Chapter 288
Chapter 280 IX Vegetarian Food

"Understanding the thoughts and opinions of sentient beings on the universe and life can be adapted to the opportunities of all beings, and the Dharma can be accepted by the masses with joy. What you said just now is actually a predestined relationship between us, Piwa, my Buddha How do you feel about the method of home?"

Li Junge was overwhelmed with admiration: "High! It's really high! The master's law is profound, I can hear it like a spring breeze!"

Uncle Wu Biao asked puzzledly: "I still understand half of what I hear, Master Guoshan, I haven't heard you say this much before?"

Li Junge said: "Master Guoshan just talked about the method of "watching the opportunity". As for you and me, hahaha, a meal of bean curd rice is also to promote Dharma and benefit life!"

Uncle Wu was even more confused. Li Junge laughed, but Master Guoshan nodded repeatedly with a smile. Those who know me are also Piwa!
At this moment, the fish bang sounded outside, and Master Guoshan stood up and said, "Don't be disgusted, everyone, just come and have a vegetarian meal with us."

Lead the crowd out of the meditation hall, and walk to the left along the Daxiong Hall, and you will see a colorful fish clasp hanging there.

The so-called fish bang is the flying fish with the head of a dragon and the body of a fish carved out of wood.

By the way, Master Guoshan talked about the exquisiteness of fish bangs. It turns out that the ten-square jungle has the fish head facing the mountain gate, while the Zisun Temple has the fish tail facing the mountain gate.

When you see Yubang, you know you have come to Wuguantang.

Wuguantang is also called Xiangji Kitchen, which is the canteen for monks on weekdays.

The reason why it is called Wuguan Hall is that when eating fast, the monks should not only be silent, but also concentrate their thoughts on the "Five Views": [-]. How much merit is counted, and where it comes from; offering; [-]. Preventing the heart from faults, greed, etc.; [-]. Good medicine for business, to treat dryness; [-]. To achieve Taoism, you should receive this food.

The translated meaning is that monks should think about it when they are fasting: the donor provides this bowl of fasting food, which is hard-won, have I practiced seriously today? These meals should be regarded as medicines to cure hunger and thirst. Taking "medicine" should not be greedy for good taste, as long as it can achieve the purpose of maintaining life and completing spiritual practice.

Therefore, Zhaitang is also called Wuguantang.

There are rules for fasting in Buddhism. There must be a summons order for the temple to eat, and there will be knocking on the fish clapper and cloud board hanging outside the Wuguan Hall.

The so-called cloud plate is a cloud-shaped iron plate cast with iron, which is used for convening.

The cloud boards used in Buddhism are mostly made of copper and iron, about three feet in diameter, and shaped like cloud patterns, so they are called cloud boards.

It is usually hung under the corridor of the Zhaitang, and it is tapped every time it is time to eat. It belongs to the board used to tell the time of eating and drinking, and is also called fire board and fire code.

The words "Nanwu Auspicious King Bodhisattva" are cast on the cloud plate.

Because Fawang Temple is located in the deep mountains, there are no big days such as Buddha's birthday. When there are devotees visiting, they usually have a meal here with the monks.

Outside the windows of the Zhaitang are lush green trees, and the environment is elegant. In the Zhaitang, the east-west direction is opposite in order, with rows of long and narrow tables and stools, and the tableware is neatly placed on the table.

After three bangs, they knocked on the cloud board in front of the Zhaitang, and all the monks arrived, and they were busy in their own way. In such a big temple, five people manage it, which is not considered farm work. Cleaning alone is enough. tired.

The melodious sound of the chime sounded, and the monk led the monks to recite the "Making Mantra" together, and also offered food to the hungry ghosts in the cold forest.

When giving food, the monks knocking bang and yunban should use a rice spoon to hold a few grains of rice, walk out of the fasting hall, and scatter it to the Hanlin platform on the left. Then silently recite: "Garudas, ghosts and gods in the wilderness, Rakshasa ghosts and mothers, all filled with nectar. Om, Mutishaha!"

Then you can start eating.

Except for Li Junge who was still looking around curiously, everyone else lowered their heads and looked down, waiting for the meal to start.

However, Li Junge knew the basic rules of fasting, especially the rule of quietness, that is, the rule of stopping words, which must be strictly observed.

The vegetarian meal is very simple, stewed radish slices in vegetable oil; chopped green vegetables and radish sprouts, salted, then squeezed out the water and stir-fried; the rest is bean curd rice.

For the bean curd rice eaten by the monks, the dipping ingredients are soy sauce and a little sesame oil; for Li Junge and others, in order to cater for the taste of believers, the seasoning of Fawang Temple is based on the basic configuration of Liuhe bean curd rice, with lettuce, oil, onion, ginger, garlic, glutinous rice cake and sea pepper. .

I don't know if it's because of eating too much fish and meat during the Spring Festival. Li Junge thinks this vegetarian meal is too appetizing.

The radish is very sweet, soft but slightly slippery, a little bit crunchy, the green vegetables are fragrant, and the bean curd is soft but tough, which makes Li Junge very addicted to eating.

There are rules for eating in the Zhaitang. After finishing the rice or vegetables in the bowl, when it needs to be added, push the rice or vegetable bowl to the front of the table, and the monk will come to add it; if there is no need to fill up, use chopsticks to indicate. Point to the desired position, and the monk will add it to that position for you.

Li Junge was addicted to eating, so he pushed it once, and the monk came over to add it, but he didn't feel satisfied after eating it, so he pushed it a second time.

