139. You Sound Like A Jealous Boyfriend

Translator: Guy Gone Bad

“Xu… Xu… ” Nancheng Lie felt aggrieved. He didn’t know why Li Qinghao got angry with him. “Xu, look at this. I have scrubbed the floor clean and shiny.” He had just had a couple of drinks with Han Ping and scattered peanut shells everywhere. Nancheng Lie thought that Li Qinghao was angry because he dirtied the floor. So, after Han Ping left, Nancheng Lie immediately cleaned the floor.

“The floor is so shiny that I’m afraid I will slip.” Li Qinghao wrinkled his nose. Although all the windows were open, the living room was still filled with the overpowering, unpleasant smell of alcohol.

His eyes gleamed dangerously. He believed that it could scarcely be coincidence. There must be something behind Han Ping’s sudden appearance.

“You are reading too much into it.” Nancheng Lie, who was cleaning the room, quietly came up behind Li Qinghao.  “Han Ping is just my junior high school classmate.”

“Really?” Li Qinghao couldn’t tell why he was seized by a growing sense of unease. Two years ago when he met with a car accident, he was not afraid. A few months ago when he regained consciousness finding himself transmigrated as Li Qinghao, he was perplexed, but not afraid. But at this moment, he was so scared that he felt as if his heart were being strangled by an invisible big hand.

“Xu… Xu?” Nancheng Lie patted Li Qinghao gently on the cheek. “Are you cold? Your face feels cold.”

Li Qinghao shook his head and leaned on Nancheng Lie’s broad shoulders. “I’m a little sleepy.”

It was more like an excuse to avoid the topic. How could he be sleepy? He had just woken up from a long, sound sleep. Since Li Qinghao didn’t want to say anything, Nancheng Lie wouldn’t ask. He made a silent vow to find out what Xu was worried about.

When night fell, sitting by a window and watching the stars gave people a feeling of comfort. The sofa had been moved from the living room to the balcony. While Nancheng Lie was making coffee, Li Qinghao was lying on the sofa with his eyes closed. The clear, bright moonlight shone on his handsome face and black hair. Both of them were savouring the peaceful silence.

Li Qinghao suddenly said, “It smells delicious.”

“You don’t like coffee, do you?” Nancheng Lie chuckled. “Would you like to have a taste?”

“I don’t like to drink coffee, but I like the way it smells,” relied Li Qinghao. Coffee gave off a special aroma. He was now surrounded by a faint aroma of coffee. It felt like he was nearly grabbing something he liked very much but the next second it disappeared.

“You like the way it smells?” Nancheng Lie raised his eyebrows. He stared at the coffee pot for a while and curled his lips into a smile. He poured himself a cup of coffee, took a sip and sat down on the sofa. Then he lowered his head and pressed his lips to Li Qinghao’s.

Li Qinghao’s eyes gleamed naughtily. He knew that Nancheng Lie tried hard to restrain his lust these days. He had no way to satisfy Nancheng’s lust, because he couldn’t get sexually excited for the time being. In his eyes, Nancheng Lie was like a simple-minded pet, who would be pleasantly surprised as long as his owner threw him a bone. Every time Li Qinghao saw the happy expression on Nancheng Lie’s face, his heart was filled with warmth.

Like a shy girl, the moon peeped out from a cloud, staring down at the young couple, who were kissing and cuddling on the balcony.

The night wind picked up the curtains behind them. Everything seemed to be shrouded in a veil of mysterious darkness.

The second day.

Li Qinghao was jolted out of his sleep by the ringing of the telephone.

He was a bit surprised. He picked up the telephone on the bedside table. “Hello, who’s speaking, please?”

“Are you awake, my dear Xu?” A low, laughing voice came from the other end of the line. The speaker’s affected tone of voice made Li Qinghao’s hair stand on end. He hung up the phone without hesitation.

Then a bright smile formed on his lips.

A few seconds later, the telephone rang again.

Li Qinghao answered the phone. “What’s up?” He knew the caller was Nancheng Lie.

“I’ve ordered takeout for you. I estimate the delivery boy will arrive soon. You have some food first. I’ll take you to dinner with my parents tonight.”

“Okay, but after all, now I…”

Nancheng Lie interrupted, “My brothers both know what happened to you. As for my parents, they will keep silent.”

“You know I’m not worried about that.” Li Qinghao always regarded the Nanchengs as his family. Of course he trusted them. “I mean… Alright, forget it. Pick me up at Mu Yinting’s detective agency this evening. I’ll wait for you… There’s the doorbell. I guess it’s the delivery boy. That’s the end of our conversation. Bye.”

Li Qinghao put on a T-shirt and a pair of slacks. He opened the door and saw Han Ping standing outside. He was stunned for a moment. Carrying a bag of takeout food in his hand, Han Ping smiled at Li Qinghao.

“Hello.” Seeing that Li Qinghao just raised a questioning eyebrow at him and had no intention of letting him in, Han Ping spoke first. He explained his purpose in coming, “I came here to visit your cousin and happened to see the delivery boy waiting at the door. I think he must be busy, so I let him leave.”

Was it really a coincidence?

Li Qinghao leaned against the door and took the takeout food from Han Ping’s hand. Sensing that Han Ping had no intention of leaving, Li Qinghao said frankly, “My cousin is not at home.”

“You are not a rabbit, and I’m not a wolf. Don’t be afraid of me. Although your cousin is not at home, we can have a chat,” said Han Ping. This boy got defensive easily.

“I am not afraid of you. I just think that humans and beasts share no common language.” Since he was a teenager in appearance, he had the right to speak in a childish tone of voice.

“Hahaha…” Han Ping couldn’t help laughing. “We are both human beings.”

‘How could he describe me as a beast? He’s… so cute,’ Han Ping thought to himself.

“There is a generation gap between us anyway. You know, we have a large age difference.” Li Qinghao stepped back and prepared to close the door. “By the way, though my cousin is gay, he is very picky about who he chooses to be with. So, don’t try to seduce him. I won’t accept you as my cousin-in-law.” With that, he reached out to close the door, but… “Sweetie.” Han Ping quickly put his foot between the door and its frame and reached out a hand to stop Li Qinghao from closing the door. “You sound like a jealous boyfriend.”

‘Yesterday I thought of him as a precocious child, but now he behaves childishly. It seems that he is a boy of many faces,’ Han Ping thought to himself.
