Chapter 16 Prajna (1)
This article tells the story of Ying Wei's request. Master Huineng taught everyone "Maha Prajna Paramita", which means "great wisdom". Luo Mi" is to reach the other shore, thus expounding the original meaning of Prajna wisdom.It further pointed out that "ordinary people are Buddhas, troubles are Bodhi", "before thinking about delusions is ordinary people, after thinking about enlightenment is Buddha", "before thinking about the state of mind is trouble, and after thinking about leaving the state is Bodhi". , the Buddha is all living beings, enlightened with one thought, all living beings are Buddhas, and all the Dharma is in one's own mind, one must immediately see the true nature in one's own mind.

The next day, Mr. Wei asked for benefits, and the teacher ascended to the seat, and told the public: "Purify your mind and recite Maha Prajna Paramita ②."Fu Yun: Good Advisor!The wisdom of bodhi prajna is inherent in the world, but it is only due to delusions and cannot realize it on its own.You should know that there is no difference in the Buddha nature between fools and wise people. It is only because of the difference in delusion and enlightenment that there are fools and wisdom.Now I am speaking the Dharma of Maha Prajna Paramita, so that all of you may gain wisdom. Listen attentively, and I will speak for you.

Good friends!People in the world recite prajna all day long, but they don't know the prajna of the self-nature, which is like saying that they don't have enough food.If you speak empty words, you will not be able to see your nature for ten thousand kalpas, and it will be of no benefit in the end.

Good friends!Maha Prajna Paramita is a Sanskrit word ④, which means great wisdom reaches the other shore.This must be done in the heart ⑤, not in the mouth.Words, thoughts, and minds do not work. They are like illusions, like transformations, like dew, and like electricity.When you speak with your mouth and act with your heart, your heart and mouth will respond.The original nature is the Buddha, and there is no other Buddha apart from the nature.What is Maha?Maha is big, with a vast mind, just like empty space, with no borders, no squares, no sizes, no blue, yellow, red and white, no ups and downs, no anger or joy, no right and wrong, no good or evil, no existence head and tail.All the buddha lands[-] are like empty space.The wonderful nature of the world is inherently empty, and there is no way to obtain it.The vacuum of self-nature ⑧ is also the same.

Good friends!When Mo Wenwu said emptiness, he meant emptiness.The first is not to be empty; if you sit quietly with an empty mind, you will be empty of memory ⑨.

Good friends!The void of the world can contain all forms and images, the sun, moon, stars, mountains, rivers and earth, springs and streams, vegetation and forests, evil people and good people, evil laws and good laws, heaven and hell, all seas, and the mountains of Sumeru ⑩, are always in the air.The nature of the world is empty, and it is the same.

Good friends!Self-energy contains all dharmas is great, and all dharmas are in all human natures.If you see all people's evil and good, neither take nor give up, and are not defiled, and your heart is like space, it is called great, so it is called Maha.

⑤ Mind behavior: the functions, activities, states, and changes in the mind, such as the likes and preferences of the mind, the objects of the mind, the scope of the action of the mind, the aspirations, wishes, tendencies, and determinations of the mind, etc., which arise from the mind Separate consciousness, delusions, calculations, etc.

⑥ Emptiness: Emptiness and emptiness are both another name for nothing.Emptiness has no form and quality, and emptiness has no obstacles, so it is called emptiness.In Buddhism, emptiness is often used as a metaphor for vastness and boundlessness, for the constant nature of no change and the meaning of non-obstruction, non-discrimination, and tolerance.

⑧Vacuum: The principle of true suchness, away from all illusions and appearances, and put an end to the relativeness of "existence" and "emptiness", so it is called vacuum.Because it is not false, it is called true; because it is separated from form, it is called empty.

⑨ Wuji emptiness: Do not remember other emptiness whether good or bad.

[-] Mount Sumeru: Refers to Mount Sumeru and its surrounding eight mountains.Mount Sumeru is translated as Miao Gao Mountain. This mountain is made of gold, silver, glass and crystal, so it is called Miao, and other mountains cannot be compared with it, so it is called high.It is also [-] yojanas high and [-] yojanas wide. It is the king of all mountains, so it is named Miao Gao.This mountain is the center of a small world, surrounded by eight mountains and eight seas. The eight outer mountains are Chishuang, Chisha, Yanmu, Shanjian, Horse's Ear, Elephant Trunk, Chibian, and Tiewei. Form a world called Sumeru World.

They must rely on the enlightenment and guidance of a very wise and good advisor to see themselves. We should know that there is no difference in Buddha nature between fools and wise people. It is only because of the different states of delusion and enlightenment that there is a difference between fools and wisdom. Today I will speak for you about Maha Prajna Paramita Fa, so that each of you can gain wisdom, listen carefully, and I will explain it to you.

"Good friends! People in the world chant Prajna all day long, looking for wisdom, but they don't realize the wisdom of Prajna in their own nature. This is like saying that all kinds of food can't make people full. Seeking Wisdom If you just talk about it, you will never be able to see your mind and see your nature even after thousands of kalpas. After all, it will not benefit the study of the Fa.