When it was pushed to the ground three times, two-thirds of the people had finished eating. The monk stood up, clasped his hands together, rang the chime, and then everyone stood up.

What do you mean? This is not allowed to eat?For no reason, Li Junge had no choice but to put down his chopsticks and stand up.

Then everyone began to recite the "Jie Zhai Verse". After the recitation, two monks who hadn't finished eating sat down and continued to eat. Li Junge was relieved and sat down to eat happily.

Master Guoshan is not authentic, this means that I am not allowed to push it for the fourth time, Li Junge slandered silently, and he didn't think carefully that this is already the fourth bowl.

After the meal, Li Junge followed suit and went to the sink to wash the dishes and put them back where they were.

Toynbee, a British historian known as "the greatest historian in modern times," said: "Only Chinese Confucianism and Mahayana Buddhism can save the world."

Li Junge did not dare to agree with this statement as the absolute truth, but after talking with Master Guoshan today, he also felt that the teachings of Buddhism are quite desirable.

After putting away the dishes and chopsticks, a group of people waited for him under the fish basket under the eaves.

Li Junge wiped his mouth embarrassingly: "Hehe, the vegetarian food is so delicious, I accidentally ate a few extra bowls."

Master Guoshan said with a smile: "There is a story in Zen Buddhism. A man asked Zen Master Huihai: "Master Zen, what makes you different?" Huihai replied: "Yes." The man asked again: "What is it?" Huihai replied: "I eat when I'm hungry, and I sleep when I'm sleepy." The man asked again: "What's different about this? Everyone is like this. What's the difference?" Huihai replied: "The difference The reason is that when I eat, I just eat, and when I sleep, I just sleep. 'Hahaha, Piwa, I just saw you like that, compared to Zen Master Huihai!"

Ayin clapped her hands, laughing so hard that she couldn't straighten her waist: "Yeah! When Erpi just ate, he must have thought nothing of it, and ate right now!"

Li Junge patted his stomach and said: "Don't say it, after eating a lot of fish and meat during the Spring Festival, today's vegetarian meal really feels a bit like 'hearing your pipa today, it's like listening to fairy music'."

Everyone laughed, and Master Guoshan suggested that the bamboo forest behind Wangsi Temple is also a quiet place, and he planned to lead everyone to stroll around the bamboo forest.

The whole group was very excited, so they followed Master Guoshan to visit the back mountain.

Going up the stone steps, there are tall and strong bamboos all the way, and the greenery is dense, which is another scene.

Many new bamboo shoots have begun to break out of the ground secretly, testing whether spring is coming.

Master Guoshan took care of his grandma and walked slowly, telling everyone the allusions of Fawang Temple: "When it comes to why the Western Queen Mother is so fond of Fawang Temple, I have to talk about Fenghuangding, where Fawang Temple is located."

"At the junction of Jiachuan and Luna, there is Qiding Mountain."

"Extending from Qiding Mountain to four directions, there are five mountain ranges: Xianding, Puzhao, Yangti, Yunpan, and Longhang."

"Starting from Mount Qiding, with Longhang Mountain as the head, it winds for [-] miles to the northeast, passes through nine peaks, and forms a round and majestic peak at the northernmost end called Longkui Mountain."

"From Longkui Mountain, turn southeast and pass through nine peaks, and wind for more than 20 miles to reach Gongpolao in Shifo Township, forming the last peak. There is Longwei."

"The entire mountain range is just like a giant dragon born out of the sky. It is vast and vast, and the king is in Hongshui City, and it is dominating Xixiang."

"The strange thing is that on the Dragon Hanging Mountain, the seventh peak in the southeast is called Fenghuangding. It looks like a phoenix spreading its wings, soaring on the dragon's back, singing to the east to welcome the rising sun."

After finishing speaking, he stepped on his feet and said: "This is the place. The phoenix is above the dragon's spine, which naturally coincides with the Queen Mother's wishes. That's why there is a follow-up of giving a half-painted Luanjia to rebuild the Fawang Temple."

Li Junge laughed loudly after hearing this: "There is nothing wrong with this feng shui! I Jiachuan rakes so many ears, which is also a perfect side evidence!"

This made his father, uncle, and uncle, five cousins, call him nonsense, and felt that the Piwa was mocking him.

Li Junge rolled his eyes, and took his seat in such a hurry, why are you not guilty? !
Come to the gazebo on the top of the mountain, look down at the whole temple, look at the many majestic halls of Fawang Temple, as well as the quaint red walls and green tiles, the cornices, the corridors and the winding paths; A Yin said: "Entering the ancient temple early in the morning, the first sun shines on the high forest. The winding path leads to a secluded place, and the flowers and trees in the meditation room are deep. A Yin, is this the smell?"

Ayin also seemed to have deeply felt the primitive nature, silence and openness, and the harmony of all things in the monastery. He said, "The mountains are beautiful to the nature of the birds, and the shadows of the lake are empty to the hearts of the people. All sounds are silent, but the remaining bells and chimes sound. Two Pi, coming here, I feel that my whole heart is at peace."

Li Junge smiled and pointed to the mountain in the distance: "Light yellow, thin green, rainy in the morning, cloudy in the evening, vegetation and forests, rice and bamboo reeds, swimming fish and flying birds, mountains and rocks and dust, are there any sentient beings?"

Ayinheshi said piously: "I have."

It happened that the sunlight penetrated through the clouds and shone on Ayin's face, body, and hair, covering Ayin with a layer of holy golden light.

The whole group was silent, only heard Master Guoshan whispering the Buddha's name from behind: "My Buddha is merciful..."
