World Of Warcraft: Altered Time
Chapter 7 - A small quest before the beginning of a long one. (Wednesday March 1, 4:00 P.M.)
"Alright, you need a name dammit. So what's it gonna be?" Azul said stopping at the gate.
"Arion is my name." The young man said before relaxing. "So we are heading to the Dead Scar? Just the three of us. That is a lot of land to cover."
"Just a small bit of it anyway." Azul looked at the changing landscape. Traveling for a few hours the trio barely spoke. The closer they made it to the destination, the more the landscape changed. More twisting negative energy. Dark Fel magic in the air.
The grass loss its life force from the passing burning legion. Despite the years that have passed, it was still stuck decaying. With a small animal traveled to close it wall fall down wiggling. In a matter of seconds, it was dead. A small trace of energy would flow around the body for a moment. The energy would then travel towards old corpses animating them into new undead. New undead went after anything alive repeating the cycle all over again.
Spreading his hands Azul blessed the other two. "This will keep you from turning outright into them. However, dont stand still and get munched on."
Cutting his palm, Azul let a drop fall to the ground. A small magical swirl ball opened up.
"What is that magic?" Nocturne asked in wonder. "It feels like Druid magic and Light magic."
"It is. The closes to life energy. Also a beacon for the undead. Do get ready to fight for your lives." Smiling Azul swung his sword attacking the first wave of undead. "It is time to grind!"
Nocturne prepared a spell as Arion stood close to her. From his shaky expression, one could tell he was frightened a little. With good reason at least 12 undead marched over. Drawing closer they started to actually run when they sensed the energy.
A wave of magical energy engulfed Arion and Nocturne. A small shimmering shield then appeared. It floated around their bodies to keep them from getting overrun.
"Graaaa," the undead grumbled. Its putrid claws scratched Azul's sword. Little sparks flew around the weapon. Reeling back it tried to swing at Azul's face. The strike missed its mark. Sword caught against claws in the next strike.
"Screech," the sword screamed against the talons. Sparks flew to the side. Azul could feel the soulless stare trying to unnerve him. It was using basic intimidation. Well it tried to use. But Azul had seen much worse in hell. This was nothing to him.
Raising the sword up, Azul pushed the undead back. Watching its leg buckle he lifted the sword quickly and brought it back down full force. The sword cut right through unobstructed. As the body split in two, black blue energy flew off towards the drop Azul placed earlier.
"Heh, get ready something bigger is coming." Swinging in a slight whirlwind the other undead were killed instantly. Having been freshly animated made it easy.
Taking his cue, the other two pushed harder to get rid of the ones that were present. "I don't think I am ready to deal with something bigger," Arion said sadly. Nocturne smiled before firing an arrow at the closest undead.
"Twang!" The arrow took its head off its shoulders. "There we go. Enough breathing room to prepare this next spell. Her hands started to glow with arcane might. "Arcane arrows!" The swirling arrows fired off attacking the undead that was way out of range. This made them turn in her direction. Pulling and knocking a few more arrows she started to fire again. 'I don't know why Ks told me to get more of these foul creatures to come. But I guess there is a reason.' One undead made it towards her backside.
"Well time to put in some serious work," Nocturne said a little angry. She did not enjoy being weak. For a second she thought of all the power she wielded as a Warlock. "No! I will make this work." With arcane energy pouring off her she prepared her next spell.
Nocturne floated around the battlefield. Hurling arcane bolts of energy. Each bolt burned a hole through an undead. Circling back around and hitting another before it burned out. Nocturne supported Arion closely. Every once in a while she would send a bolt towards Azul when a new undead was close.
Four undead approached Azul from the side. Much bigger than the others. Each still had their skin and armor. The one in the front looked like a Dranei warrior. As his giant mace came down, Azul sidestepped it. With a quick slash of his sword against the undead knuckles, "bing" a sound of metal echoed out. The Dranei had blocked with his gauntlet.
The black iron barely received a scratch. Azul eyes narrowed. "You are still clinging on." Smiling Azul started to get excitied. "Thank you for holding on for so long. I wish to test something. You will be the guinea pig." Mumbling a small incantation he ensnared the undead in a spell.
The spell was Magical Insight. It allowed him to find the different magics inside the creature as he fought against it. It would take a while before anything was revealed.
The Dranei zombie groans loudly. The others walked pass attacking Nocturne. It was safe to assume they thought her the bigger threat.
" Grrooo!" Throwing its shield out, the undead stomped on the ground causing it to shake. A small crevice opened up. This resulted in setting free more energy into the air.
With the flick of the sword, Azul hit against the front of the shield. "Bing," it bounced off sailing into the air. Swinging its war mace down at Azul, magic energy poured from its eyes.
"Hup," with a grunt, Azul jumped away. The mace lodged into the ground. With a backswing of the sword, it cut into the Dranei side. Flesh parted and black blood dripped out. Instead of the wound healing with the magic from the dead scar, it stayed normal. The magic couldn't reach. So no healing, quite simple.
Raising his hand to block it, "umph" he grunted. "You are strong. Thanks for helping me understand the vast difference in our physical might." With a lung forward he pierced its right lung then left before jumping.
