Where Secrets Lie
Chapter 61:The Trick
"He wants to make sure we don't crash that coronation," said Michael.
Kara headed toward the door and grabbed her jacket off the hook. She swung it around, slipping her arms through the sleeves, "And it worked." She pulled her hair from underneath the jacket's collar. Her locks brushing against the leather.
"What about the coronation? Don't let emotions take over. Think rationally," pleaded Hannah.
"I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to get my sister," Kara replied. Her hand resting on the knob, despite the warning.
"I'm coming with you," said Logan, taking his place beside her.
"Me too," said Amy.
Michael shook his head in agreement, "Let's go then."

An hour later, the determined group pulled up to an abandoned building in Newtown. The green glowing sphere, Michele produced, shattered into pieces after it led them to the destination. They filed out of the car and cautiously walked into the building to find themselves in an open lobby on the ground floor.
A large group of vampires stood on the balcony above, looking down at them. The girl in the mask stood at the front and center of the group. "We've been waiting for you," the girl said with an eerie tone. A creepy smile spread across her face, "Kill them."
Some of the vampires jumped down to attack. In an instant, Michael took out four of them. Their hearts and heads were soon scattered on the ground.
"What are you waiting for? Kill them!" The girl yelled with fury.
As the girl was preoccupied with shouting, Logan managed to sneak away from the group. He pulled the support beam from under the balcony. The floor gave way and the girl came sprawling down with it. A huge boom filled the room. As the dust settled, Logan picked her up from the rubble as he ripped the mask from her face.
"It's not her." Kara sighed then took out her phone, "You were right." She looked around, her phone glued to her face. "They probably moved her as soon as we got here. They are coming toward you. Be careful, Kara."
The wounded girl looked up with confusion. "If you just called Kara, then who are you?"
Kara looked down at her with a smile upon her face. White lights buzzed around her head then her features transformed, revealing herself to be Michele. With wide eyes, the girl looked at Logan just in time to see him transform into Henry, who had remained a loyal servant to Michael. Lastly, she looked at Michael and watched as he turned into Alex.
"Alexander!" His name echoed off the walls from the vampires in unison.
"Alex," said Amy with a saddened look.
"I know. No one can leave this warehouse," he replied.
Alex and Amy worked together to eliminate the rest of the vampires. When they were done, they approached the servant who posed as Alyssa. "Please, don't kill me," she pleaded as she held her broken arm. She was trying to crawl away like a worm from a bird.
"Do we have to?" Amy asked. "You know she probably had no choice in this."
"You're probably right," Alex said. "Henry, will you take care of it?"
Henry nodded and looked deep into the girl's eyes, compelling her. "I want you to forget this place, forget that vampires exist. Don't you think St. Louis is a wonderful place to move? You'll relocate there, find a nice human man and enjoy your life as your own master."
"Yes, I have been wanting to move to St. Louis," she said in a daze.
Amy looked at him and smiled. "Well, it's all up to them now."

Kara hung up the phone. "Michele said they're coming this way."
"Let's get ready," responded Michael, squeezing her hand.
"I've been ready."
Elijah walked to the ballroom where the coronation was being held. He looked around suspiciously, becoming angrier by the second. "What is going on?" He yelled at the top of his lungs.
Kara appeared from around the corner. "Awkward, isn't it?"
"Oh look who it is! You're like gum at the bottom of my shoes that I can't scrape off," growled Elijah, sliding his hands into his pockets.
"Ouch. Hurtful," said Kara.
"Where are my guests?" asked Elijah.
"I just redirected them to the Art Museum for the coronation instead," said Kara, grinning.
A girl wearing a mask came running in with two other vampires. "Where are all the guests?" However, she lost interest in her question as she spotted Kara.
"We've been waiting for you," said Kara with a warm smile.
"We?" asked Elijah.
His answer came as Michael darted out from the room behind him. He seized Elijah and threw him across the room.
"Attack her!" the girl in the mask ordered the vampires. She turned around to flee, her long gown trailing behind her.
"Go!" Logan said, killing the vampires with ease. Kara dashed after the girl, praying it really was Alyssa this time.
Elijah jumped to his feet. "You think you can stop me?"
"We will stop you!" Logan roared as he shook the blood off his hands.
As she ran, Kara heard the battle between Elijah, Michael, and Logan begin, but it wasn't her concern at that moment. The masked girl continued running through the hallway, and Kara wasn't going to lose sight of her this time. The servant glanced behind her to see if Kara was following, and when she spotted Kara hot on her heels, she turned back around to increase her speed. However, just as she turned her head back, Hannah appeared before her.
She skidded to a halt. "You are helping them? Hannah, you are so weak!" The girl snarled.
Kara approached the servant. "Give it up. You're trapped."
"And take off that ridiculous mask. It's not even cute," Hannah added.
"If you say so." She slid off the mask without a fight.
The look on Hannah's face told Kara what she already knew, but she couldn't help feeling hurt as the girl turned to face her.
"Alyssa?" Kara whispered.
