Chapter 291 - World 10.29

'What am I even doing here?' Xianyu asked in his thoughts as he lowered his head, looking down at the carpet. He was now facing the emperor of the palace. Yi-Lin left him at the tree house to get some food, and because he got bored, he went down and explored the area. That's when five royal guards caught him and brought him straight to the emperor's den.

"You dare stroll around and escape! I will not tolerate such an impertinence!" The emperor roared with his cold but stern voice.

Xianyu's arms are chained behind. He was kneeling and facing down. Just like his position when he was in the dungeon cell. 'Why was I arrested though?' his brows furrowed and this time, he lifted his head. His eyes met the emperor sitting arrogantly on his throne. He had a bad feeling about him.

"E-Excuse me?"

The palace guards lined up side by side widened their eyes but didn't move their gazes. They remained looking straight, but the thoughts inside their heads were running. 'How dare he speak to the emperor like that? Did he have a death wish?' they questioned their minds.

Even the emperor was also surprised. It was the first time that someone acted to him like that. He pushed his back from leaning on the chair and stared down at Xianyu. He is not speaking, but you can tell just by looking into his eyes.

He was insulted and mocked.

"What did I do wrong?" Xianyu continued, his voice echoed inside the closed room.

This time, the emperor stood from his chair and yelled. "How dare you talk to me like that?!" He drew the sword of his personal guard and stepped down, "You have no right to explain yourself!" he wielded the sword in anger.

Xianyu clicked his tongue, and once again lifted his head, meeting the emperor's eyes. He was a bit amazed by the man's appearance. He was old, but you can still see the preserved youth in his face. 'Maybe he was well taken care of' he thought.

This emperor assembles Yi-Lin so much, but their eyes and tone of voice differ greatly from each other. "I don't need to explain because I'm the one who needs explanation," Xianyu stated in a low mannered voice. "I don't remember doing anything wrong," he reasoned out.

It made the emperor more irritated that he was now clenching the sword handle tight. He was also emitting a killing intent aura. "Y-YOU!!!"

The door suddenly opened. It caught everyone's attention, including the angry man in front of Xianyu.

"Father," the voice was mellow and soft. He stopped midway and gazed at the execution scene. The male brushed his face. "What did you do when I was gone?" he was talking to Xianyu.

Yi-Lin approached the two, then he pointed his index finger at Xianyu's chains. The tip of it glowed a yellow light, striking the irons into halves. The male was released from his restraints.

He walked towards the emperor and tapped his shoulders. "He's my guest." he said.

When Xianyu stood up, he immediately received a smack from Yi-Lin. "Oww!" he winced while rubbing his head. The prince crossed his arms in dismay. "I told you to stay there, geez! You are not listening!" he scolded the male.

After witnessing that, the emperor got intrigued. 'Just who is this man to receive such treatment from my son, the prince?' he thought.

"Yi-Lin, just who is this man to receive such treatment from you?" The emperor once again gazed at Xianyu like he was already torturing him.

Yi-Lin paused and spun his head toward his father. "Do you remember Uncle's personal physician? Master Lan?" he asked. "He is Lan Xianyu, his adopted apprentice,"

"Yi-Lin!" the emperor's face stiffened after hearing the familiar name. He started to tremble in anger and his eyes almost bawled out. The sword he was holding fell and clanked on the floor. Two of the servants dashed to him and supported him when he was about to collapse.

"Take him to his room, please," Yi-Lin whispered to them, then he pulled Xianyu outside.

As the two traverse the corridors, Xianyu tries to free himself from the prince's grip on him. Yi-Lin didn't even give him a chance to talk because they were walking too fast. He opened a door when they reached the very end of the area.

The Prince pushed Xianyu inside and slammed him against the wall. "Why did you show yourself to the emperor?" The tone of his voice is between concern and disappointment.

"I didn't show myself to him. They brought me there," Xianyu defended himself. "How did you know my name?" he asked the moment he recalled the scene earlier. He was also wondering why the emperor suddenly became like that after hearing his name.

Instead of getting an answer, Yi-Lin parted away from him and lit a lamp. It gave enough light to the room they're in. "Do you remember this place?" He walked towards the dusty table and put the lamp there. Standing beside it, staring at the other male.

Clueless, Xianyu walked towards the old shelves and scanned the books arranged on it. He paused halfway after realizing that it's all medicinal books. He let his eyes roam around and finds out that everything in it was about medicines.

"Are you familiar? This is your home a few years ago," Yi-Lin stated as he watched the fire inside the lamp twirled with the wind.

"What?" The open book in Xianyu's hand fell down. His eyes quickly gazed at the Prince, "What do you mean?" he asked. After a second, he remembered that he had forgotten everything the moment he woke up in this world. 'Now I'm in trouble,' he mumbled in his thoughts.

"Lan Xianyu,"

Yi-Lin's voice was different from the normal. It was stern and a bit blunt. "Don't you remember anything after years of sleeping?"

Xianyu jolted "How did you know that?" he asked, walking towards the Prince. He stopped when they were only 1 meter away. "Tell me the truth,"

The stern look in Yi-Lin's eyes became serene. He straightened from leaning and grasped the male's shoulders. "Xianyu, help me bring my brother back,"
