Chapter 5 Diamond Sutra (4)
The Buddha told Subhuti: "If a good man or a good woman accepts and upholds four lines of verses in this sutra and teaches them to others, then this merit is better than the previous merit."

注释
①Ganga River: One of the five major rivers in India, also known as Ganga River, Ganga River, Suga River, etc., meaning "coming from heaven".Geographically, it is one of the great rivers in Asia. Its upper reaches are on the southern slopes of the Himalayas, where it gathers hundreds of rivers, passes through India and Bangladesh, and enters the Indian Ocean. The two sides of the river are densely populated, prosperous in economy, well-developed in transportation, and rich in products. Therefore, the Indian people have deep feelings for the Ganges River. So far the pilgrimage. When Sakyamuni Buddha came to the world, the banks of the Ganges River were important areas for the teaching activities of the Buddha and his disciples. The grains of sand in the Ganges River are so fine that its amount cannot be counted. In the scriptures, the term "sand of the Ganges River" is often used as a metaphor for describing incalculable numbers.

Translation
The Buddha said: "Subhuti, like the innumerable grains of sand in the Ganges, if every grain of sand in this river becomes a Ganges, what do you think? If all the dust and sand in the Ganges are added together, what do you think?" Do you think that’s a lot of sand?”

Subhuti replied, "Very many, World Honored One. The Ganges River is innumerable, let alone the amount of sand in all the rivers."

The Buddha said: "Subhuti, today I am truly proclaiming to you that if there are good men and good women who use the seven treasures that fill all the three thousand great thousand worlds mentioned above as many as the sands of the Ganges River to make alms, they will Are there many blessings and merits?” Subhuti replied, “Very much, World Honored One.”

The Buddha further told Subhuti: "If there are good men or good women who can accept and uphold this sutra, or even just accept and hold the four lines of verses in it, and explain it to others, the merit they will get is better than the previous ones. It is said that the seven treasures of the three thousand great thousand worlds, which are as many as the sands of the Ganges River, are the blessings of giving."

Original
"Furthermore, Subhuti, as you talk about the sutra and even the four-line verse, you should know that all the gods, humans, and asuras in this world should be offered as offerings to stupas and temples, not to mention that there are people who can accept, uphold, read and recite. Bodhi, you should know that this is the most supreme and rare dharma achieved by human beings. If it is where the scriptures are, then there is a Buddha. If you respect your disciples③."

注释
①World: transliterated as Lujia.Refers to all the phenomena of the three realms and the phenomena of action and leakage that are entangled by afflictions. And because "shi" has the meaning of moving, destroying, and overturning the truth, and "jian" means interval, so it is synonymous with the word "world", including the world of sentient beings and the world of things. The world of sentient beings is also called the world of sentient beings and the world of sentient beings. The device world, also called the device world, the device world, the device world, and the device, refers to the mountains, rivers, land, and land where all sentient beings live.Compared with the "worldly" which contains secular meaning, those who transcend the world are called Sushishi (beyond the world).Heaven, man, and Asura: collectively known as the "Three Good Ways".Heaven, transliterated as Deva, also known as Suluo, has the meanings of light, nature, purity, ease, and the best.It is synonymous with Tiantian, Tianyou, Tianqu, Tiandao, Tianjie, Tianshangjie, etc.It refers to the highest and most superior sentient beings among the six realms of confusion, or refers to the places where these heavenly beings live. The heavenly realm can be divided into the desire realm, the form realm, and the formless realm. In the six days of the Desire Realm, all have the desire to eat and drink men and women; in the eighteen days of the Form Realm, they often practice meditation and have no desire for men and women, but still have the body; in the four days of the Formless Realm, the meditation skills are deeper, and the body is gone.People, the survivors in the world, the sentient beings belonging to the world of desire, the ones who think the most, have cultivated the cause of goodness in the past, so in this world, they are the fruit of inspiring humanity.Asura, also known as Asura, Ashura, Asura, Asura, etc.It is one of the six realms, one of the eight divisions of Tianlong and one of the ten realms. The meaning is "not correct", saying that the male appearance is ugly, but the female appearance is correct. It is also translated as "non-heaven", indicating that its retribution is better than that of the sky but without the virtue of the sky.Asura was originally one of the gods of ancient India. He belonged to the category of fighting ghosts and gods. He was often regarded as an evil god, and he fought endlessly with Emperor Shitian.Buddhism continues to use its legends and says that it has converted to Buddhism.

