As The Wind Blows Your Scent To Me
Chapter 304 - It's Not Like You To Lie Weakly Like This
The long wait outside the emergency treatment room made Yuina restless. She kept chanting that Ryuu would be alright as a means to keep her mind sane. Both of her hands clasped together, tightly held over her chest.
"I shouldn't go away..."
Yuina was blaming herself for not being there when the incident happened. Although she couldn't do anything to stop it, she still felt guilty just for being absent.
"Ryuu... Please be safe..."
Yuina closed and opened her eyes a few times, willing for her husband to come out of the treatment room.
Kiyoshi had been wheeled to the ward. The boy didn't suffer internal injuries. He only got a few superficial wounds but, the doctor reminded them to be wary with the state of his mind.
It wasn't unprecedented for a small child to receive a tremendous shock after such a fall.
His parents were already informed of the incident. They were on their way to this remote town.
Riku was nowhere to be seen. She was busy giving and listening to instructions to make sure the incident wasn't leaked to the media. The other staff who came to the hospital also were busy with their own things.
Because the privacy of this small town hospital couldn't be compared to the ones in big cities, both the artist management and the film crew had to be extra careful.
Riku left the task of waiting for Ryuu to Yuina. She had to represent the company to discuss the next step of action with Director Aoyama.
Both leads of the film were hospitalized. Whether anyone liked it or not, the filming that centered around Ryuu and Kiyoshi had to be postponed.
"...!"
Yuina shook the moment the lights outside the room dimmed. She hurried to the doors, anticipating her husband to come out soon. A doctor came out first, pulling down his mask to under his chin.
"Doctor, how's my hus... how's Mr. Ishizaki?"
Yuina almost blurted out the word that she wasn't supposed to say.
The doctor smiled at her despite looking tired, "The patient is in a stable condition. But, we have to monitor his progress first because he knocked his head hard when he fall. Besides the concussion, he also sprained his right arm and back."
When Ryuu caught Kiyoshi, they did land on the soft ground yet, the crash was still huge.
Th place Kiyoshi fall was away from the landing pad that the prop team prepared thus resulting in the impact.
"Thank you, doctor. Really, thank you."
Yuina kept bowing to the doctor, her hands were still trembling. A part of her heavy heart softened because of the doctor's reassurance.
Soon, Ryuu was brought to one of the private wards of the hospital. He was still unconscious. Due to the request of Director Aoyama who personally contacted the higher-ups of the hospital, the staff handled the two actors well and kept their existences here a secret.
Yuina contacted Riku first, saying that Ryuu's condition was good. The assistant sighed in relief before Riku asked Yuina to keep an eye on the still unconscious Ryuu.
Inside the small private ward, Yuina hesitantly approached the bed where Ryuu was lying. A gauze wrapped around his forehead so did his upper right arm. The up and down of his chest was weak.
"Thankfully... you're alright."
Yuina choked on her sobs. She wanted to hold Ryuu's hands but she was afraid the slightest force would put more strain on him.
In the end, she could only sit on the chair beside the bed and watch him quietly. Droplets of tears kept rolling down her cheeks, wetting her face.
Yuina had forgotten the last time she saw Ryuu so frail like this. Even the bruises and injuries he often got due to working hard labor during high school weren't as bad as what he suffered right now.
"Have he ever hid such incidents from me?"
A thought invaded her messy mind as Yuina guessed the possibility.
Brows almost merged together, Yuina bit her lip hard.
There were times when Ryuu didn't contact her for a long time when filming. Even though those were rare, Yuina couldn't help but think either her husband was too busy or the line was bad or he actually got injured during filming.
"Turns out... there is still so much I don't know about you..."
She knew the sunny boy who brought her out of the hell-hole yet, did she really know him who carried the crown of the film emperor?
"No, let's stop thinking about this..."
What she was thinking wasn't important in a time like this.
Yuina didn't lament her sorrow for too long.
After she cried enough, she patted her cheeks a few times, went to wash her damp face then put on a firm look.
This was not the time to cry as if her world was ending. Her husband was lying weak on the bed, needed her to take care of him.
Yuina worriedly looked at Ryuu's pale face and his cracked lips. She wet a cotton bud and brushed it on his lips.
