The reason why he didn’t cry during period 3 was because third period was PE.

Ruan Yan scholarly asked, “Ran Yan, why do you have to be so stubborn in refusing me? A gentle and graceful maiden has the freedom to be chased by any gentleman. It’s my honor to chase after a fair maiden like you.”

Ruan Yan let out a soft “heh”. “Is it because of Chu Nan? To be honest, I’ve never even truly regarded Chu Nan as my opponent. He’s just a bad tempered second-generation young master (6). Ruan Yan didn’t have time to think more about it. Before Chu Nan’s second kick managed to completely knock the door down, he ran over to tightly block and hold up the door.

“Ruan Yan, you’ve treated all the words I said earlier as wind!” The anger in Chu Nan’s voice had no room for restraint, “Since you want to seek death, then I’ll help send you on your journey!”

Finished speaking, he was right about to add on a second kick.

Ruan Yan already knew precisely how strong Chu Nan’s power of destruction was. He didn’t at all doubt that if Chu Nan were to land another kick, he and the door would both go flying out of the way.

Then, he would be violently bashed out of human form by the Chu Nan who had suffered from being lied to. (1)

Ruan Yan didn’t have time to consider the consequences as he calmly raised his voice, “Chu Nan, you better not be impulsive, otherwise you’ll definitely regret it.”

Chu Nan didn’t eat this method (2) at all, eerily replying, “Really… Then let’s see who’s the one that’ll regret.”

Ruan Yan covered his face. Please leave his first love a good impression ba.

If you knew that Ran Yan was a man, you will definitely regret till your guts turn green.

He couldn’t help but try to save himself. Hesitating for less than half a moment, in the end, he firmly said, “If you’re certain about kicking it down, then I’ll force a kiss on Ran Yan now.”

Chu Nan hatefully said, “Ruan Yan, you’re despicable.”

Ruan Yan coldly thought, I’m going to lose my life if I still don’t act despicable now. Even his fingers were shaking with anxiousness.

Chu Nan continued, “Yan Yan, don’t be scared inside, don’t cry. With me here, he won’t dare to do anything to you.”

Chu Nan’s words reminded Ruan Yan. Indeed, in this kind of situation… Ran Yan would definitely cry.

At this current moment, Ruan Yan was originally already very scared and anxious. He didn’t even have to use much effort to cry and the tears would naturally fall from the watery peach eyes. “Chu Nan… I… I’m not scared. You- don’t come in.”

Both of Chu Nan’s eyes were bloodshot, his face incomparably dark. He looked like he could jump up at any time to bash up and injure someone.

Ruan Yan didn’t at all doubt that if he were wearing Ruan Yan’s clothes right now, then he would’ve already been torn to pieces by Chu Nan.

Only when Chu Nan saw that it was Yan Yan did his appearance become not so scary, “Where is he?”

Ruan Yan replied, “He climbed out of the window and left.”

Chu Nan let out an “en” before walking into the store room without a second word. He went straight for the open window.

Ruan Yan noticed that Chu Nan’s hands had always been tightly fisted, the area where his nails dug into his palm lined with a trace of dark red blood.

He wanted to go chase after Ruan Yan!

Ruan Yan’s hand shook, but he still summoned up the courage to walk up and grab Chu Nan’s hand. “Chu Nan, forget it… He didn’t manage to kiss me anyways. He only said that because he was afraid that you would hit him. We’re all classmates, don’t chase after him.”

“But he made you cry.” Chu Nan spoke in a tone Ruan Yan had never heard before, “Yan Yan, wait here for me. I’ve asked the doctor before, you can’t cry or get angry these couple of days. Behave (6), wait here for me.”

Chu Nan was already angered to this point, yet the person he worried about was actually himself.

Ruan Yan’s mood was complicated, feeling both moved and scared. He feared revealing himself in front of Chu Nan even more now.

Although the plot said that what Chu Nan felt towards Ran Yan wasn’t true love – only what he felt towards the female lead Su Xue was – but from how Ruan Yan saw Chu Nan’s attitude towards himself, he really couldn’t help but think if this still wasn’t considered true love, then what was?