"Bam!" The Dranei mace smashed into the ground were Aziul just stood.
"Babump, babump," The heartbeat then stop. A few seconds later it beat again. The Dranei was still alive so to speak.
Azul stepped forward swinging to divert the blows. Clash after clash the fight continued. Azul couldn't match the Dranei in physical might. But that was not the plan anyway. As the creature started to slow down from the clashing, more of its blood fell to the ground. With a grunt, he took a knee in the dirt.
"Groan." Staring up its intelligence returned. "Ha..ha..ha. Thank you... for your help."
"Why are you here?" Azul questioned for a moment. His hand on his chin as he observed the magic at play. The Dranei was using his magic to push out the Fel energy. Each bit of Fel energy seeped into the ground disappearing into the drop Azul placed.
"I can not say. But I must.. complete my mission." The Dranei felt something weird was happening to his body. It was getting easier to expunge the fel magic. 'What is this outside magic that is helping me?'
"That wouldn't have anything to do with the spires here by chance?" Seeing his eyes narrow. Azul grinned. "Are you sure you cannot tell me?"
"Yes." The Dranei was quite adamant. Azul backed away before getting to far he turned and sliced off the Dranei head.
"A shame." Azul stared down at the corpse. "I gave you a chance. But I can get the information easier this way." Looking at the others finish their battle he reached his hands out.
(Would you like to build here?)
'Yes.' With that single thought, a guard tower formed. Beside the tower, a small hut appeared. Out walked a few elven rangers.
With a salute, they stood by waiting for orders.
"Defend the tower. Wait until I return for any new orders. Cant have you all dying going out cleaning the place up." Turning Azul looked at the other two. "Good work."
"Thanks.. huff.. huff. " Arion said.
"What now my lord?" Nocturne asked. "What about the body?"
"We will continue along the way here. Cutting down to the south. This will serve as the first forward area. Once we clear a good more of it out anyway." Looking down at the body Azul watched as it melted into the ground. As well as the other ones nearby. "The body will be fine. See."
(Dranei unlocked)
(Shaman unlocked)
(Quest added to Kingdom System. Currently no available units to take up arms.)
'Hmm, what quest is it?'
(Deactivating the Spire.
Quest: The Dranei have decided to set up a base camp within the Horde territory. Specifically in Sunstrider Isle. Knowing that the Bloodelves have several destroyed magical towers they have decided to reclaim one to keep tabs on the island. As well as keep the undead under watch.)
Seeing Azul in contemplation the other two remained quiet. Arion decided to walk into the guard tower. He came out once he saw how b.a.r.e it was. Only a small weapon rack and a c.h.e.s.t in the corner. Getting Nocturne he told her what he found. Walking in togethor the two popped up the c.h.e.s.t.
Nocturne came running back out with a strange necklace. "Umm... Azul what is this?"
"Huh, oh a magical necklace feel free to use it. It is from the inventory of one of the creatures or the Dranei. I don't really know."
"How did it get in the c.h.e.s.t though?" Arion asked intrigued.
"Huh, did I not explain it to you all already." Seeing their absent faces he decided it would be time to explain this little "magic function" to them. "Ok, so anything killed in our territory will be broken down turned into material for us to use if its scraps. Obviously full weapons and gear will get stored away for later use. But materials that someone was carrying that will get deposited. Most likely in the guard shack over there."
"That is some convenient magic," Nocturne said as she looked at the necklace. Feeling the power of a shaman come out if it, she went to place back inside.
"Yes, it is. Very old magic at that. Takes a lot to make it. Come on you two. We need to continue with cleaning this place up for I can make more towers. Oh, when we are done here we might head towards the Darkwither Spire." Seeing her come back out without the necklace on Azul was puzzled. "Why didn't you use it?"
"I am not a Shaman. It would be a waste."
"Nonsense. You could still use some of its power. Even though your magic is not attuned in that direction, a buff is still a buff."
"I understand but... I rather someone who could draw its full power use it." Nocturne then looked down and away.
"Ok... are you ok? You are way more timid and unsure of yourself compared to when we first met. Is it because of the separation from your sister?"
"Yes. She has courage and boldness. Among other things. She is the power, not me."
Walking up to her, Azul opens the front part of her blouse at the neck. He then pointed at the symbol there, "you see this mark. You are the one who made the agreement. Not her. You are the first. For now.. you can pity yourself and be unsure. But I won't tolerate it for long." Looking at her gaze back at him Azul brushed some magic over her. "You are better than that. I know you are. Remember I am connected to Ks. I know you can do a lot more."
(Speak with Nocturne in private to find out what is really wrong.)
Turning away Azul started to walk off deeper into the Dead Scar. The other two following suit slowly.
As they walked, he watched towards the ground. He smiled watching as it slowly returned to life a little. But it was only a few spots here and there. "It will take more for this to work. A lot more. I think we should carve out further North. Well up to the river anyway. With the East Sanctum towards the Eastside, we can figure out what to do about any hostiles."
"Sounds like a plan," Arion said. He was a little more confident after the first battle.
"Arion is my name." The young man said before relaxing. "So we are heading to the Dead Scar? Just the three of us. That is a lot of land to cover."
