Trinitas Mundus
Episode 86: Slave Liberation
Around 11 a.m. on September 2.
Ray was in Westlaw Hill, a camp of Luke's Holy King's Army.
Although the Holy King's Army began its retreat following Ray's persuasion, it is pointed out by Carlo Parenti, an army bureaucrat in the Holy King's Palace, that the Archbishop might plan his assassination.
Augustino, the Holy King who switched hearts by Ray, marvels at the words, but hears Parenti's explanation and affirms that it can be.
Still, Ray didn't panic.
Many beastly slaves served in this expedition, because they thought that if they were freed from slavery, the Archbishop would be able to respond even if he sent an assassination unit, the "Dark Department”.
Ray summoned Uno the Beastman Slave. And I stood in front of him with one knee poked and my head bowed wide.
"This man is the head of the Beast Slave Squad borrowed from Bishop Gastaldi. Remember the bishop, right?"
"Of course it is. Because I gave my own direct orders to protect Lord Arklight's life."
Ray nods to Executive Bishop Maggioni Gastaldi, saying, "Look closely" and hands on Uno's collar.
And with only a slight amount of magic, the collar came off making a small noise and fell to the ground.
Starting with the Holy King in that sight, all the officials of the Holy Kingdom are surprised and lose their words.
"In this way I can remove the collar of a slave for the Beastman Slave Squad. What happens if we free the beasts and stick that fact to the archbishop?
No one can answer that word.
Ray didn't expect an answer, or he keeps talking.
"It would be normal to think that the assassin's collar might be removed if the assassin were sent in. And on the contrary, I suppose you fear that I may send you back with a collar of slaves. I've been abusive to good things that I can't resist. All of a sudden, that opponent can turn against you. Nothing could be more terrifying."
Parenty understood what Ray was trying to say.
(You're absolutely right. Especially in the upper ecclesiastical hierarchy, where beastly slaves are seen only as objects. Well, I may be the same, but at least I'm not doing anything to hurt you in vain. Of course, I have ordered dangerous assignments, but I have never done anything like seize and kick ass assault like they did...)
But there were also concerns.
(Wouldn't the liberated beasts avenge us? If that happens, the Holy King's Office and all the leaders of the Church will be killed...)
Parenti communicated the concern.
"The Beast Slaves are a very powerful force of war. If we lose the way we control it, its power will turn to us. Even though I deserve it, the country will not stand without the leaders of the Holy King's Office and the Church Headquarters in this situation. Please reconsider."
Ray was deeply angry at the selfish reasoning.
(Isn't it ourselves who made us abandon our humanity and tailor ourselves to weapons! I think how much Stella has suffered and become as funny as she is now! I think we should just leave the leaders...)
Anger makes my thoughts run wild, but I also reckon that what Parenty is saying makes sense.
(It is certainly too dangerous to be anarchic. And if that happens, it gives a gap into the god of nothingness (Vanitas). I wonder what it's going to be...)
With that in mind, I realize that Uno is looking straight at Ray.
"Do you have any opinions," Uno says, "I'm afraid," and bows his head.
The Holy King and Parenti, and Gastaldi, round their eyes to the sight of beastly slaves actively speaking out.
Especially so much so that Gastaldi was angry at the act and tried to stop it reflexively. However, he was aware that Ray was treating the Unos with respect, and managed to contain the remarks about buying the unhappiness.
Ustardi's inner grid elsewhere. Uno was beginning to express his opinion.
"Perhaps things like Parenty's concern will not happen."
"Why is that?
"They can only do what they are commanded to do. Even if you remove the collar, if the top man, Lord Arklight, commands you, you will execute it without questioning anyone's orders."
Ray is puzzled by the word.
"Mr. Uno is moving for me, even though it's not an order, is it? Then wouldn't anyone else be able to?
"I have been through a lot under Master Arklight. And what I have learned from that experience is that Master Arklight cares about us and is not tried to give us dangerous assignments. Not only that, but you have also helped my men without risking their lives…"
"When I say that, I get a lot more help. Isn't that normal," he argues without taking it personally.
