Where Secrets Lie

Chapter 67:Newborn

"AGHHHHHHHHH," Kara let out a blaring painful cry as Alyssa's teeth sunk into her flesh.

Michael quickly pulled Kara away, blood trailing behind them. He placed his hand on her cheek, "You alright?"

Kara nodded her head up and down as she placed her hand on her shoulder, wincing at the pain. Her hand trembled as it was coated in blood. Kara's eyes cut to the girl in the bed, blood pouring from her mouth. Her eyes trained on Kara as she tried to fight out of Logan's grip.

Alyssa's body is there, but that's not Alyssa.....

Kara just stared at her, tossing back and forth, trying to escape her confinement as if she was possessed.

"Go!" exclaimed Logan.

Everyone hastily piled out of the bedroom, understanding that Logan would take care of things, but Kara hesitated. "No, I'm not leaving her like that," she said.

"I got this, Go!" Logan demanded once again.

Michael gently pushed Kara towards the door. Alyssa's roars became muffled as the door closed behind them. Kara fell back onto the hallway floor, feeling woozy. Michael kneeled beside her. He tore her shirt at the shoulder to examine the wound. "She got you good."

Kara lowered her head with ragged breathing, trying to fight the urge to pass out.

Michael bit his wrist and offered it to Kara. "I know you can heal yourself but it'll speed up the process." She guided his arm to her mouth and took a huge gulp. He swiped his thumb over the corner of her lips to remove the hint of crimson liquid.

Kara's breath started to return to normal as her injury began healing. She gazed into Michael's grey eyes, "Thank you."

He pushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear, "Of course."

"Alyssa!" Kara snapped out of the loving moment in a frantic realization. She burst through the door to find the room empty. Angry, she spun around, "Where did they go?" her eyes wide in fear.

"I don't know, but Logan loves your sister. He won't let anything happen to her," Michael assured her, stroking her hair. "Being a newborn vampire is difficult and Logan will help her through it.

Although Kara didn't like not being involved in the decision, she trusted Logan. The curtains stopped flapping in the wind as she closed the window. She looked out into the darkness wondering where Logan took her sister.

Logan and Alyssa pulled up in front of Immortal. They sat there in silence for minutes. Scantly clad women occasionally passed by.

Alyssa finally spoke up, "Is Kara okay?" she asked in a whisper.

The car turned dark once more as Logan slipped his phone in his pocket, "Yes, Michael said she's fine."

"Good." She sunk into the bucket car seat. Her eyes trailed out the window, "What are we doing here?"

"You'll see." Logan exited the car and walked around to open her door. He led her through a side door of the building. Up three winding flight of stairs, they came to a huge metal door. Logan keys jingled as he inserted the key into the lock. He flicked on the light to the right to reveal an open layout apartment.

"I didn't know this was up here." Alyssa looked around in awe.

Logan smiled at Alyssa's look of amazement. It reminded him of the old times, times that he missed. "I was always here, crashing on the couch in the office when I overlooked the club..." He threw the keys on a nearby table. "..so Michael had it built for me." He pulled out a seat at the table and motioned for Alyssa to sit. He rubbed his finger over her knuckles as he held her hands, "Alyssa, we thought you were dead for months. What happened? How are you here?"

She took a deep breath to begin her story, "I woke in this unfamiliar room and the last thing I remembered was being shot by Kate. I just remember feeling hungry..." She looked up from her hands, "..really hungry. Elijah came in, he told me that he saved me."

"I'm so sorry Alyssa," Logan said. "We should have made sure." He rose from the table, fists clenched. "No wonder Elijah insisted on a closed casket memorial." He looked back at Alyssa, his anger melting away at the sight of her. He sat back in the seat, "Then what happened?"

"So he turned you and didn't teach you how to feed?!" He kicked the chair to the ground, "He turned you, then replaced your soul with Catherine's. I'm going to enjoy killing him," Logan closed his eyes, and let out a breath to calm down. He needed to remain emotionless if he was to teach Alyssa how to feed without killing someone. It took a lot to anger Logan but hearing what Elijah did to the woman he loves made his blood boil.

Alyssa placed a calm, gentle hand on Logan's arm. "Logan," Her eyes turned a bright hazel color, "I'm hungry."
