Chapter 317 - World 10.55
The darkness welcomed his sight, though it wasn't new to him. He knew he would fall here. The cold floor of the cell tapped his bare foot. He curled up on the wooden bed and embraced himself.
It was almost weeks, weeks of being a prisoner. After a minute of staring blankly into nothingness, he was interrupted. The iron door creaked open. He didn't mind it. His eyes went back to where he was staring.
"Master," The voice was gentle but heavy. A lady servant took the leftover food from the table and changed it into another set. "You need to eat," Li Jing said.
She didn't get a reply; she was ignored. Every day, she will visit this prisoner to give him food and a set of clothes. Li Jing didn't even know why she was doing this, even if the male was ignoring her presence.
This time, she stood in front of the male. "Yuan," she called him.
Li Jing knew that it was prohibited for them as a servant to call their master by the name, but she didn't come here as a servant. She came here as a concerned friend. "Yuan," she called again.
This time, Yuan shot a glance at her, but quickly averted his gaze and turned around. "Leave," he mumbled.
The tray of leftover food in her hands fell to the floor. It made a clang sound, but she ignored it. Li Jing approached the wooden bed and forcefully grabbed Yuan to face her.
It shocked Yuan, but what startled him the most was the slap he received. Li Jing cornered him and grabbed his collar up. "What are you doing?!!!" she yelled.
Yuan met her eyes. He remained silent with a stunned face. Slowly, tears fell onto his cheeks. Li Jing cried. "What the f*ck are you doing?!" she exclaimed. "If you want to prove something to him, you need to get up, change yourself and get him back!! You idiot demon prince!!" She was going to give another slap, but Yuan grabbed her hands.
Li Jing yanked her hands away from the male and got up, away from the bed. She turned around and wiped the tears from her eyes. She didn't know, but after witnessing everything, a part of her wants to tie the two back together.
She was with Xianyu while hiding Yuan. She saw how his master would smile while talking about Yuan. She saw how happy they were when they were together.
After what happened in the forest, Yi Lin found Yuan and took him. Since he couldn't tame Yuan, he used another way to capture him by making him fall asleep. After shooting that needle, he ordered his guards to take Yuan secretly.
Yi Lin then put him in a cell deep down in the dungeon. Everyday Li Jing would visit him to give him food and provide his clothing. The emperor didn't know all of this.
"I'm sorry, master..I apologize" Li Jing immediately cleaned the mess and walked out of the prison.
Yuan sat up, still dazed. He looked at the door; it was unlocked. Li Jing never locked it, though. She just left the door unharm, but he didn't even take that chance to escape. Instead, he stayed and sulked there for a week.
What can he do? He had so many mistakes in the past. He hurt Xianyu so much and he was scared to do the same thing again. He even killed his only father, Master Lan.
He let himself be devoured by the demon inside him. He killed innocent people and succumbed to the darkness. Yuan grabbed his hair in disappointment. He didn't know what to do. After finding out the truth that day, he fell into chaos.
It was the emperor's plan. Huanxue planned everything; he ordered one of his subordinates to put poison into Yinzhao's medicine before Master Lan arrived at the palace. Since he wanted the throne so badly, he's willing to kill the first emperor, his brother.
After banishing Master Lan from the royal palace, he claimed the throne. Of course, since Yuan turned insane, he also lost his position as the crowned prince.
Just by thinking it makes his blood boil. Yuan finally snapped. He rose up and took off his clothes; he changed into a sky-blue robe. He fixed himself and trudged toward the door. His hair was still messy, though, but he didn't mind.
He traverses the dark passageway of the dungeon. He wasn't really here as a prisoner. Yi Lin decided to hide for the meantime while he was still recovering.
When Yuan reached the end, he was surprised to see another figure standing there. It's not Li Jing, it was Yi Lin.
Before Yi Lin glanced at him, he whispered something to the two knights standing beside him. The two understood him and bowed their heads before walking away.
"Good morning, my dear brother," Yi Lin greeted him with a half smile.
Yuan just glared at him before averting his gaze. He passed by the prince like he didn't see anyone.
"Where are you going?"
Again, Yi Lin talked and Yuan stopped. He walked forward, circling around his brother. "You stink," Yi Lin commented as he covered his nose.
He continued, "How are you going to take him back if you are like that?" Yi Lin clicked his tongue. "You are a prince. Oh, please act like one," he said in dismay.
"I am not the prince you are looking up anymore, so stop mocking me!"
Those stern words didn't provoke Yi Lin. He instead chuckled and pulled Yuan somewhere. "Come with me, brother," he mumbled while looking around like the two of them were sneaking.
Yuan couldn't stand Yi Lin putting airs in the air anymore, so he yanked away. "Stop pestering me!" he snarled. "Where do you think you're taking me?"
This time, Yi Lin got tired of acting nicely to him, so he smacked Yuan on the head. "Idiot!" he blurted out. "If you hate me that much, then ignore your feelings and let me help you!"
That made Yuan completely silent. The Yi Lin, who's respecting and looking up at him since they were kids, called him an 'idiot'.
Behind his silence, he whispered. "I'm really an idiot"
