Chapter 33 You Want to Go to the Whole World

Chapter 33 You Want to Go to the Whole World

There is a family in Qingfeng Town who lives at the foot of a remote mountain.

There lived a very kind old lady, and the children called her Grandma Jane.

It was a midsummer in 2005, and a large group of people came to the town.

Grandma Jane was illiterate, but she heard the mayor say that this was a charity performance by celebrities from Hong Kong, who had come specifically to donate money to build a school for the children in the village who could not afford to go to school.

The mayor knew their family situation very well. It was not that they had no money to send their children to school. It was simply that the adults were blinded by greed and wanted to have a son to carry on the family business, so they were reluctant to send their daughter away to study.

It's a pity that an old lady has to bend over and make plans. How can the money she earns from selling paper shells be enough to support her education?

The mayor was also moved with compassion. It was obvious to all that the daughter of the Jian family in the south of the city was very sensible. He raised his hand and pointed to a person in the crowd far away, showing him a way out.

"See that guy? He's a wealthy man from Hong Kong. He's very generous. If we convince him, it won't be a problem to sponsor him to study."

Jian Yi didn't know how Grandma Jian had led such a large group of people to their home.

She only knew that the road was not well built that year and cars could not get in. It took two or three hours to walk to their shabby home. In the end, the only one who persisted was the young rich man.

Grandma Jane brewed the best tea in the house, but because it had been stored for many years, it had no flavor.

Jian Yi remembered that she was fourteen years old that year. She had stopped studying at home for half a year and was in a very depressed mood. She didn't want to see anyone or talk.

Being half-pushed and half-dragged out of the door by Grandma Jane, she swore that she had never seen such brilliance in her life.

The old wooden planks creaked as he walked, and a young man stood there with his sleeves rolled up while holding a book. The sun was shining brightly that day, like a shower of gilded foam, shining on the spirited face. The heavy clouds in the dull gray town were pushed away, revealing the bright and shining neon lights at the end of the sky.

Hearing the noise, he nodded slightly, then slowly squatted down, with a temperament like a piece of warm jade, and his words were extremely clear.

He asked Jian Yi: "Do you want to study?"

This was a very clever question. Jian Yi lowered her head and stared at her half-worn water-sleeved blouse, remaining silent for a moment.

Grandma Jane was anxious beside her: "Speak louder, don't be afraid."

Jian Yi still didn't dare to look up. All she could see was him wearing an ordinary grey short-sleeved shirt, his forearms supporting the railing strong and powerful. Because he was very tall, he smiled and leaned over to talk to her.

The moment he lowered his head, Jian Yi smelled the scent of an entire midsummer.

So she whispered, "I want to study, but my father said that our family is very poor and he wants me to be sensible and leave the money for my younger brother."

"You can read if you want." He raised his eyes and looked at her. Jian Yi didn't dare to look into his eyes, but she remembered his voice, which flowed like a spring, softening her angular stone.

That was the first time she heard someone say to her, you can have whatever you want.

Instead of being obedient, sensible and humble.

"I give you the right to choose your studies. As long as you want to study, whether it's junior high school, high school or college, I will always support you."

"Ah."

Jian Yi slowly raised her head and gradually saw his entire face in the dim light. He stood lazily, his eyes were deep yet childish, and his smile was gentle and lazy, with a naturally approachable temperament.

She was distracted by the smile in his eyes, bit her lip and looked at him with determination, "I will study hard and get into the best university to repay you."

The man smiled, his handsome and unruly face looked a little colder under the light and shadow, and waved his hand nonchalantly, "You don't need to repay me, I'm just an insignificant passer-by on your life path, and we may not see each other again in the future."

The sunlight burned the earth into red gold, adding beautiful colors to the barren land.

Jian Yi was still standing on the broken wooden board of the stilt house, looking at the narrow mountain road. As dusk approached, her gaze lingered on his broad and tall shoulders for a long time. She walked forward with big strides and broad hands, holding up the darkness and ushering in the light.

He said, “You have to go out into the world.”

At that time, Jian Yi had a very vague concept of the whole world. She only knew that there was a town called Qingfeng in Gusu. The small village was home to dozens of families. The villagers were all daughters like her who were raised in the countryside by their parents because of having more children than allowed.

She didn't bother to explore the whole world, but just ran back and forth in the village for three days, and finally found his name on a discarded check.

It turns out his name is Jin Yanchen.

-

Jian Yi had a fever after she returned. When she woke up, the view above her head had turned into the suspended ceiling of Dongjiao.

Her memory was vague for a moment, and the hospitable aunt, speaking not very standard Mandarin, brought over a bowl of scallion and ginger soup with swift movements.

"Miss Jian, are you awake? The soup is just ready. Drink a bowl of it hot quickly. Your fever will go down immediately after you sweat." After she said this, Jian Yi realized that her throat was as painful as if she was swallowing a knife blade.

