Episode 74: Lark Hill

August 17th.

The Lunas set out for Lark Hill, the main impulse west of the Empire.

Together with Theophilus Lockhart and others, she had met with the samurai of the Old Known, Count Adolf Rednap, to discuss measures to avert a war with the Holy King of Lukes.

The central city of Netherton to Lark Hill is roughly five hundred km (Kimmel).

The street west of Netherton is called the Western Street and has almost a straight line with few ups and downs. Even if you still used a good military horse, a frog horse, the limit would be fifty or sixty kimmels per day.

Before that, there was also the question of whether ione with low levels of equestrian skills could withstand the distance of five hundred kimmels.

In fact, on the first day we proceeded sixty kimmels and were to stay in a camp along the street, but when we had finished the journey, Ione was so tired that he could not hear his mouth.

Luna worried, "Are you okay?," he said.

Ione stood up and said, "No problem," but he looked pale.

"I'm more worried about horses than I am. Because the riders are burdened with bad riders…"

Ryan is taking care of her on behalf of her, who is tired and unable to move, but her horse moves poorly compared to other horses.

"I don't mean to be a footlooker. Whatever it is about me, move on."

My eyes sparkle. I'm in tears for my own impudence, but I can't leave you as Luna, and I suffer from the response.

(I wonder what to do. Hopefully a little faster. How much... I can't leave you alone when it comes to a safe central area... I wish you had Ray (Saint) at times like this...)

I'll talk to Theo and the others about Ione,

"You know we can't delay it, right? Horses should be switched to replacement horses, but the only thing I can do is get him to hang in there."

Theo was relatively cold against Ione himself.

We know beforehand that it is the forcible army, and it is Ione himself who has decided to accompany us on it. Then Theo thought she was responsible and should end it herself.

Luna also understands what Theo thinks. But I haven't had a tough training, and I couldn't think of it so split up.

Luna came up with something and went back to the tent.

"I'm trying to heal you with healing magic."

I remember Zacharias, my brother-in-law, talking about magical possibilities.

But that was far from common sense.

"I was taught that healing magic is ineffective in fatigue..."

Ione, a veteran healer, said so and tried to say no.

"I would have used it in my house to restore fatigue. And other things like beauty."

That's what Luna says and hangs the healing magic of water attributes all over her body.

(I think I heard it's important to get rid of fatigue substances. Fatigue substance...... could it have been lactic acid? Turn it off with an image that purifies it out of your muscles... hang the dark attribute magic so you can relax at the end... this should do it...)

With that series of magic, Ione's fatigue disappears like a lie.

"You really work! Earlier tiredness seems to be a lie!

"Great. Now we can act together tomorrow."

"Thank you!" And I bowed my head wide,

"Could you teach me this magic? I think water and darkness can be used by me, too."

"Right," Luna explained in easy-to-imagine terms.

Ione grabbed the image in about thirty minutes.

"Does this magic work for horses, too?

"Yeah, Mr. Zach, who taught me this magic, should have hung it on his horse too... nice idea! With this magic, horse fatigue can increase the distance you can go in a day!

Luna went to Theo's with Ione and told her the story now.

"Is it the magic of fatigue recovery on horses? You can use Luna now."

"Yeah. Theo, if you guys are tired, I'll hang up, but what do we do?

"I want you to put it on the horse as a matter of priority because we're okay. After seeing how things go tomorrow, but I'd like to get a little more distance if I could."

The magic of restoring fatigue to the horses played a role.

The distance traveled per day from the next day grew to eighty kimmels, and he was able to reach Lark Hill on August 23, three days earlier than planned.

evening of August 23rd.

The Lunas arrived at the fortified city of Lark Hill, the western stronghold.

Lark Hill is a city surrounded by double walls.

The interior is a standard castle fortified city in the imperial style, but on its one Kimmel exterior is built a simple barrier composed of a simple moat and earthen, wooden protective fence.

This had to do with the history of this city.

Lark Hill was originally just one city in the western region.

It will be the western stroke of the empire, as Luke's Holy King was founded about three hundred years ago in 2701 in the history of Tria. As a result, fortification was advanced, but at the time there was already a small number of magicians who could use earthly attribute magic, and it was necessary to create a fence by manpower, which is in its present form.

The city also appears to be spreading between the walls, but it is mostly the barracks of legions stationed there. Constant barracks were created because of the relatively frequent presence of tens of thousands of soldiers. It also houses a pleasure street for the soldiers.

In addition to this, there are also practice fields and horse grazing grounds available.

The fortified city has many administrative offices that oversee the castle and the western region where the commands of the dispatched troops will be established. There are also shops, but they have a strong relationship with the military and few pure civilians in Lark Hill.

