Chapter 303 - World 10.41

Sun Wei watched the warm smoke from the hot tea in front of him. The Inn owner made it for the lady upstairs. He bowed his head and said thanks.

He went upstairs, carrying the tray of hot tea in his hands. When he reached the door, he paused and knocked. He heard no answer, but proceeded to go inside.

The lady sitting on the bed was wide awake, though she was gazing down the window with her eyes sad and gloomy. The man walked close to her as he put the tea on the table. "How are you feeling?," Sun Wei asked.

The lady didn't answer; she remained silent. The guilt in her heart is still lingering in her conscience. Everything happened in just one night, without her noticing everything because she was under a curse.

Sun Wei can sense how heavy her heart was, though they are not blaming her. But they can feel the grief in her.

"Why didn't you just kill me?" she finally spoke in a bitter tone.

Sun Wei clenched his fist, but remained composed. He didn't want to, no; they didn't want her to feel the burden and blame herself. She acted so rashly and yet she was saved. No one would ever wish to live if they killed innocent people.

"I don't want you to blame yourself," Sun Wei said. He tried to lift the atmosphere in the room, but it seems like he wasn't helping at all.

They heard another knock from the door; it spat out a handsome tall man with his blank expression. When he entered, he felt the sadness crawling in the air. "Pardon my intrusion", for the first time, Qi Zhou used respectful words.

Sun Wei gazed at him and nodded his head.

"Did she eat?" he asked the moment he approached the other male. Sun Wei shakes his head and turns his eyes to the table. The table was still full of leftover foods from yesterday. The lady remained silent in her position, still gazing outside quietly.

That lady wasn't an ordinary citizen. She came from a formal family. His father was the minister of the royal office. She just came to the Inn to visit a friend but ended up having her greatest nightmare.

"Young lady?" Qi Zhou tried to call her name. He got no answer.

Sun Wei tapped his shoulders. He whispered that it's better for them to leave her and wait to make up her mind. They can wait for an answer, but the chaos after it couldn't.

Qi Zhou lost his composure and trudged near the bed. "Young lady, we are not blaming you for what's happened. We just want you to cooperate with us," he clenched his jaw. "I know that you didn't want everything to happen, but did you consider bringing justice to the victims of this chaos?" he asked. His voice was still gentle yet stern.

This time, the lady curled her head down. She grips the sheets covering her as blankets. Her back started to tremble, then after a couple of seconds, tears rolled down from her eyes.

Sun Wei was a bit surprised by her expression, so he sat down on the bed. "Young lady? Are you okay?" he asked.

A mischievous laugh echoed inside the room, then the lady grabbed her head. "I don't know what's going on in my mind anymore!" she almost yelled. "I can see them, everyone! They're hunting me in my dreams every night," she faced Sun Wei with her insane expression. "Say, young master? Why did you let me live? To investigate me? Ask me like your intel? You didn't intend to save me out of concern, right?" she laughed again, then she scoffed and cried.

Qi Zhou brushed his face in disappointment. "I told you, we are going to get nothing from her," he was referring to Sun Wei. Because he was the one who decided to give the blue pill to the lady.

The blue pill cured the lady, but they aren't expecting that everything will turn out like this. They thought that they would now get a lead about the eyepatch man. They are still far from the middle of their problem. There are too many people getting involved and if they don't hurry, it might cause another innocent life.

Qi Zhou and Sun Wei turned their backs, but when they were about to walk outside, the lady spoke. "My friend was a court lady in the royal palace. She had this red pill in her pocket. She said that she stole it from the royal medicinal hall…" Her voice was now calmer than earlier.

Qi Zhou went back and trudged to her. "What happened then? Did you take it?" he asked.

The lady shrugged, "My friend told me that she is going to get revenge because one of the palace guards harassed her, I was angry too!" she let out a gasp "I supported her for putting that maniac royal guard in blame for stealing the red pill." She said.

"Then, what happened to the red pill?" Sun Wei also stepped in.

The lady sniffed as another group of tears welled up in her eyes, "I took it, I took it accidentally...I don't know, w-we g-got drunk and...and I don't know what happened anymore...I woke up with blood in my hands," she gripped her chest. "I w-woke up and I s-saw her, she was dead…" she cried out, letting the heavy feeling conquered her system.

Sun Wei looked at Qi Zhou, who also felt pitiful towards the lady. He hugged her and caressed her back. At least by doing that, he can feel that they are helping. "It must be really hard,"

And the story went like when the lady took the red pill, she felt dizzy so her friend rented a room in the Inn for them to rest. When she woke up, she found her friend's corpse near her bed. The lady didn't know that she already turned into a jiangyin the moment she opened her eyes. She went downstairs, then the chaos happened.