Leaning against the head of the bed, she drank half a bowl of spicy soup without knowing what was going on. Her dry voice could barely utter a few syllables. As soon as she called out the word "Jin", she saw the man leaning against the door frame, smiling faintly at her.

For a moment, Jian Yi felt that his brain was burned.

She felt as if time had traveled back to five years ago and she saw the boy again.

Five years passed in the blink of an eye. His temperament was refined from a piece of jade shining like a cold star into a gentle and restrained jade. However, the gentleness that always flowed in his blood never changed.

"Her name is Aunt Ling. She used to take care of my mother. You were sick and I asked her to come and take care of you for a few days."

Jian Yi immediately put down the bowl and said embarrassedly, "Sorry to bother you, Aunt Ling."

Aunt Ling had a good temper and was very talkative. She opened the window to let out the sick air while chatting with her, "Miss Jian, you are too polite. I am paid and don't want to bother you. The family doctor rushed over that night, and I thought something terrible had happened."

Jian Yi lowered her head shyly and glanced at Jin Yanchen. She just caught a cold and had a fever, so it was not right for him to mobilize such a large force.

Just after drinking half a bowl, Aunt Ling quickly served a new bowl. She put down the bowl and left very tactfully. Only Jian Yi and Jin Yanchen were left in the room. Jian Yi thought for a while and stammered, "Why did I go back to the East Suburbs?"

"You fainted while crying, and the doctor found you had a fever. I thought it was too noisy there and it would affect your rest, so I brought you back."

Jin Yanchen supported himself on the headboard with his elbows, looked down and stretched out his hand. The action was too intimate. Jian Yi looked up at him in a daze, only to find that he just wanted to take the thermometer.

"The fever is finally gone."

Jin Yanchen glanced at the thermometer in his hand and stood up straight. His dark black T-shirt was stuck to his waist and abdomen due to water stains. His muscles were clearly visible and tense. His long and straight legs stood at the head of her bed, giving a sense of oppression.

"The doctor said that you have too much deficiency and too much dampness. You haven't recovered from the last fever, so you need to replenish your body." Jin Yanchen sat beside her bed, his starry eyes fell on her face, his tone a little helpless, "You are such a big girl, why don't you know how to take care of yourself?"

"The last time I had a fever was when I first saw you, right?"

Who would have thought that this reason could be brought up? Jian Yi lowered her head guiltily, but had to admit that she really enjoyed his caring yet slightly stern attitude as an elder.

She unconsciously became intimate, holding his hand and said, "Then am I causing you any trouble?"

"What kind of trouble is this?" Jin Yanchen glanced at her and brought the ginger soup to cool down. "Xiaoyi, don't always be so sensible."

"I don't think being sensible is a compliment. If you are too sensible, you will learn to lose, endure and suffer grievances. Don't be bound by these words."

Jian Yi glanced at him with understanding, and while thinking about these words, she dazedly swallowed the spoon that was handed to her mouth.

She frowned and said, "It's hot."

She has never liked eating ginger slices since she was a child, and the hot soup cooked with ginger is even more difficult to swallow.

Jin Yanchen chuckled and asked her, "Auntie Ling brought it to you just now, why did you drink it so obediently?"

"You're cheating here?"

After the teasing voice died down, Jian Yi angrily crawled into the soft duvet.

She put away all her praise for Jin Yanchen's gentleness. He was still so reckless and frivolous in his bones. He looked at her with a smile, as if all her blushing and heartbeats could not escape his eyes.

Jian Yi hid under the quilt and said in a muffled voice: "I am still a patient, you are not allowed to joke with me."

Jin Yanchen smiled, leaned over, and his fingers silently reached in from the corner of the quilt.

The first thing to tremble was her waist, and a small part of her pajamas was rolled up. Jin Yanchen kindly pulled it down for her.

Jian Yi's eyes were already sparkling. If she were to take her temperature again at this moment, her reading would definitely be shockingly high.

In the closed and dim quilt, he stretched out his slender and white fingers, like white jade bone whistles. His slightly protruding wrist bones brushed along her hot cheeks, then paused for a second and rubbed the top of her head.

Jin Yanchen laughed: "Can you tell me why you are so sad all of a sudden?"

Jian Yi was silent for a long time. It was very difficult for her to express her feelings to others. But because the person sitting in front of her, gently pulling back the corner of the quilt and letting fresh air flow into her nostrils was Jin Yanchen, she suddenly had a lot of things to say to him.

"I parted ways with a pretty good friend. We had a disagreement over money and sincerity." Jian Yi calmed down completely. He even shrugged and said half-jokingly, "Isn't the reason I'm crying childish?"

"It's a good thing to be able to cry." Jin Yanchen said, "Some things don't even qualify as sadness, and that's the saddest thing."

“So not everything in the world is perfect.”