Due to the approaching Luke's Holy King's Army, he was subjected to rigorous checks at the first castle gate.

When it can be confirmed that there is no problem, the attitude of the soldiers is softened.

"You're an amazing horse. That's the Lockhart family."

The famous Lockhart family and the young, albeit over-50 fierce, came to the reinforcements, turning them into a welcome mood.

Ride through the first castle gate and head to the second castle gate.

Still subjected to rigorous checks here, he was able to enter the fortified city in a short time because it had been known that he was an associate of the Viscount family and furthermore head of the Fourth Legion, Uncle Rednap, and the Pattern of Old Knowledge.

"That was a tougher check than I thought," Theo tells Luna.

"Right. At this rate, it seems hard to just meet Count Rednap."

They were headed for the Fourth Corps command, not the inn. Because I wanted to make an appointment as soon as possible.

The command of the Fourth Legion is set up at Lark Hill Castle, within the administrative district. For this reason, it was necessary to enter the castle in order to meet Uncle Rednap.

So is Luna, although Theo and the others are from the Viscount Lockhart family, they have absolutely nothing to do with the imperial government or the army. In the imperial capital and the city of Ezarrington, it is not difficult in itself to meet the Count when it comes to greeting him as a nobleman, but there is just too weak a reason to meet the Count, who is now also the Supreme Commander, in the front-line land of imminent enemies.

Luna and the others started discussing what to do in front of the castle gate.

"I'm sure Brother Zach would have met us soon, but it seems difficult for us," Seraphine says zero.

So Luna started talking.

"Why don't we just say we've got some info on the Humans? You're asking a deputy in Netherton, and you know that you guys are being greedy with the Humans. And in fact, I brought you information about the Humans, so it's not a lie."

"Right. Shall we go with that?"

Theo approached the castle gate and spoke to a knight who looked like the head of security at the gate.

"I'm Theophilus Lockhart, the third son of the Viscount Lockhart family. I have come to His Excellency Count Rednap with information on the Humans. It's information that contends for a moment. Please take care of it as soon as possible."

When the knight confirms in the orb that he is in person,

"What kind of information is that? Can you just give me a schematic?"

"Confidential information. I would only be able to tell it to the upper management if I were to..." I approach the knight with a no and talk to him to whisper in his ear.

"... Humans move voluntarily. You should already be on your way here, but if this information spreads, it will cause confusion, so don't tell anyone but the upper management."

The knight said, "No way! The Humans have never...".

"Don't speak any more!," Theo said sharply, and the knight panicked, "Excuse me! I want you to keep your horse and wait here because I will take it from you immediately," he said, lowering his head and running away.

The knight will be back in about five minutes.

"They'll see you soon. Follow me."

When I said that, I hurried into the castle.

Once inside the castle, someone familiar was waiting for him. Almost as old as the Theos, he wears a deputy badge. The expression is a hard, nervous face.

"We're out of time, Master Lucien. It's in Theophilus, the third son of Masaias Lockhart."

Poke one knee in front of Lucien Ezarrington and drool his head wide. Serra and the others align themselves with the move, but Ryan and Ione bow their heads, poking one knee in the same way as they normally do.

Lucien is just twenty years old, the second son of the current Chancellor, Duke Alexis Ezarrington. After graduating from the Academy of Higher Studies in Teito, he holds the position of deputy commander with corps leader in the Fourth Corps. Even when it comes to a deputy, he's just an adjunct called a second deputy.

"It's been a long time," Lucien said, "I heard about the Humans, is that true?" I hear.

"Yes, I would like to speak directly to Your Excellency, as this is difficult to talk about on this occasion"

As Theo stared straight at him, Lucien was pressured by the temper and began walking "From here I will guide you" to the knight who had guided him through the gate, after such things as "I know".

It goes up to the upper floors in a way that is led by Lucien.

Ryan at the back of the line is whispering to Luna, "Who are you," but she was clapping her shoulders when she said, "I'll tell you later, be quiet".

Go up to the fourth floor and be guided to the back room.

In front of the room are two soldiers in armor standing as sentinels, staring at Luna with a frivolous look, invisible to the military.

"Wait a minute," Lucien said fine, going inside.

While waiting in front of the room, Luna whispers, "That one is the current Chancellor, the second son of the Duke of Ezarrington, Lady Lucien Ezarrington".

"Second son of the Chancellor!" and Ryan raises his voice unexpectedly.

Luna tells me to be "quiet," and I hold my mouth in haste. The sentinels stare at each other, but they circle their eyes because they were bigger than expected.

Immediately after that, Lucien appears.

"Your Excellency's forgiveness has come out. You need to get in there right away," he says, pointing inside the door.

