199. Extra Chapter 9 Acting with a Rookie

Translator: Lena

Zeng Xun vents his anger on Shan Yangxun. However, he has no choice but to ask a makeup artist to cover Shan Yangxun’s dark circles with a concealer pencil. The director frowns, “You’re in the crew, not in the school. Take care of your body.”

Noticing that Zeng Xun’s wrath ebbs away, the young man feels relieved, “Mr. Zeng, thank you. I’ll take care of myself.”

Zeng Xun sighs because of Shan Yangxun’s sincere gratitude. The director’s busy working, so he doesn’t waste more time on the young actor.

After throwing a glimpse at Bo Yu who is discussing with the scriptwriter about the plot, Shan Yangxun dares not to interrupt Bo Yu. Therefore, he stays still, waiting for the dresser to do his makeup.

Seeing that, his assistant approaches with a cup of hot water. She places it in front of Shan Yangxun, complaining, “Mr. Shan, the director was so rude. You’re the male lead. How could he scold you in everyone’s presence just because you were sleep deprived?”

Shan Yangxun is mute, so the woman peeps at him carefully from a distance.

She was warned by the man yesterday, so she dares not to cross the line today. The assistant sticks to her post, but can’t control her mouth, “He refused to give you face. Bo Yu is popular, but you will be famous soon. Why do they admire him only, but forget that you’re a male lead?”

Shan Yangxun planned to ignore her. After all, she is a young woman. However, Shan Yangxun can’t bear anymore as the woman goes too far, “The director said so for me. Stop talking.”

His assistant feels wronged. She defends Shan Yangxun against an injustice, otherwise she wouldn’t say so deliberately. She ends up being blamed. ‘I don’t know why I remonstrated earnestly and kindly.’

Shan Yangxun squints at the woman, “We’re in the filming site. Don’t talk bullshit.”

The assistant dares not to be rash and arrogant in Shan Yangxun’s presence. She only nods in aggrieved silence. However, she retorts him loudly in her heart.

Shan Yangxun drinks the hot water. Then he glances at Bo Yu, noticing that the latter is still talking to the scriptwriter. Hence, he fumbles for his script, “Buy some snacks later.”

The assistant is confused, “Mr. Shan, I remember you don’t eat any snack.”

“I’ll give you the money. Go and buy some.” The man doesn’t explain. He heads to Bo Yu with the script.

Peering at Shan Yangxun’s back, the woman pouts. She doesn’t say anything, but leaves with her wallet.

The assistant murmurs as she passes the entrance, because fans crowd to the door, “Damn. Bo Yu likes men. Why are they still obsessed with him? Why not give the money to their parents, but to an actor? They’re unfilial.”

Glancing at Shan Yangxun, the scriptwriter notices the script in the young man’s hand. “Hey.” Speaks the scriptwriter.

Shan Yangxun nods sheepishly. He peers at Bo Yu, realizing that Bo Yu isn’t furious. Therefore, the young actor is relieved inwardly. He then makes him comfortable on a chair and joins the scriptwriter and Bo Yu. The three start to read the script together.

Shan Yangxun knew Bo Yu was an outstanding actor when he saw Bo Yu on TV, but he considered that an actor should definitely have great acting skills, or they didn’t deserve the highest pay an ordinary person couldn’t receive for his/her entire life. However, good-looking performers who aren’t adept at acting flood into the industry now. Shan Yangxun finally realizes that an actor like Bo Yu, who is gorgeous, humble and diligent, is rare, when he starts acting with Bo Yu.

What’s more, Shan Yangxun has learnt some skills of acting and analyzing roles from Bo Yu when he discussed the plot with Bo Yu. For that reason, he becomes more positive toward the outstanding actor.

However, Bo Yu isn’t aware of that.

After their discussion, the scriptwriter analyzes and explains the two main characters’ thoughts carefully. A grip trots over with a small loudspeaker, “Mr. Bo, Yangxun, it’s time to start shooting. The director is ready.”

Bo Yu’s makeup artist hastily reapplies the actor’s makeup, while Shan Yangxun’s dresser strides over to help the young man.

After that, Shan Yangxun and Bo Yu rush to the designated place together.

This scene is about their first quarrel. One of the male lead takes a shower and gets changed after being drenched in a storm, while another cooks noodles and scrambled eggs with tomatoes in the kitchen.

Wearing a simple pajama with gray stripes, Bo Yu stands before a pot. He gingerly stirs the noodles in the pot with chopsticks. The scrambled eggs with tomatoes is steaming.

A young man hugs Bo Yu from behind and rests his head on Bo Yu’s shoulder. The dashing fledgling, Bo Yu’s lover, acts cute idly, “Hon, please explain to your colleague later.”

