Trinitas Mundus - The Story of Saint Knight Ray
Lesson 48: The Agony of Ryan
Tria history 3025, on the evening of December 19th.
Due to the actions of Luke's Holy Knights, the Alliance's General Headquarters was in a vortex of confusion.
Because the captain of the Saint Knights, Maximilian Paredes, forcefully applied to meet Randal Ogburn, the head of defense, and let go of the hundred Saint Knights saying they will now go into the woods to crusade the Demons.
Around that time, Ray was absent because he was on an inspection of the fortification of the walls and the installation of traps, and Randall was desperate to forgive Paredes.
"... if the Holy Knight gets out of the city, it will protect the city when it is ambushed. Why don't you watch the march for us?"
the words of Randall. Paredes laughed with his nose,
"If you crusade against our demon tribe, you will no longer have anything to do with ambushes or anything else. You just have to leave it to Non."
Randall didn't think the Saints needed it to defend the city.
(The Holy Knight only looks good. If you put them forward after you find the enemy's main unit, they will attack you thinking they are the main force. Perhaps if Auga were the opponent, he would suffer damage close to total annihilation with a single touch of armor sleeve. At that time, if Ray retreats from the east gate as planned, the enemy will invariably enter as a winning chance. I have to keep these guys on hand for that and until the showdown...)
What Randall had previously told Ray about measures to make him attack from the East Side was the use of the Holy Knights as a scapegoat. He doesn't feel comfortable with the Holy Knights, so if the Holy Knights go in on their own, he thought it would be a better idea to use them.
(Some of the holy knights may be decent, but they are, as it were, fanatics of light divinity. There's not a single guy in this city who's in trouble with them dying. If you say you want to die, you better have it useful and die. As for me, I know it's a terrible idea, but it's strange because I don't feel guilty at all watching this guy...)
While he thinks about it, he forces Paredes to stick his smile on his face and persuade Paredes to go.
"The sun is already leaning. Why not at least assume it's tomorrow morning's departure? At night, the pursuit won't stay either. Why don't you go back to your quarters tonight and say you'll feed your English for tomorrow's victory"
Paredes slightly changed his mind to Randall's words as he looked up at the sky, which began to stain with a cedar color.
"Don't be a night for sure. It would be troublesome if we let the demons get away with it... um, that makes sense. Will the launch be postponed until tomorrow morning?"
That's what I said, after Alliance headquarters.
The remaining Randall had a slightly tired look on his face, but with Ray back, he tightens his expression. Ray was contacted by Bishop Gastaldi and hurried to his headquarters.
"I heard the Holy Knights are going out?
To Ray's inquiry, Randall tells him with a bitter look, "I managed to make him stop going out today". Ray gave me a horrible look and tried to say something, but Randall started talking first.
"But I'm supposed to go out tomorrow morning. It's gonna be awkward."
"Right. If you find the Demons poorly and hang a little, the end of the battle will be opened before you install the trap. We have to stop them somehow..."
When Ray says that, Randall laughs niggardly and imitates him crying, "Lord of Staff, do something about it".
Ray thought it was a round throw, but he said, "In the meantime, I'll think of a good way," and walked away from the spot.
Randall realized he was starting to rely on Ray,
(This is crazy, but it seems normal to rely on Ray.) With an unreliable face, I always come up with the best measures... I don't look very much like a hero coming out of the hero Tan, but the hero coming out of the story is also out of the picture. Maybe that's what it was like... But even though it's a hero, it would be awkward to count on. Do you want me to work another one...)
To raise everyone's morale, he went around the lookout table to labor the watchmen on the sleepless shift, and also spoke to the residents who had finished the work.
Ray was in the hall of headquarters to wait for Ashley, who followed Randall and directed the training of the young adventurers.
(To be honest, the Holy Knights are too halfway to use as a force of war. With a few more numbers, I guess I could have done the main thing, but only a few hundred people can think of enough to use it for restraint. Especially if you put it in the woods, the only (...) can't take advantage of the manoeuvrability of the handle... I don't even know that, that captain...)
Next to Ray, Stella refrained, but was alert to his surroundings without disturbing his thoughts.
Around 6pm, Ashley returned from training.
Exactly. The whole evening training seemed tough, with a slightly tired look on his face.
Ray realized that and said, "Good day. Are you okay?" asks Ashley,
"I'm just a little tired, but I'm still fine. Wasn't that harder than that?
She had heard Randall's speech elsewhere and was worried that Ray had been taken out.
"Yeah. Not so much. After that, I just went to see if I could set up a trap."
The three left Alliance headquarters to return to their accommodation inn, the Arid Eagle's Nest.
On the way home, Ray was telling Ashley about the Saints.