②Support: the meaning of providing financial support, and also making offerings, offerings, supplying, making offerings, etc. That is to provide food, clothing and other things to the Buddha, Dharma, monks, parents, teachers, and the dead. There are various classifications including the types of offerings, offering methods, and offering objects. The offerings received by the early religious groups were mainly clothing, food, bedding, soup and medicine, which were called the four offerings. The five kinds of offerings include incense (keeping precepts), flower garlands (giving), burning incense (hard work), eating and drinking (meditation), lighting lamps (wisdom), and adding Yanjia (purifying water [forbearance]), that is, six kinds of offerings .Flowers, incense, necklaces, powdered incense, painted incense, burnt incense, silk covers, banners, clothes, and music are collectively called the ten kinds of offerings.Pagoda: also known as Tapo, Tupo, Stealing Po, Futu, etc.Originally refers to the covered bowl-shaped buildings made of wood and bricks to house the Buddha's relics, etc., but later generations are confused with "Zhiti", and generally refer to the Buddha's birth, enlightenment, turning the wheel of Dharma, and parinirvana, etc. The place is built with piles of earth, stone, brick, wood, etc., as a building for worship. In fact, there is a difference between the two. Those who have Buddha relics are called pagodas; those without Buddha relics are called Zhiti.Temple: The temple in the Buddhist scriptures is different from the temple in the traditional Chinese sense, but is equivalent to the "stupa" in Sanskrit, that is, the tower.

③Disciple: Free translation of what is taught, that is, those who are taught by the teacher. The voices and hearers when the Buddha was alive, and even the monks, nuns, upasakas, upasakas, etc. after the Buddha passed away, are all called disciples of the Buddha. As far as the Buddha is concerned, although the shravakas and bodhisattvas are all disciples, they are especially called disciples because the appearance of the shravakas is the closest to the Buddha. Here it refers to the great disciples of the Buddha who are respected by heaven, man, and Asura, such as Shariputra, Moggallana, Ananda, etc.

Translation
The Buddha went on to say: "Again, Subhuti, if you are able to proclaim this sutra to others, even just explaining the four verses in the sutra, then you should know where this sutra is taught, and all the gods and humans in the world , Asura, should come to protect and respectfully make offerings, just like making offerings to stupas and temples, let alone someone who can fully believe in, practice, and recite this sutra. Subhuti, you should know that this person has achieved the most supreme and rarest Unsurpassed Bodhi. Wherever this scripture is, there will be a Buddha, and there will be disciples who respect the Buddha.”

Original
At that time, Subhuti said to the Buddha: "World Honored One, what should this sutra be called? How can we uphold it?"

The Buddha told Subhuti: "This sutra is called "Vajra Prajna Paramita". With this name, you should uphold it. So what? Subhuti, the Buddha said Prajna Paramita, that is, it is not Prajna Paramita, it is called Prajna Paramita. Prajna Paramita. Subhuti, what do you think? Does the Tathagata teach something?"

Subhuti said to the Buddha: "World Honored One, the Tathagata has nothing to say."

"Subhuti, what do you think? Are there so many dust particles in the three thousand great thousand worlds?"

Subhuti said, "Many, World Honored One."

"Subhuti, the Tathagata says that the dust is not a dust, and it is called a dust. The Tathagata says that the world is not the world, and it is called the world. Subhuti, what do you think? Can we see the Tathagata?"

"No, World Honored One. You can't see the Tathagata with 32 features. Why? The Tathagata said that 32 features are right and wrong, and they are called 32 features."

"Subhuti, if there are virtuous men or virtuous women who donate their bodies and lives with the sands of the Ganges River, and if there are people who even receive and uphold the four-line verse in this sutra and explain it to others, they will be greatly blessed."

注释
① Dust: the smallest thing that can be seen by eye consciousness. In Buddhism, extremely micro refers to the smallest unit of material existence.Taking one extremely small particle as the center, combining seven extremely small particles makes one fine dust, combining seven fine particles makes one gold dust, and combining seven golden dusts makes one water dust. Also, although the amount of dust is small, there are many of them. Therefore, in the classics, "dust" is often used as a metaphor for an extremely small amount, and "the number of dust" is used to describe an extremely large number.