"Good friends! Maha Prajna Paramita is Sanskrit, which means great wisdom reaches the other shore. This must be realized in the heart, not spoken. If you say it but don't recognize it in your heart, everything will be like a dream bubble, like a fog. Like electricity, fleeting is all empty. Chanting in the mouth and recognizing in the heart, can the heart and the mouth be consistent and compatible with each other. The quiet nature of human beings is the Buddha, and there is no other possibility of becoming a Buddha apart from the self. What is Maha? He means big, the human heart is vast and infinite, just like empty space, without form, without obstacles, without boundaries, not square or round, without size, without blue, yellow, red and white colors, without up and down length, without anger and joy, without goodness Evil, right and wrong, have no beginning and end, etc. The realm of Buddha nature is equal to emptiness. The nature of human beings in the world is originally empty, containing all dharmas, and never abandoning all dharmas. The so-called self-nature is a vacuum and wonderful existence, which is also the reason .

"Good friends! Don't listen to me talking about emptiness, and then immediately become attached to the pursuit of emptiness. First of all, don't be attached to emptiness; if you just sit there without thinking about anything, although there is no distinction between good and evil, you will fall into the emptiness of emptiness. Note empty!

"Good friends! The world is empty, but it can contain everything and all kinds of phenomena: the sun, moon and stars, mountains, rivers and earth, springs and streams, vegetation and forests, evil people and good people, evil laws and good laws, heaven and hell, all the seas, Mount Sumeru and its surroundings The mountains are all contained in the void. The vacuum of self-nature of the world is also like this.

"Good Advisor! It is great to be able to contain all dharmas. All dharmas exist in one's own nature. If you see the good and evil of all people, you will not have the heart of choice and will not be contaminated. Without attachment, the heart is like the void, so it is called big, so it is called 'Maha'.

Good friends!The mind is vast, and it pervades the Dharma Realm②.It is clear when you use it, and you know everything when you use it.Everything is one, one is everything, come and go freely, mind and body without stagnation, that is Prajna.

Good friends!All prajna wisdom is born from the self-nature, and does not enter from the outside. It is called true self-use.Everything is true.Think about big things ③, don't do small things.Don't talk empty all day long, and don't practice this trip in your heart.Just like a mortal who claims to be a king, he will never get it, and he is not my disciple.

Good friends!What is Prajna?Prajna, Tang Yan wisdom also ④.In all places and at all times, always practice wisdom without being foolish in every thought, which is Prajna practice.One thought of ignorance is prajna, and one thought of wisdom is prajna.People in the world are delusional and do not see Prajna.Saying Prajna with the mouth is always foolish in the heart.I often say to myself that I practice prajna, and talk about emptiness, and I don't know the vacuum.Prajna has no form, but the wisdom mind is. If you understand it like this, it is called Prajna wisdom.

What is Paramita?This is the Western Mandarin, Tang Yan goes to the other side, and the meaning is separated from birth and death.The birth and death of the state of arrival ⑤, like water with waves, is called this shore; the departure of the state without birth and death, like water flowing constantly, is called the other shore, so it is called Paramita.

Good friends!It is charming to say, but when you say it, there are falsehoods and wrongs.Thinking like walking is called true nature ⑥.Those who understand this method are Prajna Dharma, and those who practice this practice are Prajna Practice.If you don't cultivate, you are ordinary. If you practice with one thought, you will be like a Buddha yourself.

Good friends!Ordinary people are Buddhas⑦, and afflictions are Bodhisattvas⑧.If you think about it before, you are an ordinary person, and after thinking about it, you are a Buddha.The former thinking of the state is affliction, and the latter thinking of leaving the state is Bodhi.

⑤ The birth and death of the situation: it refers to the "wrong" actions in behavior, language and thought caused by people's pursuit of all external phenomena, which in turn leads to the cycle of life and death.The environment refers to the objects perceived and recognized by the human sensory and thinking organs, and generally refers to all cognitive objects.

⑥Authenticity: The unchanging true nature is the mind and body of human beings.Buddhism maintains that the true nature of human beings is the same as that of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.Don't call it true, don't call it sex.

⑦Ordinary people: Abbreviated as ordinary people, referring to ordinary people, ordinary people who confuse things and change life and death.As far as the level of practice is concerned, those who have not seen the principles of the Four Noble Truths and who have shallow knowledge are called ordinary people.

⑧ Trouble: Confused again.Annoyance is disturbing meaning, and annoyance is disorderly meaning. Disturbing sentient beings is called affliction, which is a general term for mental effects such as annoyance, chaos, annoyance, confusion, and pollution in the body and mind of sentient beings.Generally, greed, anger, and ignorance are the roots of all troubles.

