"I came from there but I wasn't sent by them." Ernst Haeckel answered.

"That's too bad. By the way, I am Suguru Okabe, the leader of this place. Nice to meet you." Okabe offered his hand for a handshake. Then, he looked at the motorcycle that Haeckel brought.

"Do you need gas? I'm afraid that vehicles have already stopped working. That thing called 'Echo' fried everything up including our guns."

"Yeah I know. I bought this from the Shop. "

Okabe's eyes widened and mumbled some words. "Every Item on the Shop costs so high. The cheapest motorcycle costs 100 Universal Coins. How many zombies have you killed already?

"More than a hundred."

Okabe's eyes grew even wider. "Brother Haeckel, help me defend this place. The people here needs our protection because they are weak and powerless. We, on the other hand, are given powers to defend them and fight against these monsters."

Haeckel shook his head and patted the body of his motorcycle, "I must go back to the Imperial Palace, and thus, I cannot stay. I was just going to ask permission from you if I could refill the fuel of this motorcycle."

"Oh. Then I must help this brave brother out." Okabe looked sad but he still assisted Haeckel in refueling the motorcycle. "Do you know anything about the imperial family, the government and what's happening?"

Haeckel told everything he knew from Kaito's stories such as the existence of Meta and that nobody really knows what's happening, not even the Imperial Family.

Click. The refueling had finished and so did the conversation. Okabe gave him a map and bade him good bye.

"So I'm called a Meta. Sound like a cool name." Okabe stared at the back of Haeckel who was riding away.

Haeckel was still 1,200 kilometers away from his destination. If he had a smooth sailing ride, the trip would only take 15 hours.

The difference between riding a car and riding a motorcycle is that when you are driving, it seems like the world just passes by you. When riding a motorcycle on the other hand, you are more immersed with the world. The views and the sights are more real and it seems like you have some sort of connection with the world.

This feeling was exactly what Haeckel was feeling. He was more aware of his surroundings specially since he needed to be on lookout for troubles. He did not have the help of Chouji nor did he have the comfort of the defenses provided by his previous vehicle, the Paramount Marauder, which he named the 'Reaper.'

As Haeckel was enjoying the wind blowing upon his face, he arrived at Narutaki bridge made chaotic by cars, some of them were even burnt. He pictured out that prior to the apocalypse, the traffic was bad in this place and that the people were in chaos.

Haeckel saw that even among the traffic of cars, his motorcycle could fit into the sidewalk. He drove slowly while being attentive to his surroundings.

Vroom...

The soft revving of the motorcycle's engine was the only sound that could be heard in the middle of the bridge. Haeckel felt something off, the hair on his whole body was raising up. He looked at the river flowing below the bridge and saw something which disappeared quickly. He blinked a couple of times but did not see the thing that he had seen. It was a humongous shadow.

Haeckel accelerated away, as fast as he could and passed the Narutaki bridge without a scratch and without a single sighting of any zombies. Japan's small population and the fact that the toll roads are far from the residential areas are factors that made his trip smoother.

An hour later, Haeckel was once again slowed down by another hurdle. The road ahead of him was called the Takeo Juncture. The juncture packed with useless cars which blocked his way. There were zombies that wandered around without a specific direction in mind. Most probably, because of the apocalypse, the people were trapped here and those who didn't turn into zombies were infected.

Haeckel had two options. The first one was to take a detour and the second one was to move forward. Of course, as a foreigner in this area, Haeckel chose to follow the map and move forward. He parked his motorcycle and climbed at a random car's roof.

The impassable road stretched too far but the end of the line could still be seen. If he reached that place, his ride would once again run smoothly. There was about less than a hundred zombies in this juncture.

Haeckel steadied his breath and slowly unsheathed his two katanas. 12 p.m. sunlight was reflected by the steel katanas powered by Corollonium. He took a deep breath and screamed, "Time to die!"

The zombies stopped moving and slowly tilted their heads at the source of the sound, a human who was standing on top of a van. One particular zombie that was nearest to the human, one that was at least 25 year old woman when was still alive, attacked first, "Roar!"

A deluge of zombies hit the van he was standing on. His body rocked violently but he managed to maintain his balance. The 25 year old female zombie was the first one to climb the van.

Compared to the first day that zombies appeared, the zombies after eight days look different. Their skin was cracked and was now filled with more black veins. Their white eyes had turned now turned into black. Their black long nails now looked like claws which was black and sharp, its nails could even punch a hole through cars. The shirt they ore was now more tattered and probably in the future, they would be bare naked.

Haeckel raised his katana. Sunlight glistened on it as he said, "Niten Itchi-ryu."

Green light outlined the katana as he casually slashed the sword down the zombie's throat. With his measly strength, if he used a normal sword, he would not be able to decapitate a zombie in one strike. It would even be stuck on the zombie's neck but with the plasma that Corollonium creates, every slash was deadly. Every slash was like slicing into tofu.

Swish.

The zombie's head was detached by the katana strike. Black blood gushed out of the neck and the zombie's body fell and drowned into the sea of zombies.