"That may be normal for Master Arklight. But it's different for us…"
Uno controls Ray with his eyes, trying to argue further, and goes on with the words.
"Let's get back to it, we can only do what we are commanded to do. Now it's time to do something other than what you were ordered to do, but that's because you've been under Master Arklight for a long time. They cared about us and kept us from giving us dangerous assignments, so we always thought about how we could help Lord Arklight."
Ray has trouble figuring out how to answer, all he can say is "Really..."
"I mean, they're not like us. Removing the collar of a slave cannot be rejected if the Supreme Commander, Lord Arklight, commands it. In the first place, a slave's collar is a painful magic item if it is defied, but its function as a magic item is rarely used. Beast slaves don't even think about disobeying orders..."
Uno affirmed that he would not disobey orders.
"If there is just concern, it is in terms of acknowledging Lord Arklight as superior to the Archbishop. But if you declare with an earlier miracle and the fact that you have removed the collar you will never be able to remove, they will also have to recognize Master Arklight as the supreme."
So Parenty interrupted the story.
"So the Beast slaves are beginning to recognize Lord Arklight as the superior under the Archbishop?
"You're right. Several people have already come to confirm. I wonder what status you are in with Lord Arklight. I cannot answer that question. Because it even disrespects thinking, such as which one is superior under the Archbishop or whom God wants to send. So I tell you to take heed of His Majesty the Holiness."
Uno tried to make him realize that the Holy King, the supreme of this army, was indirectly superior to the Archbishop by treating Ray as superior.
"Then Master Arklight said that removing the collar of the slave would not harm us."
"It's my pleasure. Unless, of course, Lord Arklight commands you to."
Parenti ponders slightly into the word, but soon began to make his point towards Ray and the Holy King.
"I address to Lord Arklight and His Holiness the Holy King. By removing the collar of the slaves of the Beastman slave and making public the facts, we foolishly believe that Lord Arklight should show you that he is the master of the true God."
"The rest agree with the idea," the Holy King nods powerfully.
"I am also in favour of removing the collar of slaves. But before I do, I have something to tell you."
When Ray said so with a harsh look, the Holy Kings made their dwelling right.
"The God of Light (Lucidus) is a God that illuminates (well) all the time. Universal is God who gives light to all equally, regardless of beast man, man, elf or dwarf. But the doctrine of phototheism says that beasts are filthy beings, persecuted, and used even more like tools. I don't want to be allowed to stay like this."
Gastaldi raises his voice to the word.
"As you may say, does insisting more specifically on going against doctrine hinder future action? It could give the archbishop a clearance to enter."
Gastaldi's heart did not want to acknowledge the idea that the beasts were equal to themselves. But when I told him that straight away, he kept it to the expression "strategically unfavourable" because Ray's heart certificate was worse.
But Ray argues in a strong tone.
"Even if it interferes with behavior, I'm not willing to admit the idea of not thinking of people as people!
Although I think Gastaldi is young, he immediately pulled the claim in after saying "as you wish".
Ray stayed on the spot and decided to take off the collar of the beastly slaves with more than a thousand.
If you just take off the collar, it won't take five seconds, and the use of magic is no big deal. But I couldn't imagine how long it would take for the numbers alone.
Ray asked the Holy King to direct the withdrawal of his army.
"I ask you to direct my return. Because I hereby decide to remove the collars of the beastly slaves. Even if the Imperial Army moves against my wishes here, I can respond adequately, and with the mobility of the people of the meadows, I can catch up immediately."
The infantry-centered march speed of the Holy King's Army is limited to 20 km (Kimmel) per day in the enemy territory of the Empire.
The time is already before noon and only about ten kimmels can travel by sunset. The marching speed of the meadow people on the other side is more than ten kimmels an hour. If we start moving before sundown, we can catch up adequately.
"As you wish," said the Holy King, bowing his head, to Langes Fortunato and Parenti, who left it to his deputy generals, "Let's go! ordered."