"... apparently our defeat of the Wingman has motivated me. Mr. Randall managed to stop the attack today, but he said he would leave tomorrow morning..."
Ashley shook her neck sideways, with a frightened look,
"What the hell are you thinking, those guys? Isn't it like going to die, going out at night without knowing how many or where your enemies are?"
Ray nods at it, but groans, "Trouble is, I have to stop it," he says.
"I wonder why you... Lord Randall has also begun to depend on Ray. I can't say this."
Ashley was whispering so loudly that Ray wouldn't hear her.
Returning to the nest of rough eagles, Ray was eating and figuring out a way to stop the Saints.
That's when Luna, who was eating at another table, approaches me.
"It's been my job so far, Hijitsu... Ray..."
Luna almost called you Ray's name in Japan, Saint (Hijiri), and hastily re-said Ray.
Ashley and Stella continue to eat without upset because they heard Ray revealed who he was to Luna.
Luna, wondering, asked Ashley, "You know what? About me," he asks. Ray opened his mouth first before Ashley answered.
"I was telling Ash and Stella when I got my memory back. If it's true, maybe I should have spoken to you after I got your understanding... but did I offend you?
Luna smiles, "I don't care," she shakes her head slightly to the side. And brighten your smile even more, keep the words coming.
"You two know you, too, don't you? On top of that, normally... no, that's not normal, because I trust you more than normal, and I don't believe you'll ever be seen with weird eyes if you find out about me."
As Ray and Luna were talking, Ryan approached.
Ashley and Stella stiffen themselves up and alert him, but Ryan turns to Ray and says, "I need to talk to you later. Just hang out with me," he told me, leaving the spot.
Stella was tilting her neck because Ryan's attitude had changed.
(Has something happened since then? If Luna and Lady Ray had enjoyed talking like now, they would have definitely stuck around......)
Ray thought what he said yesterday might have caused him to change his attitude. But don't talk about it and start telling Luna.
"The Wingman has the hell done it, but there are still puppets left. I think the Lunar Demons, perhaps the most dangerous enemy, are in quite a hurry. So I want you to be very careful. Especially if you're never out of town."
Luna nodded at Ray's words, but mouthed the question she had in mind.
"I heard you were thinking of an operation in the battle against the Demons, but you've known that for a long time?
Ray laughed a little bitterly,
"I don't really know about war. As much as I was reading and fishing for a book on war... of course, I wasn't just reading war memoirs, I was reading something like tactical theory. But this is the knowledge I looked into to write a book..."
Next to Ray and Luna talking about the old days, Ashley was feeling a little bit more jealous.
(Luna knows Ray I don't know. Also about the dreamy country Ray was talking about: Nihon. I just couldn't get into the conversation and didn't think my heart would bother me this much. Is this kind of emotion normal for a woman? No one can hear that. I can't even ask Stella. No, I can't ask Stella. Because she can't get in between me and Ray and maybe she thinks the same thing......)
Stella never rubbed her mind like Ashley did when she heard Ray and Luna talk.
(I believe in Ray. Even if you're an old thinker, now you care about us. So I... but I want to take another step into this one's mind. But I'm afraid to do that......)
Having finished his meal, Ray headed to Ryan's room.
When Ryan welcomed him in,
"I really don't know. How am I supposed to protect Luna? Please, tell me."
That said he bowed his head deeply.
Ray was surprised and panicked at how it was going.
"Keep your head up anyway! If we don't, we won't talk."
Ryan slowly lifts his head to his words.
"You want to know how to protect Luna," Ray exhaled in a ho.
Ryan nodded slowly and loudly,
"If the Demons have attacked you, you can fight them with the intention of dying. But I can't see the enemy. How can I protect Luna from such an enemy..."
He stuffs at him with a distressed look on his face.
"Hey, you must be that“ White Army Master ”. Then why don't you tell me what to do with me, retard?"
Ray was abusive about Ryan, but was surprised by his sincere attitude.
(All that hostility towards me... you understood that Luna was in danger. Sure, if it's normal, just a young lady adventurer wouldn't be targeted by a big enemy who says something about a demon race. Believe it or not, I can't do it. But he finally felt (...) Luna was in danger too and gave it to me...)
Ray says, "Okay," and sits in the chair.
"To be honest, I don't know what to do either..."
Ryan gives a discouraged look when Ray says so. Ray ignores it and goes on talking.
"... I don't know what to do, but my enemies do. And the enemy's aim..."
Ryan said, "The enemy's aim?" and lean his neck.
"Yes, enemy aim. The enemy wants to capture Luna safely. I mean, he wants to take Luna without hurting her..."
Ryan scratched his head,
"I know that!... but they can use the magic of dark attributes. There's some magic about the puppet Kutsuku... so you can't beat the suspicious guy down from one end... what am I supposed to do!
