Chapter 19 "Unparalleled Love" ([-])

It has been almost a month since I moved to this small town. The reason why I choose to live here is because of the peaceful environment here.

My name is Xin Yu, and I am a writer of mystery novels. I usually publish some mystery novels in magazines, and occasionally publish a book or two.I can write during the day, but I prefer to write in the quiet of the night because it inspires me more.

There is only one main street in the town, just like the trunk of a big tree, along which many branches-alleys extend.A long and narrow alley zigzags to the depths, and the houses that make up these alleys are the town residents.My home is at the end of one of the branches—deep in an alley at the innermost end of the long street.

It was raining heavily outside the window, and the night in the country was much darker than in the city. Behind the window was a dense forest that spread all the way to the mountains behind the town.

Just when I was thinking wildly, that person had already come to my window and slapped the window at me.Only then did I see his face clearly. It was the face of a young man. The hair on his forehead had been soaked by the rain, and his whole body was wrapped in a raincoat.

Because of the window and the sound of the rain, I couldn't hear what he was saying.On such a stormy night, my home is in the most remote place in the town, and there is a strange man outside the window that I have never seen before.All this told me to be more careful, but seeing the anxious look and sincere eyes of the other party, I opened the window without hesitation.

"Quick...quick...my girlfriend was injured and trapped in the forest..." Seeing me, the man yelled at me as if he was grabbing a life-saving straw.

I pulled the man through the window into the house, and brought him a chair to sit on.

Seeing him panting while sitting on the chair, I handed him a glass of water, and he drank it in one gulp. I was about to take the glass and pour him another glass, but he stopped me.

"No need, I have something more important..." The man stood up and asked me, "Do you have a hospital here?"

"Hospital? No..." I replied without thinking, "The nearest hospital is only [-] kilometers away in the city. However, there is a clinic here."

"Clinic? ... also, can you take me there?"

Looking at the torrential rain outside, I hesitated, but still nodded, "Okay, wait for me, I'll go find a raincoat."

On the way to the clinic, the strange man gave me a brief introduction of himself and how he got lost.

I also briefly introduced myself to him, and he was obviously surprised to hear that I was a mystery writer.During the conversation, we unknowingly came to the door of the only clinic in the town.