② 32 phases: These are the 32 special appearances and subtle forms possessed by the holy king of the wheel and the incarnation of the Buddha. Also make 32 adult appearances, 32 male husband appearances, 32 great scholar appearances, and 32 adult appearances. It is abbreviated as Darenxiang, Sibaxiang, Dashixiang, and Dahusband. These 32 phases are not limited to Buddha. Those who have this aspect will be the wheel-turning holy king at home, and they will surely attain supreme Bodhi when they leave home. Here it refers to the Tathagata's 32 distinctive features and extraordinary appearance.According to the fourth volume of "Great Wisdom", the 32 phases are: (32) the phase of peace and standing under the foot, ([-]) the phase of the second wheel under the foot, ([-]) the phase of the long finger, ([-]) the phase of the heel and the wide flat, ([-]) the phase of the siblings Refers to the appearance of the unadorned net, ([-]) soft hands and feet, ([-]) tall and full feet, ([-]) deer-like appearance, ([-]) hanging hands over knees, ([-]) yin and Tibetan appearance, ([-]) body Wide and long phases, ([-]) hair facing upward, ([-]) one hole and one hair, ([-]) golden phase, ([-]) great light phase, ([-]) thin skin phase, ([-]) [-]) The appearance of the seven places is full, ([-]) the appearance of the two underarms, ([-]) the appearance of the upper body like a lion, ([-]) the appearance of a straight body, ([-]) the appearance of round shoulders, ([-]) the appearance of four Ten tooth appearance, ([-]) teeth alignment, ([-]) teeth white appearance, ([-]) lion cheek appearance, ([-]) taste with good taste, ([-]) wide and long tongue appearance, ([-]) Sanskrit voice, ([-]) true blue eyes, ([-]) ox eye eyelashes, ([-]) topknot, ([-]) hairline between eyebrows. The above [-] phases, doing a hundred good deeds is a wonderful phase, so it is called "Hundred Blessings and Adornment".

Translation
At this time, Subhuti asked the Buddha for instructions: "World Honored One, what should we call this sutra? How should we accept and practice this sutra?"

The Buddha told Subhuti: "This sutra is called the "Vajra Prajna Paramita Sutra". You should uphold it under this name. Why? Subhuti, because the Prajna Paramita that the Buddha said is not true. There is some Prajna Paramita, and it is called Prajna Paramita in terms of name and appearance. Subhuti, what do you think? Has the Tathagata taught any Dharma?"

Subhuti replied, "World Honored One, the Tathagata has not taught any Dharma."

The Buddha asked again: "Subhuti, what do you think? Do you think all the dust particles in the three thousand great thousand worlds are too many?"

Subhuti replied, "Very many, World Honored One."

The Buddha said: "Subhuti, all dust is not a dust, so the Tathagata said that the world is a non-world, not a real world, but a world in a false name. Subhuti, what do you think? Is it possible to know the real Tathagata through the 32 special appearances of the Tathagata's physical body?"

Subhuti replied: "No, World Honored One. You can't see the true face of the Tathagata through the 32 special appearances of the Tathagata's physical body. Why? The 32 appearances mentioned by the Tathagata are not 32 real forms, but just a false name for the combination of causes and conditions. 32 phases."

The Buddha said: "Subhuti, if there are good men and good women who donate as many bodies and lives as the sands of the Ganges River, and if there are any people who can believe, accept and uphold this sutra, even just four lines of verses in the sutra, And spread it to others, the blessings and merits he will get will be even more.”

Original
At that time, Subhuti heard and said this sutra, deeply understood its meaning, wept and wept, and said to the Buddha: "Unfortunately, World Honored One. The Buddha said such a profound sutra. I have acquired the wisdom eye from the past, and I have never heard such a sutra. World Honored One. If there is someone who hears the scriptures and has a pure faith ②, then he will have the reality ③. You should know that this person has achieved the first rare merit. World Honored One, those who are the reality are right and wrong, so the Tathagata speaks of the name of the truth. World Honored One, I Today, it is not difficult to hear such scriptures, believe, understand, accept and uphold them. If there are sentient beings who can hear this scriptures, believe, understand, accept and uphold them in the next life after five hundred years, they will be the first rare ones. Why? This person has no self The appearance, the appearance of no one, the appearance of no sentient beings, and the appearance of no life. So what? The appearance of me is the appearance of right and wrong, the appearance of people, the appearance of sentient beings, and the appearance of life are right and wrong. Why? Separated from all appearances, they are called Buddhas."

The Buddha told Subhuti: "It is so, so it is. If there are people who hear this scripture and are not frightened or afraid, you should know that such people are very rare. Why? Subhuti, the Tathagata said that the first paramita is not the first. Paramita ⑤ is the first Paramita.

"Subhuti, the paramita of patience and humiliation⑥, the Tathagata said that it is not the paramita of patience and humiliation, it is called the paramita of patience and humiliation. Why? Subhuti, as I used to cut my body for King Kali⑦, I have no self-identity at that time , No one, no sentient beings, no longevity. Why? When I was dismembered step by step in the past, if there were ego, human beings, sentient beings, and longevity, I would feel hatred ⑧.

