With a polite bow, he spoke, "It is nice to meet you, Grandfather Dan. I'm Aldo, Mallory's ex-fiancé. I— Eh?"

Before Aldo could continue, he saw the world falling down before hitting the floor with a loud thud. He felt a crushing pain on his shoulder.

"What do you mean fiancé?! Lory does not have any fiancé! Never in the past, present, and future! Get your hands of my granddaughter! Is it clear?!" Grandfather Dan exclaimed doing another armlock on Aldo.

"Y-Yes, sir!" Aldo said in fear.

Hearing his answer, Grandfather Dan let him go before fixing his collar once more. "Lory, when did you meet these men?"

"I-I met Aldo when I was young. Remember, you used to talk to him," Mallory explained.

"Talk?" Now that he thought about it, there was this one guy whom Mallory felt safe with. Looking at Aldo, he mumbled, "So you were that guy."

"M-Master Gin!" Jillion called. Looking at him Grandfather Dan raised an eyebrow, "Yes?"

"I am Jillion. I am a huge fan of yours, so I was surprised to hear that you were Mallory's grandfather. I have one request!" Jillion placed his hands together.

Curious, Grandfather Dan decided to entertain him, "What is it?"

"P-Please make me your... your..." Jillion hesitated out of fear.

"My?" Grandfather Dan furrowed his brows. Don't tell me this guys is after her as well?!

"PLEASE MAKE ME YOUR APPRENTICE!"

"You cannot take her!"

The two said at the same time. Grandfather Dan's reply made Jillion confused for a second. Realizing what he meant, he quickly raised his hands and shook his head, "No! No! No! I have no interest on your granddaughter! I just want to learn from you, Master Gin!"

No interest with my granddaughter?!

Grandfather Dan was irked by his words and did a beautiful armlock once more on Jillion. "Are you saying that my granddaughter is not worthy?! Ha?!"

"O-Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! N-No! That's not it!" Jillion tried to explain.

"So, you're saying that you're interested in her?!" Just thinking about it made Grandfather Dan's blood boil and he tightened his grip.

"Ahhh! That's not it!!! I'm only interested in learning and have no interest in pursuing love!" Jillion exclaimed.

Grandfather Dan paused for a second before letting him go, "Well, I guess that's good. But if I realize that you have ill intentions to my granddaughter, I will break all of your limbs!"

"Y-Yes, sir!" Jillion exclaimed as he hid behind Aldo.

Mallory sighed. This was one of the reason why she didn't let Aldo and her grandfather to meet when they were still kids. "Grandfather, what brings you back here? You've gone out for such a long time. Aren't you tired?"

"Gone out for such a long time? I've just visited my friend and stayed in their inn for two weeks. You make it sound like I've been gone for years!"

"Eh?" Mallory was genuinely confused. "Father said that you've been going around the world for a couple of years now, that's why I haven't seen you..."

"What are you talking about? I've been going back to the house at least twice a month just to see you but you were never there. That's why I was so happy to see you now."

"Y-You're not mad at me?" Mallory asked with her eyes wide open.

"Mad?" Grandfather flicked her forehead gently, "Who gave you that thought? Since when have I ever hated or got mad at you for no reason?"

"B-But... I never left the house and... that's what Father said—"

"Father this, father that! That bastard lied once more! Listen, Lory," Grandfather Dan grabbed the shoulders of Mallory and looked at her straight in the eyes, "Now that I know the truth, I won't let you suffer from their hands anymore. I don't know what happened nor do I know everything, but I can be sure of one thing. Your father, my son, has turned evil."
