Translator: Fringe Capybara
Chapter 148 -  The man's chest wasn't pleasant to bump into but it gave her a sense of security. (3)

“You are getting fatter. Did you see how many steps Mommy had fallen back?” His head was knocked on gently and cruel words came from his mother whom he had high hopes in. XingXing was dispirited from the shock. He lowered his hand that was holding up the tank, his head lowered and, with his new favorite in hand, he walked over to the couch sighing all the way and finally plopped down on the couch listlessly, as though he was but a salted fish.

His dispirited look made Cheng Huan a little worried. She was going to comfort him some. She walked toward him. She had just flipped him over when a pair of arms wrapped around her neck.

XingXing had revived instantly and dangled from his mother with a big smile on his face. He didn’t forget to ask, “Mommy, I am not fat, right?”

“Yes, you are. Super fat,” said Cheng Huan through gritted teeth. “Now get off me!”

Classmate Jiang XingChen, one meter in height and weighted 35 pounds, was not small feat dangling on her, not to mention that Cheng Huan was bending over. With him dangling from her, she just felt that her back was about to break into halves.

At the critical moment, the child’s daddy was the one that one could count on. Right when Cheng Huan was about to collapse, he swooped in like a hero from the sky, pulled off XingXing’s little hands behind her neck, and saved her.

With the weight gone, Cheng Huan let out a big sigh of relief. With one hand over her chest, and the flushed face from overexerted herself just a moment ago, she looked over at Jiang MingYuan with her foggy eyes and thanked him gently.

“No worries.” Jiang MingYuan looked away and glanced over at the naughty kid who still had no idea that he was being a handful and said, “Don’t spoil him too much.”

Having said that, he reached out his large hand, picked his son up from the couch, took him to one side, and started lecturing him.

XingXing was lectured by his father for almost half an hour. He was very docile for a period after that. He walked neither too fast nor too slow; he spoke in a mild voice; and no longer whined for his mother to play with him. He happily played by himself on the floor and even build a tactical arrangement with nine model tanks.

As they were there for vacation, naturally they would not be staying inside of the room all day long. The Red Coral Island was located in the tropics and the temperature was 33 degrees Celsius today. The sun was beating down the UV rays were strong. After unpacking, Cheng Huan applied sunscreen all over herself and put on a hat and shades before she changed XingXing into an outfit that she had prepared for him.

When they were finished getting ready, Cheng Huan opened up the room door with XingXing and ran into Jiang MingYuan who, too, had just walked outside of his room.

This was the first time Cheng Huan saw Jiang MingYuan in anything other than a suit. He was in a set of casual clothes but still with long sleeves, pants, and a pair of sneakers. And his pants were black in color. His had washed off his hair gel and his bang fell on his forehead in a refreshing way.

And, even so, he still seemed like the odd one out.

Cheng Huan had on short sleeves and a pair of floral pants. Standing next to her son who was also wearing a straw hat and shades like her, she stood there and stared at Jiang MingYuan for a very long time.

“What’s the matter?” The man felt odd being stared at this entire time. Looking down at himself, he couldn't help but asked.

“Why are you still in long sleeves?” Cheng Huan was baffled. “Aren’t you hot?”

The man pursed his lips and turned away. “I’m used to it.”

The black pants just looked hot. Cheng Huan couldn't help but try to talk him out of it. “Then at least change into a different colored pair. Black will retain more heat.”

The man across from her remained silent for a little while and, just when Cheng Huan thought he wasn’t going to reply to her and was about to head downstairs, he finally said, “I don’t have any.”

He was a workaholic and only had suits in his closet. He had his assistant helped him shop for clothes before this trip. The assistant, seeing that Jiang MingYuan, who always had a long face, felt that he was a very conservative man and probably wouldn’t readily accept any other colors so he only bought him casual clothes in black or white.

Naturally, Cheng Huan had no idea about all those and assumed that Jiang MingYuan had picked them out himself. She gave him an “oh” and walked downstairs with XingXing. By the time they got to the door, she asked tentatively, “There are places that sell clothes on the island. Perhaps we can get you a different set?”

Turning around, she gave him a big smile. “We came together. It’d be better if we have matching clothes.”

Jiang MingYuan’s throat and jaw tightened. He only nodded stiffly after a little while and said, “Okay.”