Fortunato, when he said "your will," immediately ordered the Holy Knights to leave. But Parenty tells him that he will act with Ray by saying, "I am also the head of the Beast Slave Corps".
Gastaldi also insists that "I will help Lord Arklight, too" will remain.
Parenti summons the beastly slave of the commanding officer,
"Assemble all units here immediately. Everything, including those in scouts and those monitoring the Imperial Army."
When the command lowered its head small, it disappeared without sound.
"We will return to the people of the meadows. Because you're all worried."
That's what I say and try to get down the hill, but one beast after another begins to show up before him.
"Where were you?" Hamish shrugged to be shrugged, and his deputy, Alberic Auger, also shook his neck sideways saying, "Even I didn't notice at all".
Going down the hill, mercenaries from the Mercenary Corps of Markat (Red Arms) and the people of the meadows waited with a relieved look on their faces.
"What happened?," Theophilus Lockhart asked.
It was somehow possible to detect an anomaly from beneath the hill, but we could see the Holy King's army withdrawing solemnly, and we were in doubt.
"There's a lot going on... I can't say it in a nutshell, so I'll explain later. I don't have much time right now..."
"What are these people?," Theophilus' twin sister, Seraphine, hears.
Her eyes were full of expectations that she might be able to fight the mighty.
"I will remove the collar of these slaves here. So it won't be a fight."
Already behind him are more than a hundred beastly slaves, more and more.
"You're taking everyone's collar off?" and Valeria, who was in command of the Red Arms as an answering machine, gives a shocked voice.
"Yeah, it'll take a little while, so the standby on this occasion is a continuation. Just be sure to be on perimeter alert. And then I need you to do me a favor, Mr. Theo, and I need you to issue a message to Lark Hill to see how the Imperial Army is doing. Then ask Mr. Leeva and the others to wait there another day tomorrow."
On the outskirts of Lark Hill, the front base of the Imperial Army, there are nearly seventy thousand grassland people warriors.
Reeva Sorrell, the chief of the Sorrel tribe, commands its warriors, but the people of the meadows were expected to struggle, regardless of Ray's orders, the “White King," many of whom were unwilling to follow the orders of others.
Confirming that the transmission and scouts of the Humane Horse (Centaur) tribe had run out, Ray decided to remove the collars of the beasts waiting nearby.
"I think Lord Parenti tells me that I am Ray Arklight. I'm going to take off your slave collar now, so can you line up?"
The beasts show confusion in the words.
"Lord Archrite is the manifestation of the God of Light (Lucidus)! In other words, he is at the top of the archbishop!
The beasts begin to line up honestly in Parenti's words and lay flat in front of Ray.
Ray feels dark about the behavior, but now he decides to break it off if he has no choice.
"I will now remove your collars! Don't worry, removing your collar won't kill you!
As soon as I shouted that much, I said, "I'll take it off the nearby people in order," and I called out to the leading, lying beast man.
"Then I'll start with you. Nothing to worry about."
Put your hand on the collar of a laying beast with that said.
The collar fell along with the sound of kachiri. The removed beast man circles his eyes to surprise as if he had forgotten his usual faceless look, but Ray went straight ahead of the next beast man.
Per capita, it won't take ten seconds, and uses little magic, but it's a lot of numbers. About three hours later, I removed about five hundred people, but half were still there.
"Why don't you take a break? To Ashley's words," Right. Let me rest a little, "he said, lowering his hips to the ground.
"And that's a great number," Ashley mutters.
The beasts that Ray took off his collar remained on the spot without a seat.
"How about the people who took it off," Gastaldi confirmed.
"Right. All the people of the meadows will do the perimeter vigilance, and may I ask His Majesty the Holy King and the guards of the other important ones to turn to? It's tough in case something happens."
"May I escort Master Arklight?
On that question, Ray shook his neck to the side and said, "I have a company called Uno's," and said no.
"Now let us turn to the escort of His Majesty the Holy King and the escort of Sir Fortunato and other important figures. But still, I think a lot of people are spared?
"That's right," Parenti has expressed his opinion.