"You have to wake up soon, hubby," Yuina whispered, "It's not like you to lie weakly like this."
Although Yuina said that, she was already satisfied by the fact that Ryuu's condition wasn't a grave one. While she sat next to the bed, she scrolled the entertainment news.
There was no mention of the film emperor was hospitalized after getting injured during filming. It seemed like the news was still tightly sealed.
Knock! Knock!
Yuina glanced behind her shoulders. The sliding door was opened from the outside, showing Riku's face. She was holding to her phone, looking like she had just ended a call.
"How's Brother Ryuu?" asked Riku as she approached the bed. She kept her voice low.
"Still unconscious," replied Yuina faintly.
Both of them stared at Ryuu's wan countenance.
Everything happened too unexpectedly. Yuina had to admit that the shock she got at the filming set earlier had yet to disperse properly.
"Did the director say anything else? How about the company?" inquired Yuina, sounding anxious.
"Director Aoyama has investigated the cause of the incident," Riku began telling Yuina what she had gathered until now, "One of the newly-hired staff of the prop team didn't check thoroughly the rope that Kiyoshi used. So far, it's safe to say that there's no ulterior motive behind this."
Kiyoshi was simply unlucky so did Ryuu. The latter just acted on instinct the moment he saw the child falling down due to the broken rope.
If not for Ryuu's quick reflex, all of them didn't dare to think about what would happen to Kiyoshi.
"Then... about the company, the PR team keeps an eye on the news," continued Riku as she saw how intently Yuina was listening to her, "Although there's no hint that anyone hears about the incident, it's still better to be careful."
"It's good that... it's still a secret," Yuina agreed with Riku's words.
If any of the journalists caught wind of the incident that fell the renowned film emperor until he had to be hospitalized, Yuina couldn't imagine the chaos that would follow. She shuddered at such thoughts.
They would resemble a pack of wolves hounding for more info. It was a highly likely possibility that the journalists might camp around the hospital or worse, sneaked inside the hospital to find the exact ward where Ryuu was in.
Both Ryuu and Kiyoshi needed as much rest and peace they should get if they wanted to heal as soon as possible.
"Sister Yuina, please stay by Brother Ryuu's side. I have to go out and finish some task," said Riku after staying inside the ward for half an hour. Waving the phone in her hand, she explained, "Even though Kiyoshi is not under our company's management, the boss instructed me to take care of him too."
Of course, including reminding Kiyoshi's parents to seal their mouths about the incident.
Riku quickly disappeared to the ward down the hallway. Yuina closed the door after peering around her carefully.
The hallway was so quiet it gave her a sense of discomfort.
Yuina heaved a sigh, fingers crumpling the hem of her T-shirt.
"Excuse me."
A female voice suddenly sounded followed by the sound of the doors opening.
Flinching, Yuina abruptly turned around to face the owner of the voice. It was a nurse.
The nurse was quite young, looking almost the same age as Yuina. She was holding a clipboard in her hands.
"Ah... yes," Yuina tried to control her facial expression, "Are you here to check on... Mr. Ishizaki?"
Nodding her head, the nurse gave Yuina a polite smile, "The doctor asked me too. You must have been his assistant, right? I saw the other one at the child actor's ward."
There was no sense of doubt by the way the nurse was looking at Yuina.
"Yes, yes, I'm his assistant," Yuina smiled albeit awkwardly, "Please, don't let me hinder your work."
The nurse smiled at Yuina before she walked to the bed. Ryuu was still lying there without noticing his surroundings.
Yuina kept an appropriate distance from the nurse, letting her do her task.
Uneasiness shrouded her heart as she realized that she was incapable to act how most wives did when their husbands were sick.
She had to be wary of how she presented herself when she was near him, unable to ask the doctors and nurses more personal questions that often were saved to the closest family members.
Eyelashes fluttering, Yuina forced herself to make up her mind.
She might make this decision in a haste but, after Ryuu woke up and regained his health, she wanted to tell him what of her heart's desire, the change of her mind.
Yuina wanted the world to know that she was his wife.
Screw the one who tried smearing her name.
She would rather announce her existence herself rather than have the scum do it.
"I shouldn't go away..."