Chu Nan’s temperament actually couldn’t be considered as good. In the novel, he didn’t love Ran Yan and after being betrayed by Ran Yan, he’d even beaten up her boyfriend so that he couldn’t attend school for half a month.

Moreover, in the novel, Chu Nan had once said to the female lead Su Xue, “I can take back everything I’ve given you. Remember, if you ever lie to me then I’ll make you regret ever knowing me.”

Ruan Yan’s current situation was that he hadn’t just scammed Chu Nan’s feelings, he’d even lied to him about his gender. He didn’t even need to think to know how Chu Nan would deal with him if he found out.

Ruan Yan held onto Chu Nan, “Chu Nan, don’t go. Even I don’t think it’s a big deal.”

Chu Nan’s gaze was extremely dangerous, “It’s still not considered a big deal when you almost got kissed?”

Ruan Yan’s heart jumped. He had quite a thorough understanding of Chu Nan. At this moment, he didn’t dare to act spoiled and ying-ying-ying. His desire to survive exploded and he replied, “No. Chu Nan, I’m only willing to be kissed by you.”

He carefully intertwined his hand with Chu Nan’s, “Look, even your hands bleeding. Let’s just not chase Ruan Yan, how can he be as important as you?”

He only wanted to quickly comfort Chu Nan, so he wouldn’t chase after Ruan Yan anymore. He wanted to help Chu Nan virtuously wipe the blood off his hand.

But, as it turned out, he didn’t bring any tissues.

Chu Nan gave him a slight smile. “Don’t worry Yan Yan, I'm not hurt. I’ll come back immediately.”

“No!” Ruan Yan could only block Chu Nan. He hardened his heart and copied Chu Nan’s actions from that day in the haunted house, lowering his head to kiss the centre of Chu Nan’s palm.

The faint stench of blood made Ruan Yan dizzy. His mysophobia resurged and his face turned pallid, but he continued to persevere in licking Chu Nan’s palm.

Chu Nan’s steel heart was melted into a soft pool of liquid. (7)

Ruan Yan lifted his head, the corner of his mouth stained with blood. His lips also seemed to have become more vibrantly red. “Chu Nan, don’t go… Wu.”

He had yet to finish talking before Chu Nan pushed him against the wall, panting heavily.

Chu Nan’s eyes were filled with paranoia. It seemed that he’d been quite heavily stimulated – he’d never thought that Yan Yan would be bullied before his eyes.

“Yan Yan, you’re mine. You can only be kissed by me.” Chu Nan murmured, almost obsessed. As he looked at Ruan Yan’s blood stained lips, his eyes darkened and he mesmerically (8) leaned down, wanting to kiss him.

This wasn’t just a normal ‘dragon-fly skimming the water’ kind of kiss; Chu Nan wanted to kiss with tongue!

But he was a man!

Ruan Yan had a strong sense of chastity crisis. He raised his hand to push Chu Nan, but found that he couldn’t.

His body went stiff. “Chu…Chu Nan, you’re jabbing me…” (9)

Chu Nan didn’t retreat, firmly covering his lips, “Yan Yan, I’ll only kiss once.”

What difference did this have with “I’ll only rub around for a bit, I won’t go in”?

Seeing that Chu Nan was about to make a big mistake whilst being enamoured–

In a single second, Ruan Yan pretended to burst into tears. Because Chu Nan was too close to him, he didn’t dare to breathe properly, and his voice changed a bit, “Chu Nan!”

He extremely fiercely said, “Why art youth like tis? (10) I… I’ll tell the teacher if you come any closer…”

By the time he said that he would tell the teacher, Ruan Yan’s voice had already become choked.

At least Chu Nan’s rationality was called back. He saw that Ruan Yan was sobbing and silently scolded himself for being too wanton with his actions.

He also didn’t want to chase after Ruan Yan to beat him up anymore, merely taking a glance at the store room’s window. It was quite high, did Ruan Yan really have that much ability?

Chu Nan devoted his attention to comforting the uncomfortable Ruan Yan.

Seeing that Chu Nan was still easy to talk to, Ruan Yan took this opportunity to sobbingly ask, “Chu Nan, if you found out that I lied to you one day, what will you do?”

