Chapter 13 Sullivan and Choksar

Chapter 13 Sullivan and Choksar

Once upon a time, there lived two childhood sweethearts in a village, the boy named Sullivan and the girl named Choksa. They were both handsome and smart, and everyone loved them. But their parents had little friendship with each other. The two families had had some quarrels a long time ago, and they couldn't even remember what the reason for the quarrel was, but they still habitually quarreled with each other.Sullivan and Choksar, on the other hand, were unhappy when they were apart for a while.Day after day they tended the sheep together, and spent most of the day playing together, or resting on some shady bank.

One day a fairy in the nearby swamp saw them and was attracted by their handsome looks and polite manners, so she began to protect them secretly. As they grew up, the Fairy loved them more and more.At first the fairies would put things they both liked in the places they frequented, because Sullivan and Choxa were very friendly, and they always thought of each other first, for example, Sullivan would always think: "What would Choxa like?" What?" And Choksa was always thinking, "What would Sullivan like?" So almost every day the Fairy prepared them some cakes and sweets, and watched them enjoy these gifts in secret. As they grew into adults, the Fairy felt it was time to let them know herself.

So one day at noon, when Sullivan and Choksa were hiding in the sun under the hedges full of flowers, the fairy suddenly appeared in front of them. When the tall and slender fairy in a green dress and a wreath on her head appeared suddenly, the two children were startled. The fairy said kindly to them that she was the one who often gave them good things and surprised them.Sullivan and Choksa thanked her gratefully, and then happily answered the questions the Fairy asked them. When they were separated, the fairy told them not to mention themselves to anyone.

"You'll see me again soon," she said, "and I'll be with you often, though sometimes you won't see me." And with that, she disappeared.Sullivan and Choksar were surprised and delighted.Later, the fairy came to visit them often, taught them, and showed them her beautiful land and many rare treasures. One day the Fairy said to them:

"You know I've been good to you, and I think it's time for you to do something in return. Remember my favorite fountain? Promise me that every day before sunrise, every Clean up a stone that hinders the flow of water and branches and leaves that may stain the spring. If you can clean up the fountain every day without forgetting or delaying, it will be enough to prove your gratitude to me. If every morning The first rays of sunshine into my marshes, the cleanest and freshest of my favorite springs, I will never part you two."

Sullivan and Choksa jumped at the task. They feel that cleaning the fountain is a trivial matter compared with what the fairies have given them and promised them. For a long time thereafter they tended the Fairy's Fountain so carefully that it became the cleanest and most beautiful spring in the region.

On a spring morning, long before sunrise, Sullivan and Choksa hurried into the dense forest in opposite directions. At that time, it was the flowering season, and countless flowers were in full bloom in the forest. So they put down their work and plan to pick some flowers for each other. As he walked, Choksa said to himself, "I want to make a garland for Sullivan." Sullivan also thought, "How beautiful Choksa would be if she wore such a garland!"

They stop and go, stop and go, and always feel that more beautiful flowers are still ahead. Before they knew it, they both lost their way and got farther and farther away from the fountain. It wasn't until the first ray of sunlight shone on them that they suddenly discovered something bad.So Sullivan and Choxxar each turned and ran toward the fountain, getting there almost at the same time—only from opposite directions. But immediately they were horrified to find that the usually calm trickling water was churning violently, bubbling as if boiling. They were about to take a closer look, when suddenly a raging torrent gushed out of the spring, and quickly engulfed the fountain. After a while, Sullivan and Choksar found that they had been separated by a wide and swift river. All this happened so suddenly that Sullivan and Choksa were crying and were separated on both sides of the river just in time to grab the flowers the other had picked, but it was enough for them to understand why this happened up.

Sullivan jumped into the water desperately, hoping to swim to the other side. He tried more than 20 times, but was washed back to the shore by the irresistible rapids every time.At the same time, Choksa even tried to float to the other side with a tree trunk uprooted by the flood, but it also failed.Their hearts were extremely heavy, so they had to follow the direction of the water, but the river became wider and wider, and it was difficult for them to see each other. From then on, they trekked mountains and rivers, walked day and night, not afraid of cold and heat and all difficulties and obstacles, only hoping to see each other again.Time flies, the sun and the moon fly, and three years have passed, and they stopped on the cliffs on both sides of the river, where the river flows into the sea.

This time they look further apart than ever. They jumped again in despair into the foaming waves. But this time, the fairy who had been watching them secretly couldn't bear to let them drown, so she waved her hand hastily, and in an instant, Sullivan and Choksa found that they were standing side by side on a golden beach. You can imagine how happy and content they were when they found their miserable fate over and held each other's hands tightly!

They both had thousands of words to say in their hearts, but they were so excited that they didn't know where to start. They all blamed themselves bitterly, and should not have been negligent for a while, which led to bitter fruit. After hearing this, the fairy immediately appeared in front of them. They knelt before the fairy and begged her forgiveness. The Fairy kindly forgave them, and promised that their punishment was over, and that henceforth she would always be kind to them. Then she conjured a chariot drawn by six quokka moles, made of green water, and adorned with drops of May dew she had collected with special care. She ordered the Mole to pull the wagon, and it didn't take long for the wagon to take them to the ranch where Sullivan and Choxxa had lived as children. After a three-year ordeal journey, Sullivan and Choksar reunited with their families. In order to make Sullivan and Choksa happy, the Fairy had managed to settle the quarrel between their two parents during their absence, and won their consent to marry the faithful lovers.

Then the Fairy took them to the most beautiful little cottage you can imagine. The cottage stood by the Fairy's Fountain, which was now restored to its former glory, and trickled into a little river that ran through the garden, orchard, and pasture. These are for Sullivan and Choksar and their cattle and sheep.Everything is in order.Sullivan and Choksar were delighted.Their excited appearance made the fairy very satisfied. They watched and praised until they got tired, and they sat down together on the rose-covered porch to rest. Then the Fairy said that, to pass the time before her wedding-guests arrived, she intended to tell them a story, which was the following story--The Prince Narcissus and the Princess Rosa.
