Transmigrated Into The Book

"Is his skin always this white,?" Sun Wei asked. 

According to the lady's story, her grandfather was a farmer and always worked under the sun so it's impossible for him to have or to maintain a white skin like this. That number one question also struck Xianyu and Qi Zhou's mind. 

The boy, pulling Xianyu's waist, replied. "My grandfather wasn't like that. His skin color is tan, and he was vivacious." he lowered his head and his lips turned downward. "He likes to smile and make the people around him laugh," he said. 

Qi Zhou made an unsure face. The young boy's answer convinced him but the lady's story contradicted it. "Are there any rumours spreading here lately,?" he asked. This time, the lady answered them quickly with a NO.

"Can I get a blood sample from him,?" Qi Zhou asked, slipping out a small knife from his pockets. He didn't wait for an answer, for he quickly slit the old man's palm, letting a few drops of blood flow. His small dagger is a magical tool, it can determine one's blood energy flow. 

THUD!

The lady fainted and fell down, but Xianyu was quick to catch her. Instead of asking Qi Zhou about what he found in the blood, they first gave the lady an aid, placing her in another room.

"What did you find out?," 

Xianyu and Sun Wei were with Qi Zhou. After helping the lady, the three of them decided to talk outside about the things that were cut earlier.

"This is not normal," Qi Zhou said. His expression was intense, like he was thinking deeply. It made the two bring the atmosphere with them. "What do you mean,?" Xianyu asked. 

Qi Zhou took turns looking back at them, making sure that no one would hear them. "It's not an illness, his condition wasn't contagious either." He grasped Sun Wei's shoulders. "Are you still familiar with the cursed pandemic 5 years ago?" The male's expression turned stiff. "Don't tell me…" 

A loud sound coming from inside the house interrupted their conversation, followed by a loud scream. The three dashed inside, and the scene they witnessed startled them. The old man that was lying on the bed earlier is now on the floor, dead. He was totally out of blood now, drained and very dry. And before they could touch the body, it slowly turned gray to ashes, then dissipated with the air.

The young boy rushed and hugged Xianyu's legs. "Brother! Brother! My sister went outside earlier!!," the fear in his eyes dilated back to the male. "Please find her! She hasn't returned," he begged 

Xianyu tapped Sun Wei and Qi Zhou's shoulders, "Please take care of them and investigate what happened... I will find his sister," he said before he turned his back. Sun Wei whispered something. "Come back alive, idiot," 

Although Xianyu didn't know what happened, he still wanted to save someone, especially that lady. She holds the biggest testimony. Her younger brother said that her sister headed to the forest to fetch some water from a deep well and hasn't returned. 

The nervousness in his chest escaped his lips as he made a deep grasp. "C-Calm down," he whispered to himself. Sun Wei and Qi Zhou taught him some attacks so he could defend himself when the situation turned tight.

Xianyu strides the pathway under the moonlight. The branches under his feet are making a creaky and crunchy sound, while the crickets are mixing with the silent night. He can feel that he was already in the heart of the forest and he has seen no one yet.

"Ow!.."

Xianyu stumbled down, causing his butt to hit the rocky pathway. He picked up the big rock he stepped on earlier and threw it somewhere. "I'm so clumsy,!" he scolded himself. 

He had no time to talk to himself, so he shook off his thoughts and stood up. When he was brushing the dried leaves from his robe, a translucent light hovered around him. At first it was just a small glittering one, but when he raised his head, it became bright, like a group of small spotlights. 

Xianyu rubbed his eyes. "F-Fireflies?," 

That group of fireflies circled around him. Every light was leaving bright traces. Xianyu understood what it wanted to say, so he followed it slowly. It didn't leave him behind, in fact it was lighting his way like guiding him into somewhere. 

Xianyu didn't know where he was going, he didn't know either why he was following the traces of fireflies flying around him. He just finds it magical and mysterious. He was so drawn into it.

Suddenly, the light that was once so bright slowly fades away, leaving only one. That small light approached Xianyu and flew around him for the last time before it disappeared. The cold and dim light from the moon again welcomed him.

Not far away from his stance, Xianyu heard a groaning sound. That's when he realized that the lady he was looking for was now in front of him.

Xianyu jolted. He heard another grunting sound from her. She was facing the other side so the male could only see her back. Sweats started to form above his head. He gulped. "Y-Young l-lady?" he called out, taking two steps forward.

His voice was enough to reach the lady's ears. She became aware of her surroundings. She stopped what she was doing and faced the male. "M-Mister?" The lady's voice was different this time. It was deep and husky. 

Xianyu smiled. He didn't want to scare her. "L-Let's g-go home, y-your b-broth…" he was stunned, automatically taking a step back. 

He couldn't recognize her face anymore. Her appearance also changed. Big dark eyes, crying of blood, and a drooling mouth with sharp fangs. Her arms are also longer than before, showing her nails that look like sharp claws. Her dress was also ripped and covered in crimson.

"BLOOD.. BLOOD.. BLOOD.." she chanted repeatedly. The lady tilted her head like she was observing the male in front of her.

Xianyu only noticed one thing, she had a Y-shaped mark on her chest.