Ray realized that Ryan had been giving it some serious thought since last night.
(You gave him a good idea. I think I'm in trouble in Ryan's shoes. [M] The enemy doesn't know what he looks like or when he'll come out. Think of it like this, puppet tricks are horrible magic...)
"I do think it's hard..." said Ray, then with a serious look, "I want you to listen to what I have to say now". Ray started talking slowly as Ryan nodded.
"I know you already know, but soon this city will be a battlefield. And the odds of winning are extremely low. I'll do what I can, Mr. Randall, but I think it's gonna be a pretty tough fight."
Ryan is suddenly puzzled by an unusual topic,
"Oh, I certainly can't imagine five hundred orgasms. We'd have four of us, one of us. But don't you think you can handle it? Whatever you say, you're a hero of Millice Valley."
Ray slowly shook his neck to the side,
"The victory of Millis Valley is a miracle. There was a rare hero there named Hamish Markat, as well as an elite of the Markat Mercenary Corps (Red Arms). So my plan worked."
"But even Mr. Randall is an excellent mercenary."
"Sure, that guy is good as a commander. Maybe he's better at directing than Mr. Hamish..."
Ryan has a strange face.
"Then why are you so pessimistic? In Millis Valley, there were two hundred allies and three thousand enemies. This time, there are three thousand allies and five thousand enemies. Plus there are many excellent adventurers in the second and third levels. Isn't that enough to win?
Ray doesn't answer that,
"Can I ask you one thing? What do you think is the difference between a mercenary and an adventurer?
As Ryan was tilting his neck, Ray started talking.
"The biggest difference between a mercenary and an adventurer is whether or not you're used to mass warfare. The adventurers only fight in a few units of party. So I don't think even veterans have the experience of a thousand fights. That leaves me with anxiety as to whether my commander, Mr. Randall, can move as he says. I mean, even if you set up an operation, if you can't move right, it's hard to win. Besides, this time it's five thousand in simple numbers, but I think it's more than three times as powerful as ten thousand soldiers."
I wonder if Ryan is that pessimistic and speechless.
Ray said, "You're out of line," reverting to the topic.
"I'll get back to it, but this city is going to be a battlefield. And there's a good chance the demons will be pouring into the city. But it's more dangerous to get out of the city before then."
Ryan is confused by Ray's words, which are different from the way the story goes.
"Why not? Wouldn't a city that's become a battlefield suck better?
Ray started explaining in such a slow tone that he could tell.
"Perhaps a race of demons called the Moon Demons is watching the city. And if Luna gets out of the city, I think she'll be attacked with as much force as she did when she retreated from the village of Thysek. Right now, I don't have the fighting power I can put out to protect Luna. Then you'll have to protect her alone. [M] Three Wings, a few Harpies and a few Grey Monkeys (Gray Apes) at a time. Can we deal with all these enemies, you and your fans?
"You can't," Ryan roared, telling me to squeeze it out.
And looking into Ray's eyes,
"Then you should come with me. Mr. Randall would have said you were a wingman killer celebrity. Then if you, Mr. Ashley and Stella join us..."
Ray blocked Ryan's words,
"I've decided to protect this city. I do want to protect Luna, but we can't abandon tens of thousands of people. Besides, it's not just the power I said. The enemy is desperate. So if you're going to be sure, there's got to be more escorts."
Ryan was worried with his head, but slowly raised his face,
"Well, we shouldn't get out of this city. And if there's a demon spill into the city, you have to run while you defend and fight Luna."
"Right," Ray nodded loudly.
"The other thing that matters is that puppets in the city don't take Luna away from me. I'm trying my best to find it in the Alliance's Intelligence Division, but maybe I'm going to set up a lot of things to get Luna. Then I want you to protect her."
"What am I supposed to do if I tell you I'm gonna protect you?
"If anyone comes close to Luna, I want you to suspect it might be a demonic puppet. So I want you to stay as far away from her as you can... sorry for what you can say to me right now, but this much"
Ryan nodded,
"Okay. Try not to leave Luna."
While explaining to Ryan, Ray really didn't know if the best way to say it was what he just said.
(I really want Periclitle to escape to Orton - a city west of Periclitle. I think if I escort you, maybe we can get out of here safely. But that means I have to stay in Orton City to protect her. I can't do that. Now, if I make a move to abandon this city, the morale of those who defend it will fall apart. So I can't get out of this city... somehow, if I can protect Pericritle, I can protect Luna, Mr. Moon Palace. This is all I can think of right now...)
Ray understood that he was the backbone of the city's people's hearts, and that he was not in a position to think about Luna alone.
He had never felt that his inability to move freely was such a painful thing.
