Chapter 286 - World 10.24

"Now it's my chance,"

Xianyu took the white robe from the new set of clothes and wrapped it around his body. He put it on quickly. He first glanced at the door, he saw two shadows from its thin walls. "There must be guards outside," he thought.

If he was going to escape without them noticing, he needed to do it the other way. Well. There is no other way. "The window," he mumbled.

This time, Xianyu relaxed himself and analyzed his own situation. It was only a couple of minutes since the lady servant left him and if he didn't hurry, he would get caught. He glances at the window and smiles. "I guess I have no choice," he mumbled.

With all of his remaining strength, he once again tried to support his body. Carefully and slowly, he succeeded at reaching the window. He stops and stares outside; he looks down and finds no one in there. "Lucky," he mumbled to himself.

Xianyu looks down again like he was analyzing the height difference from his position. It wasn't that high. A kid could also jump from there. A sting jolted inside his system, which made him grasp the windowpane. He grunted his teeth. His body is still weak and if he's not careful, he will surely break his bones or worst, his head. "Did they literally sucked all my energy from that chain so that I couldn't escape?" That thought made Xianyu frown.

"Whatever,"

He positioned himself, putting his other hand on the windowpane. Xianyu lifted his lower torso and flipped over. That body of his landed on the grass as he rolled over. He succeeded.

Xianyu rubbed the back of his head when he felt a slight pain. He was still dizzy. He was comfortably sitting on the soft and green grasses below the tree when his ears heard some footsteps and chattering.

He dashed behind the big and thick tree, only peeking his head.

Seconds after, five royal guards were seen there, taking their morning patrols while talking to each other. Their voices are loud enough for Xianyu to hear.

"Did you know that the Prince, his highness, took that prisoner out?"

"Is he an important person?"

"Who knows, he must be very valuable"

"But he was the emperor's prisoner, ehh?"

"I know, but it seems like they are going to use him as a bait to catch the---"

"Don't say it here. I don't want my head to be cut with you,"

Xianyu compressed himself more behind the tall tree when the group of royal guards passed by. He was lucky at the same time. Hearing that kind of information was tickling him to investigate more about that Prince.

When no one was finally around, he stood up by supporting himself. He leaned on the hard branch first before breathing calmly. Xianyu was weak, but he would never let it get in his way since he knew something.

The loud 'THUD' from his door echoed in the Palace's hallway.

"Pardon our intrusion, your highness…" A voice said the moment the door opened up, "We brought her with us." after that, a cry from a lady was heard as they pushed her on the floor.

The royal figure, who was sitting across the table, closed the book he was reading. He gently put it down and left his seat. "What is the noise all about, it's still early," he was referring to the guard's loud action.

"We apologized, your highness," the two guards bowed their heads with all respect.

The said highness walked closer to them, he crouched down, "Lift your head," although his voice was calm, the lady in front of him couldn't help but tremble, she slowly raised her head but did not dare to look at her highness' eyes.

"Explain yourself," he ordered.

The lady quickly lowered her gaze, "Y-Your h-highness, p-please forgive me... I-I w-was a l-lit--" she was stopped when the man put his index finger on her lips, "I told you to explain what happened, I don't want to hear an apology," he said.

The two guards standing side by side made a grumpy expression but didn't let the Prince witness it. Probably, they are also annoyed by the lady. She let the most important prisoner away.

Back to the lady. She clenched her fist to stop herself from trembling in fear. "Your highness," she mumbled. "I was told to wait outside because the master wanted to change his clothes on his own," she stated, still shaking.

A light chuckle escaped the Prince's lips. "He must be very shy," he said.

The lady didn't answer and remained silent. She was so scared by her highness' calm and sweet voice that she could almost imagine her head being cut today. Unlike the emperor, this Prince was gentle and yet, you can feel his domineering aura.

"Leave,"

That order made the two guards drop their jaws, and one of them stepped forward and protested. "But your royal highness, Aren't you going to order us to locate and find that prisoner?" he asked with the utmost respect, bowing his head lower than his waist.

The Prince glanced at them and smiled. "Are you ordering me? Or are you telling me what I needed to do?" he asked.

The two guards flinched when their eyes met the Prince's eyes. They felt that something slapped them real hard, so they quickly knelt down. "We apologize, your highness.. We are so impertinent," they pleaded. They were lucky that the royal prince himself allowed them to talk to him casually. The emperor wouldn't even let them see his face.

The Prince giggles. "Why are you so nervous? I am just asking you…" he turned around and walked towards the open window. "You may leave now, don't make me repeat myself," he uttered.

The two royal guards, including the lady, bowed their heads and bid their goodbyes quietly.

When he was finally alone, he let his eyes enjoy the beautiful portrait inside the palace. "He enjoys playing hide and seek," he smiled. "Fine, I will do it myself."