“For what?” Hearing that, Bo Yu who was delighted turns gloomy, “He won’t misunderstand us. Besides, he knows you’re my roommate.”

The young man seems frustrated, “If he gets it wrong, your days in the company will be tough.”

Shan Yangxun’s acting is immature, but that’s not absurd in the scene. Proper bewilderment and worries, as well as ever-existing depression in his eyes show that he is cautious about their relationship.

Bo Yu’s performance is sophisticated. He always reads through scripts and writes profiles about his roles before acting. These have become his habits after debut. He can not only know characters well, but also figure out ways to play roles through these efforts.

The smile on Bo Yu’s face fades away. As cameras zoom in, the corner of his lips twitches. It seems that he becomes furious because of his lover’s words. Therefore, the man only prepares a bowl of noodles, adding some steaming scrambled eggs with tomatoes. He then turns around and leaves the kitchen, ignoring his lover, “He doesn’t have any evidence, so he won’t talk nonsense in the company. Besides, our company won’t fire an employee casually.”

“Can’t you think of me?”

After shouting at Bo Yu, the handsome young man leaves in a huff.

Bo Yu’s eyelids droop. He remains still, staring at the noodles before him. After a long time, he stretches out his hand composedly. As the cameras zoom in, Bo Yu’s fingers are trembling. His indifference is broken into pieces and turns to sadness.

After a few bites, Bo Yu smacks his chopsticks down on to the table. He sneers outragedly.

“Have I thought of you…”

“Well, when did you care about me?”

The young couple squabbles for the first time after they live together. What’s worse, it seems that they won’t make peace in a short time.

“Cut!”

Zeng Xun is dissatisfied. Facing the two actors, he proposes, “Do it one more time. This one is…”

Bo Yu nods. He’s okay with that.

Naturally, Shan Yangxun agrees.

The director explains details to them, asking them to handle the details. At the same time, staff members are preparing props again.

The two actors start shooting in ten minutes later.

Bo Yu in a pajama with gray stripes stands before a pot. He keeps stirring noodles in the pot. A broad smile on his face stuns everyone in presence. The man checks the kitchen door from time to time, waiting for his lover to come. They can have dinner together.

A pair of arms wrap Bo Yu’s waist. His young lover approaches, “Hon, please explain to your colleague later.”

The chopsticks slip through Bo Yu’s fingers and fall to the ground.

Bo Yu struggles out of his lover’s arms. He then crouches down to pick the chopsticks up and washes them, “He won’t talk nonsense in the company. Besides, our company won’t fire an employee casually. No worries.”

As cameras zoom in, Bo Yu’s facial expressions can be seen clearly on screens. His happiness is replaced by depression.

He can’t understand why his lover refuse to disclose their relationship. They’ve been together for years. Is it unworthy to…

Bo Yu’s young lover scratches his hair vexedly, “Your company doesn’t care about that, but my company will take that into consideration. I’m preparing for the upcoming work review. If I pass it, I will get a chance of promotion.”

“I got it.” It seems that Bo Yu is heartbroken. He responds impassively.

Upset, his young lover doesn’t know what to do. However, he is more eager to get promoted than comfort Bo Yu at the end. Gritting his teeth, the young man leaves in a huff.

Bo Yu adds some scrambled eggs with tomatoes on the noodles. He then steps out of the kitten with his bowl. Sitting at the table, the man gulps down noodles.

Tears drops from his eyes as he opens his mouth. Clenching the chopsticks, Bo Yu raises his head to stare at the ceiling. He struggles to hold back his tears.

‘Is our love filthy?’

“Cut.”

The director is pleasant, but he thinks some points can be better. Zeng Xun turns to Bo Yu, “Once more, okay? You should be more reserved and explosive after Shan Yangxun leaves the kitchen.”

A man expresses his emotions in a reserved way. However, he will be explosive because of deep affection before his lover.

Bo Yu performed well in the previous two shots, but Zeng Xun thinks Bo Yu can act perfectly.

After a discussion with the director, Bo Yu sincerely takes in Zeng Xun’s suggestion. He doesn’t consider the director to be annoyed. The actor nods and expresses his opinions.

At the end, Zeng Xun sits back to his sit. Staring at the screens, he shouts, “Ready.”

Bo Yu gradually gets in the zone.

Shan Yangxun observes Bo Yu from a distance.

Everyone can tell Bo Yu’s previous performances were outstanding. However, Zeng Xun is so picky that Bo Yu was asked to have the third try. Apparently, people on the spot are looking forward to Bo Yu’s interpretation of the role.