"Subhuti, think again that in the past five hundred lives, you have been a sage of patience and humiliation. In your world, there is no notion of self, no notion of human beings, no notion of sentient beings, and no notion of lifeless beings. Therefore, Subhuti, Bodhisattvas should leave all appearances and send out anus. Dorasamyaksambodhicitta. You should not live in form to give birth to your mind, you should not live in sound, smell, taste, touch, and dharma to give birth to your mind, you should give birth to a mind without abiding. If the heart has abiding, it is not abiding. Therefore, The Buddha said that bodhisattvas should not live in form and give. Subhuti, bodhisattvas should give in this way for the benefit of all sentient beings. The Tathagata said that all appearances are right and wrong, and all sentient beings are not sentient beings.

"Subhuti, the Tathagata is one who speaks the truth, one who speaks the truth, one who speaks the truth, one who does not lie, and one who does not speak differently. Subhuti, the Dharma obtained by the Tathagata is neither real nor empty. Subhuti, if a bodhisattva's heart dwells in the Dharma When doing charity, it is like a person entering darkness and seeing nothing. If a Bodhisattva does not stop at Dharma while doing charity, it is like a person has eyes, the sun shines brightly, and sees all kinds of colors.

"Subhuti, in the future, if there are good men and good women who can receive, recite, recite, and recite this sutra, then the Tathagata will know and see the person with the wisdom of the Buddha, and all of them will achieve immeasurable and boundless merit."

注释
①Huiyan: Refers to the eye of wisdom. It is the eye attained by people of the two vehicles of sravaka and karma. It is one of the three eyes and one of the five eyes.Hui Neng is able to contemplate, so it is called the eye.Knowing the wisdom of equality and emptiness of all dharmas, it is called wisdom eye.Because the wisdom eye can see the truth of all dharmas, it can save sentient beings to the other shore.

②Confidence: Believe in what you hear and understand without doubting your heart, that is, a pure heart that is far from doubting. It is the pure heart that is manifested from the theory of drama, and it is the proof of knowing the truth, that is, the purity increases the meaning and happiness or the faith is not bad.Confidence is the beginning of entering the Tao, so it is placed at the top of the five roots of "faith, progress, mindfulness, concentration, and wisdom".

③ Reality: The original meaning is noumenon, substance, truth, nature, etc.; it refers to the real and true appearance of all dharmas, or the real principle, the unchanging principle, truth, and dharma.Reality means that it is true and not false; phase refers to the nature or appearance of things. All things in the universe are made up of causes (conditions), changeable, and have no eternal, fixed self. All phenomena recognized by secular concepts are false, which includes the meaning of "emptiness".This kind of emptiness is the "truth" of the universe, that is, the reality of all dharmas. The reality of all dharmas is the nature of all things, so it is also called "dharma nature". This dharma nature is true and permanent, so it is also called Zhenru. In addition, there are various other names such as truth, middle way, nirvana, reality, reality, dharmakaya, dharmadhatu, Buddha nature, Tathagatagarbha, and prajna. It is generally believed that the appearance of this reality cannot be guessed by words or mind.

④ Belief and understanding: Believe it at the beginning after hearing the Buddha's teachings, and then understand it, which is called belief and understanding. It also refers to the rank of practice and is one of the seven saints. Those with blunt faculties can believe it when they see this sutra, and those with strong faculties can understand it after reading this sutra. And believers can destroy wrong views, and those who understand can destroy ignorance.

⑤The first paramita: from this side of the world of life and death to the other side of Nirvana and liberation. "Poromi" is also known as Paramita and Paramita. The free translation is to go to the other shore, to save the infinite, to save, to go to the end.Generally speaking, there are six paramitas, ten paramitas, and four paramitas.Among them, the six paramitas are the sayings of the Prajna Sutras. The most outstanding of the six paramitas is Prajna Paramita, so it is called "the first paramita".Prajna Paramita is translated as wisdom to the other side, wisdom, brightness, and universal wisdom. That is to use wisdom to see the reality of the world, and to pass through life and death from this shore to the other shore of Nirvana, so it is called Paramita.Prajna Paramita is the root of the six paramitas and the source of all good dharmas, so it is also called the mother of all Buddhas. The other five degrees (giving, keeping precepts, patience, diligence, and meditation) must be preceded by Prajna, otherwise it will be like walking blindly.
