Translator: Fringe Capybara
Chapter 149 -  I'm a big kid now (1)

Receiving a definitive answer, Cheng Huan was happy. She pushed open the circular door and carried her son out before she asked Jiang MingYuan, “Where are we going first?”

“Let’s wait for Lao Liu first,” said Jiang MingYuan.

Lao Liu and his family were also staying at this hotel. They rented the unit next door, in the shape of a helicopter.

The family of three waited for a little bit before they saw Lao Liu’s family. Lao Liu and Mrs. Liu walking in the front with their son trailing behind them.

The two groups met up, had a discussion, and decided to head toward the military base first. Lao Liu had stationed there for a few years and was familiar enough with the area that he could be their tour guide.

The military base had already been converted into a museum and the original barrack was converted into a showroom.

The group drove to the destination and Lao Liu had never stopped talking ever since they had gotten out of the car.

At the door: “This sentry box didn’t exist when I was here. It was built later.”

They saw trees after they walked inside of the door: “Aye, this tree was planted when I was here. There was no freshwater back then and we’d have to collect rain water whenever it rained and save them for it. It has grown so much since then.”

When the reached the barrack: “I stayed in the third floor back then. There were eight of us in each room. Let’s go check it out later. I wonder if my room is still there.”

The barrack was much different than it was before. It was divided into individual showrooms and show cases lined with glass contained old items that were once used. Items such as shovel, pot, rolling pin, military uniform, etc. All of them commonly-seen items. Nothing special.

Lao Liu missed these common items a lot. One by one he described how they had used these items back then. Under his description, the past turned into lively pictures in everybody’s mind.

They weren’t the only ones inside of the show room. There were other tourists as well. As the displays here were plain and uninteresting, the other tourists were about to leave. But Lao Liu’s recount piqued their interest and they all surrounded him and listened to him talk.

Lao Liu was even more excited with more audiences. He would answer any question that was asked. The original workers in the show room were ignored and was a little bit embarrassed.

There were so many people that Cheng Huan didn’t want XingXing squeezed so she dropped a word and walked out with XingXing. Jiang MingYuan wanted to make sure they were alright so he left with them as well.

The show rooms on the first floor weren’t very big and they have been to almost all of them already. There was nothing special about them so Cheng Huan suggested to go upstairs.

Her suggestion was accepted by both the father and son and the three of them started climbing the stairs onto the second floor.

The second floor two had underwent a lot of remodeling and also more entertaining. The first room was a combat drill room. When they walked inside, they saw a map on the wall. In the middle of the room was a large sand box. There were the red and blue sides battling each other inside of the sand box and the fighting was fierce.

There was only one sandbox but there were plenty of tourists who wanted to experience it. All of those waiting formed a line. The ones waiting didn’t just stand around but continued to offer their ideas up to those who were playing and tried to get them to carry out their suggestions in commanding the troops.

XingXing was still young and didn’t have an appreciation for the sandbox. Held by Jiang MingYuan, he asked to leave after a few minutes.

Jiang MingYuan didn’t care too much about these and, seeing that Cheng Huan wasn’t particularly interested either, nodded and said, “Okay, let’s go then.”
