9 A tough figh
Soon Jay had arrived looking out at the approaching Goblin army. After going up the wooden rampant he could see there were indeed about 50. Most of them had basic stone weapons other than the 3 exceptions.
There was 1 Goblin that looked much like the others but held a low-grade staff with a gem on top signifying he was a mage. Then there were also 2 goblins that were a little taller and had elven ears showing them what race these groups previous victims were of.
Soon 2 lines of 10 armed soldiers came up greatly surprising him. The people who were farmers just 2 days ago had now transformed into an organized force. Each of their faces seemed devoid of any fear which was way better than the expected result already.
He was clear about his choices. The first option was to wait out the attack. Depending on the capabilities of their mage they might not be able to breach the walls. However they then would most certainly come back soon with a fire or more people. At that point he could only hope they managed to luck out on a bowmaker during the time they were gone.

The other option was to go out and fight. Even though they were most certainly going to suffer losses it would get them battle experience and a few more weapons. In the end, he wasn't the one to make the choice.
| Fighting For Power Mission 1: Kill all goblins |
| Reward: F+ grade armor, ? |
The reason why he immediately decided to kill them all at that point wasn't for that reward, it was because of the nature of that situational mission. Since it said 'Mission 1' that also meant that it was highly likely it would be part of a chain of missions, only giving the real rewards later on.
As the goblins were about to start attacking the walls the gate suddenly opened revealing 2 rows of soldiers, swordfighters in front with supporting spear fighters just behind them. A thing as small as this naturally wouldn't scare the goblins, certainly not since they could clearly see some of these 'soldiers' seemed to be scared of them while others weren't able to keep their spears sufficiently stable.
No matter how hard he trained them fully transforming farmers into soldiers was simply impossible. The goblins attacks were very different then what these farmers had expected. After all General Green himself had an extremely limited amount of expertise fighting goblins so in the end they were trained to fight humans.
The goblins were extremely reckless creatures, running at them as a pack of hungry wolves their formation instantly fell apart.
With a formation such as this all it took was 1 soldier to get scared and the entire formation would quickly fall apart. Soon a brawl started, as every soldier had to fight 2 goblins defeat seemed imminent. Whenever another soldier fell the pressure on the others would increase once more.
Blood soon covered many of the goblin's faces making them look more ferocious than ever.
Behind the fights 3 goblins stood still, silently looking at the brawl before them. If something happened they would be able to quickly interfere but in a battle like this their skills were mostly useless. The archers didn't have the best aim and the magician only knew AOE (Area-Of-Effect) spells.
As these three looked upon the battle the mage seemed to feel an odd touch against the back pf his soldier. As he turned his head to look at what that was his eyes opened widely as a green liquid started flowing from the side of its mouth.
As general Green killed this magician who was by far the biggest threat against himself he obviously got spotted by the 2 half-elf goblin archers who both ran to different sides taking turns shooting at him. Even though sooner or later it was clear the General would be able to catch them they tried to keep kiting him while the other goblins finished up the humans.
The situation was clear for all to see. The soldiers despite being more ferocious then before were all wounded and desperately taking on 3 goblins each. Green and red blood mixed making the ground filled with a brown liquid. Something which in turn caused it to become muddier making traversing harder for all.
Once the fight was reaching its end loud laughter could be heard.
"Good, good. You all truly are worthy of being part of my army." Jay's well-defined face could be seen among the mayhem, walking in the middle of the battlefield as if on a stroll.
Hearing this human laugh obviously enraged the fierce goblins, causing 2 of them to immediately jump at him. Yet just a moment later both of these ferocious creatures died. As one was impaled by the spear and another hit by his glowing hand, burning its face off.
The rest of this battle could only be called utterly confusing. As after every goblin this crazy human killed, they had to think of whether they should disengage their current opponent to go after him or not.
This ofcourse was the reason he had decided to attack now. The goblins were only going after him 2 at a time which allowed him to easily dispatch him. In the eyes of the soldiers this would make it seem as if he was some crazy strong being who didn't even put this goblin in his eyes. While in fact, if he were to be attacked by 4 goblins at once he wouldn't be able to do much better then these soldiers. After all such a fight would quickly take up more and more time thus draining his stamina.
The thing that surprised him most was his magic capacity. Despite only having 3 mana he was able to dispatch 6 enemies with the basic level burning hand spell. This was nearly double the efficiently he had in his previous life, an enormous difference.
Not only did Jay dispatch about a dozen enemies, he also reignited the troops fighting spirit.
As the humans they were fighting were acting more ferocious and the enemy besides them seemed to dispatch of any goblin that would come at him some of the goblins entered a confused state. They had never experienced something like this. When they would meet a strong opponent an explosion would happen and the enemy would die. These dumb creatures didn't even realize that was the mages doing as anything other than rushing followed by killing, burning and capturing women was beyond their understanding.
At this point the goblins were defeated. As some just stood still out of confusion while stopping their attacks. Just as they finished up the last goblin, General Green also returned unharmed after having killed the archers.
