119. A Medical Miracle

Translator: Guy Gone Bad

“His temperature goes down!” Nancheng Yunsen cried out.

Everyone’s eyes were fixed on the thermometer. Seeing that Li Qinghao’s temperature dropped from 39.8 degrees Celsius to 38.5 degrees Celsius, they all felt relieved. “I’ll take some of his blood for tests. Jin You, Yunsen, you two take care of Xu. As long as his temperature get back to normal, everything will be okay.” Yingli came back to his senses. He began to divide the work.

“Okay, I have no problem.” Nancheng Yunsen breathed a long sigh of relief. ‘Thank goodness, now my youngest brother can set his mind at rest,’ Nancheng Yunsen thought.

As for Nancheng Lie, he looked frozen and gave no response.

Yingli took some of Li Qinghao’s blood and did an analysis. After confirming that there was no virus in Li Qinghao’s blood, they transferred Li Qinghao to another room.

“He will be fine when his fever is gone. Lie, take care of him.” Nancheng Yunsen was going to carry the freezer back to the hospital. As for Yingli and Jin You, they needed a good sleep.

“Of course I will.” Nancheng Lie sat down on the edge of the bed. Although he hadn’t slept well in the past few days, he invigorated by the thought that the virus in Xu’s body was wiped out.

“Lie, let me remind you,” Yingli said. “The virus in Xu’s body has been cleared out, but he has been given an overdose of antidote. Although the sequela is yet to come, we shouldn’t relax our vigilance. What’s more, you have to pay attention to his temperature. Let us know if something is wrong.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of him.”

The guest room was stuffy because it had been vacant for a long time. Nancheng Lie opened the window to air the room. In this way Xu could enjoy the fresh air when he woke up. Nancheng Lie hoped his Xu would be in a good mood.

By now it was completely dark outside. Xu was in a coma for two days and three nights.

Nancheng Lie walked back to the bedside. Li Qinghao was lying quietly in bed, and his breathing was even. His face was white, pinpricks of sweat welling up on his forehead.

Nancheng Lie went to the bathroom and fetched a basin of water. Then he gave a good scrub to Li Qinghao. He was a little nervous. It was not the first time that he had touched Li Qinghao’s naked body, but he behaved like a shy boy.

After scrubbing Li Qinghao’s whole body clean, Nancheng Lie bent down and gave Li Qinghao a kiss on the forehead. “You’re gonna be okay this time, right?”

His voice was husky. Obviously, he was tired after two sleepless nights.

“You know what? Before I established a romantic relationship with you, more than once I wanted to stare at you with undisguised affection, but I didn’t dare do that, because I was afraid that you would discover that I was in love with you. I was afraid that you would look at me with loathing. I feel like this is a sweet dream. I have loved you since childhood, but I never expected that you would be willing to respond to my love. Am I still in my dream?” Nancheng Lie reached out and caressed Li Qinghao’s face. He now looked completely different from Han Mingxu, but in the eyes of Nancheng Lie, he would always be his beloved Xu.

Staring at Li Qinghao’s face, Nancheng Lie thought back to those carefree days he had spent with Xu.

He loved this man so deeply that he couldn’t afford to lose him. In other word, his love for Xu was ingrained in his soul.

Li Qinghao had once said that Nancheng Lie couldn’t live without him. He was right. Nancheng Lie would have no desire to live if Li Qinghao died.

Li Qinghao, who was in a coma, suddenly felt as if he were trapped in a stove. He muttered subconsciously, “I’m hot… I feel so hot…”

Nancheng Lie was so tired that he fell asleep before he knew it. But Li Qinghao’s voice awoke him with a start. “Xu… What’s wrong with you, Xu?” He reached out to touch Li Qinghao’s forehead. “Xu, you are running a high fever!”

His temperature continued to rise alarmingly.

“Xu, hold on a minute. I’ll get Yingli here at once.” Nancheng Lie immediately rushed out of the guest room to find Yingli for fear that Li Qinghao’s life would be in danger.

It was really so hot… Li Qinghao opened his eyes. He felt as if every fibre of his being was burning with heat. The light in the room was on. He instinctively narrowed his eyes. It was a few moments before his eyes became adjusted to the bright glare of the lamp.

He looked around and found himself in a strange room.

Where was the bathroom?

Li Qinghao sat up. He needed to take a cold shower.

He got out of bed and managed his tottering steps. Dazed and dizzy, he walked into the bathroom and turned on the shower. Although it was June, the water was a bit cold at night. However, Li Qinghao felt very comfortable when the cold water flowed through his whole body. He felt refreshed and breathed a sigh of relief, but soon he felt hot again.

‘Why do I feel so hot?’ Li Qinghao thought.

He narrowed his eyes. Sweat ran from his forehead into his eyes, blurring his vision. He could scarcely see anything in front of him.