"Good advisors! People who are obsessed with obsession talk empty words all day long, and people who are enlightened and realize it with their hearts. There is also a kind of ignorant person who renounces thinking and sits in meditation without thinking about anything. He falsely claims that this is greatness. A kind of person cannot discuss the Dharma with him because he holds unrighteous attachments.

"Good Advisor! The original mind of the self-nature is vast and vast, containing all objects and constant things. Its function is to make everything clear and clear, and to use it to understand everything. Everything is in the original mind, and the original mind contains everything. To come and go freely without hindrance, this is the wisdom of prajna.

"Good friends! All prajna knowledge is born from the self-nature, not added from the outside. You must not understand the wrong intention and meaning, and you can call yourself the true self-nature. With this nature If it is true and not empty, then you can see that all dharmas are true and true. The great things of turning away from obsession and enlightenment cannot be obtained by sitting on these small paths with an empty mind. I am a king, but he will not be a king after all. This kind of person does not belong to my disciples.

"Good friends! What is prajna? Prajna means wisdom in Chinese. In every place, at all times, the mind is not obsessed with ignorance, but can always use wisdom to contemplate. This is the practice of prajna. Any thought turns into confusion. , the wisdom of prajna will be extinguished immediately, and a thought will be enlightened, and the wisdom of prajna will arise immediately. People in the world are foolish and ignorant, and they can't realize the wisdom of prajna. They talk about prajna, but they are always foolish in their hearts. They often call themselves I am practicing prajna, but I always talk about emptiness and cling to emptiness, and cannot see the vacuum. Wisdom has no form, and the heart of human wisdom is prajna. If you understand it in this way, it is prajna wisdom.

"What is Paramita? This is an Hindi language, and Chinese means to go to the other shore. Explaining it means leaving life and death. Attaching to all things and phenomena in the external environment will produce the mind of birth and death, just like water has waves. This situation is called this shore; if you are not attached to all things and phenomena in the external environment, there will be no birth and death, just as natural as unimpeded water, this is called the other shore, so it is called Paramita.

"Good friends! When ignorant and unenlightened people recite it, they will have delusions and the heart of right and wrong. If you can act with your heart all the time, it is called the true nature that is not wrong. The law you realize is Prajna Dharma, practicing this method is Prajna practice. If you don’t practice it, you are an ordinary person. If you practice it with one thought, you will be equal to the Buddha.

"Good Advisor! Ordinary people are Buddhas, and afflictions are Bodhi. There is no difference between the two. The first thought is obsessed with ignorance, then you are an ordinary person, and the second thought is turned from delusion to enlightenment, and you are now a Buddha. When you are away from the outside world, you are now a Buddha.

Good friends!My Dharma-door ⑤ produces eighty-four thousand wisdoms from common wisdom.Why?There are eighty-four thousand worldly labors for the world.If there is no dust and labor, wisdom will always appear, and it will not be separated from the self-nature.One who realizes this Dharma is no-thought ⑥.No memory, no attachment, no delusion, use the true nature⑦, contemplate with wisdom, do not take or give up all dharmas, that is, see the nature and become a Buddha.

Good friends!If you want to enter the deep Dharma Realm and Prajna Samadhi ⑧, you must practice Prajna Practice, recite the Vajra Prajna Sutra, and you will see your nature.

④Three poisons: Refers to the three afflictions of greed, anger, and ignorance.Greed is greed and love for the five desires, anger is anger and intolerance, and ignorance is ignorance and ignorance. All afflictions are commonly called poisons. However, these three afflictions are the most serious ones that poison sentient beings and good hearts, so they are specially called three poisons.It is the first of the fundamental troubles.Greed and poison lead to a heart of insatiability, hatred and poison arouse a heart of anger, and delusion and poison arouse a heart of confusion and darkness.

⑤ Dharma door: that is, Buddhism and teaching.What the Buddha said, and which serves as the standard of the world, is called the Dharma; this Dharma is not only the place where the saints enter the Tao, but also the place where the Tathagata saints travel, so it is called the door.

⑥Non-mind: It means no delusion, a different name for mindfulness, which means that the consciousness does not have the distinction of secular memories and thoughts, but conforms to the mind of truth.

⑦ Zhenru: The one who is true and never changes, so it is called Zhenru.True, true without false meaning.For example, the meaning of not changing its nature refers to the real noumenon that pervades the universe and is the root of all things.Also as Ruru, Truth, Dharma Realm, Dharma Nature, Reality, Reality, Tathagatagarbage, Dharmakaya, Buddha Nature, Self-Nature Pure Body, One Mind, and Unthinkable Realm.

⑧Prajna Samadhi: The right concentration of wisdom.

"Good Advisor! Maha Prajna Paramita is the most honorable, the most supreme, and the most important. It arises according to conditions and has no coming or going. The Buddhas of the past, present, and future, and the three generations, all come from here. You should use this great wisdom to break through and eliminate human afflictions. If you practice in this way, you will surely achieve Buddhahood and transform the three poisons of greed, anger, and ignorance into the three learnings of precepts, samadhi, and wisdom.