"What shall we do with the weapon," Theo confirmed,

"They say it's fine as it is. If you care, just give it to the soldiers inside."

Upon entering the room, a magnificent man waited following two samurai and three guard-like soldiers.

A magnificent man rises up and approaches Theo.

"That was Theophilus. There's an old shadow left."

That's what Uncle Adolf Rednap said and offered his right hand. Theo took that hand,

"We're out of time. Lord Rednapp."

"Seven years? It was before the Duke became Chancellor."

"Yes, thank you for your help on the streets of my father's Viscount"

Further speaking to Serra and Luna, he explains the two samurai.

"This is Lord Luther Lanswick, commander of the Lark Hill Regiment. I'm also the deputy here in Lark Hill."

So a samurai with a gusty physique and a splendid mustache accumulates a small meeting.

And the other was a relatively young samurai about thirty years old, but had a calm atmosphere.

"And this is Calvin Rednapp, deputy commander of the Fourth Corps. He's my son, as you can tell by his name."

Recommend the chair to Theo, Serra and Luna at the end of the introduction. Lyle Marron and the three others, Ryan and Ione stand behind because of their squire.

"Well, I mean, I've got some info on the Humans, but let me ask you more"

So I started talking after Theo had a small meeting.

"I'll be the first to decline. Until a few days ago we were in action with the Sorel tribe of the Humane Horse tribe. And everything I'm going to talk about is what I saw in my eyes."

"Mm-hmm. Then I hear that you and the Humans are acting together. I'm going to say something that doesn't clap right now, so I'm going to ask you."

Theo nodded small and started talking again.

"The Humans come this way with the nomads. The exact force is unknown, but it will definitely be tens of thousands of units."

"Tens of thousands..." Calvin mutters.

"But I'm not taking sides with the Imperial Army. We're going to intervene to stop this fight."

"He said it was an intervention to stop the war. I don't believe it," Lanswick growled, but Rednap nodded small and urged ahead.

"The man who commands the Horse Race is Lord Ray Arklight, the" White Army Master ”who made his name in the Battle of Pericritle. The Humans called him the“ White King ”and pledged their absolute loyalty."

So Rednap pinched his mouth for the first time.

"Is it true that the Humans swore absolute loyalty? This is more serious than Luke's invasion."

"As I said earlier, I was present on the spot. We see Lord Leeva Sorrell, the chief of the Sorrell clan in the guiding position of the Humane Horse clan, laying flat with his forelegs broken, weeping and pledging allegiance."

Rednap and three others lose their words to that word.

"Lord Ray Arklight appealed to the Humans and the people of the meadows for help in order to stop this war. Lord Leeva was immediately accepted and sent messengers to all the families for the descent of the White King and the request to march for arbitration in both countries. When I followed the camp of the Sorels, a number of the families were already under His Highness the Arklight, as requested."

So Calvin expressed his doubts.

"He's an arc writer, but I know he made a name for himself in the battle against the Demons. But I hear you are a mercenary of the Kingdom of Lax and have nothing to do with the Empire or the Holy Kingdom, but do you know why you intervene and why?

"It's Lord Arklight, but it has nothing to do with the Empire, but it has nothing to do with the Holy Kingdom. Even so, it seems that light theism is just unilaterally involved"

"Phototheism involves unilaterally?

"Yes, there is probably information in here as well, but there is talk in Luke that“ the manifestation of the God of Light (Lucidus) ”descends and leads us to ourselves. When you invade the empire with its manifestation and spread the teachings of light divinity to the world. That Lucidus manifestation is about Lord Arklight. Most importantly, this is what Phototheism says on its own, and Lord Arklight doesn't know much about it."

"So what makes Arklite intervene in the battle?" Calvin asks overlapping.

"Lord Arklight has a strong dissatisfaction with the way of light theism. Some priests exploit it from their simple followers and are furthermore angry at deceiving the name of God at will to wage battle. On the other hand, I am sympathetic to the people of Luke. Luke's peasant militia are involved in the Periclitle offensive, but he was sympathetic to the treatment and demanded that the Bishop of Phototheism improve the treatment. As I'm sure you know, it's a lot of stories."

That's where Rednap takes the story.

"So Arklight is angry at the upper levels of Lukes, who use his name to wage war, but he intervenes so that there is no fighting, because he is sympathetic to the peasant militias mobilized? The poets sing that the white warrior mourned the war dead, but you mean he has Jen's heart."

"Yes, I was under the impression that I actually met him, but I felt he was a humane figure, not a ruthless schemer who had no choice of means for victory. that he is angry with this war and intends to use the power gained this time"

Rednap nods at Theo's words,

"So what do you want us to do?

That's what I said, staring at Theo with a sharp eye.