Not only did he feel hot, but he ached all over.

He leaned against the cold wall. As time went on, he slowly slid down to the ground. The pain he was suffering now seemed to be the same when he had had an attack of TRKS… No, it was different. He felt as though someone had hold a knife and cut through his bones. “Lie!” Where is Lie?

He had a sore throat and a splitting headache. In a word, he felt achy all over.

Nancheng Lie smashed his way into Yingli’s room and pulled him out of bed. Meanwhile, Jin You, who was sleeping in another room, was awakened by the sound of Nancheng Lie’s footsteps. Yingli and Jin You had just drifted into a light sleep. Although they had fallen asleep, their brainwaves had been still active because they were very worried about Li Qinghao’s physical condition. So, Nancheng Lie awakened them easily.

“Xu?”

They rushed into the guest room and found the bed in disarray, with the quilt pulled open. Li Qinghao disappeared.

“He was in bed just now!” Nancheng Lie was dumbfounded. Was he dreaming? “I’ve just touched his forehead. His temperature is high.”

Ticktack… Ticktack… They heard sounds of water dripping from the bathroom.

They looked at one another and ran towards the bathroom. Nancheng Lie pushed open the door of the bathroom. There was no light in the bathroom. They could only see a shadowy figure sitting on the floor.

“Xu!” The shower head was dripping, but Nancheng Lie didn’t care whether his clothes would get wet or not. He directly picked Li Qinghao up in his arms. “Er?” He frowned.

“What’s wrong?” asked Yingli.

“It’s nothing.” Nancheng Lie felt that something was wrong with Li Qinghao’s weight, but he ignored it and quickly carried Li out of the bathroom. When he placed Li Qinghao on the bed, he froze and his eyes opened wide with shock. Not only Nancheng Lie, but also Yingli and Jin You, who followed closely behind, were stunned.

“What… What happened? Who is he?” Nancheng Lie asked, his eyes fixed on the boy on the bed.

Just now Nancheng Lie had got a strange feeling because the person in his arms was smaller and lighter than Li Qinghao he remembered. The boy looked exactly like Li Qinghao, but was much younger. Li Qinghao was 183 cm tall, while the boy was obviously 20 cm shorter than Li. In conclusion, he… he was a teenager of thirteen or fourteen.

“I’m going to search the whole villa. Maybe Xu is somewhere else.” Nancheng Lie turned around to leave, but Yingli grabbed him by the elbow. He raised his head and met Yingli’s eyes.

“I don’t think anyone can slip into the villa without being noticed by us. If he is really a thief or gangster, I can’t understand why he fainted in the bathroom. Was he taking a shower there? It was so stupid.”

“I need some of his blood for tests,” Jin You said. He left the room to get syringes and blood collection needles.

“Let me examine him first.” Yingli carefully checked the boy from head to toe. He found that the boy was running a fever, but his condition was not serious. “Give me a thermometer.”

“Ah? Oh. ” Nancheng Lie quickly picked up the thermometer on the bedside table and gave it to Yingli.

Yingli took the boy’s temperature and said, “37.8 degrees Celsius. He is running a slight fever. Maybe it’s because the virus in his body has not been completely eradicated.”

Nancheng Lie was stunned for a moment before he came back to his sense. “You mean… the boy is Xu?”

Yingli replied, “I told you that an overdose of antidote would cause sequelae.” Since he could come to life again in Li Qinghao’s body, it was not surprising that he became a boy again due to an overdose of antidote.

At least, it could be explained by science.

“I’m coming.” Jin You came in with some medical instruments. “Don’t say anything more. Let’s give him a blood test first.”

As a researcher, Jin You had never been so excited. If the result proved that this boy was Li Qinghao, what happened to him could be called a miracle, and it would produce a revolution in medicine.

What was more… Jin You shook his head and forced himself to stop thinking about it.

If so, the world would be in chaos.

An hour later, in Li Qinghao’s room, Nancheng Lie, Yingli and Jin You looked at one another without saying a word. They showed great surprise on their faces. The test result proved that the boy on the bed was indeed Li Qinghao.

Because there was still some of the active ingredient of the antidote to TRKS leaving in his blood.

Nancheng Lie pressed his throbbing temples. ‘Does it mean that he’s jumped out of the frying pan into the fire? Or should we congratulate Xu on being a medical miracle again?’ Nancheng Lie thought. He was in no mood to think about it anymore. “Go back to your room for a rest, Yingli, Jin You. Let’s talk about it tomorrow.”

They had a busy and exciting day. Now they needed a good rest.

“Alright, there should be no problem with his body. I hope all this is just a dream, and maybe we’ll find nothing has happened tomorrow when we wake up.”

But it was not a dream. Although it was just as dramatic as a film, it was real.