Chu Nan went silent for a moment, “Yan Yan, it’s not like you haven’t lied to me before…”

He truly was an earnest person, but Yan Yan was clever and naughty. He even found those occasional troubles delightful.

Ruan Yan interrupted him, “Not those. Chu Nan, if one day it was some other big thing…”

“Like?” Chu Nan gazed at Ruan Yan seriously.

Ruan Yan didn’t dare to speak. He was scared of being beaten up, and actively hugged Chu Nan a bit tighter.

Chu Nan’s gaze darkened seeing that he was so obedient, “I don’t know. But… the most easy, straightforward way is, Little Psycho, that I might not be able to wait until our wedding day to…”

To possess you.

To brand you with my mark.

You always had to find security from somewhere else after being lied to ah.

Ruan Yan understood Chu Nan’s meaning, and secretly said that it wasn’t possible.

There was no way for two men to make love to each other. Chu Nan’s punishment would never happen.

Ruan Yan wasn’t that scared anymore. He started to consider how to pursue himself, after all, this was a plot task that couldn’t be skipped.

Translator’s Notes:

(1) I think the translation’s not very clear, so essentially… if Chu Nan manages to get the door down, he will discover that there is only Ruan Yan in the room and therefore figure out that Ruan Yan is Ran Yan… Then (as mentioned over and over again that Chu Nan hates being lied to), he will beat Ruan Yan up until he’s misshapen :D

(4) The Mudan flower (also known as the Rock’s peony) refers to ‘women’ here. In particular, the mudan flower was the national flower during the Ming and Qing dynasties, so in this context, it refers to how a woman attracts a lot of people’s attention, and to die under such a beautiful, attractive, outstanding woman (even if she’s the one to kill you), is a very glorious thing (therefore you have a very “elegant” death). i.e. Ran Yuan kisses Ran Yan, gets ‘killed’ by Chu Nan, but it is worth it because he got to kiss the beauty :)

(5) Literal translation would be: Beauty pear blossom with rain, but “pear blossom with rain” is a common phrase to describe a beauty crying (but I still wanted to keep most of the literal translation in so…); the phrase itself was actually first used to describe Yang Yu Huan’s (one of the 4 great beauties) appearance when she cried

(6) Could also mean “be obedient” or whatever… Main reason for TL note is that the translation comes out really… overbearing… But Chu Nan’s actual wording was actually rather colloquial, nice, soft, etc idk… Pls don’t misunderstand him to be the really tyrannical, controlling type lol

(7) Ok, REALLY REALLY inaccurate translation, but- no one can help me cri- (why does milk not translate T^T) Essentially, the phrase was 楚南的百炼钢，活活化成了绕指柔, the inaccurate parts are 百炼钢 (steel that’s been tempered ‘100’ times à which means that it’s very hard) and 绕指柔 (something that’s so soft that it can be bent and twisted around your finger); they’re common Chinese phrases that are used together in an idiom, where basically something very hard has been melted down into something very soft. Here, I said that it was Chu Nan’s heart, but in actuality, I’m just inferring it to make sense in English; it could also mean his resistance, belief, etc. (If anyone has any suggestions do tell lol; and yes, I’m sorry for this huge, long comment that could probably be cut down if I tried but I don’t wanna try ^_^)

(8) Idiom; refers to the kind of behavior that you’re led into doing when you’re scared or anxious when you see the person you love; here, it’s kinda like Chu Nan is so enamored and obsessed with Ruan Yan that he’s not thinking logically

(9) In case it wasn’t clear enough, his ‘thing’ is jabbing him

(10)Lol, I tried- because he didn’t “dare to breathe properly”, and his voice changed “a bit”- his intonations changed and basically, he wanted to say, “Why are you like this?” but instead he said “How do you introduce a ya-zi?” Ya-zi is a commonly used internet slang for yang-zi (appearance), and introduce (the “jie” part of jie-shao) sounds like zhe (this). I didn’t want to translate the literal meaning, so I kinda just modified the words to sound “similar” to “Why are you like this” so oop…

Idk... maybe it was because I translated this in so many sessions, but I feel like the entire translation is a bit disjointed? Hmm... Anyways, a big thank you to thatlazypotato (translator of EGPF) for helping me with some of the difficult phrases in this chapter ＼(＾O＾)／
