Dead's Requiem

(That apartment looks good to live on and is high enough to use as a vantage point.) Ernst Haeckel was looking at a brown three story residential apartment.

"Follow me." Haeckel carefully walked to the apartment just in front of the train station with Shizuka pushing the motorcycle.

The front door of the apartment was locked and the windows as well were barricaded. Haeckel circled around the apartment and found the fire exit ladder. He pulled it down and turned to Shizuka.

"Just leave the motorcycle here. I have the keys anyway." Then Haeckel climbed the ladder.

"Hey, are we going to stay here tonight?"

"Yes. Check the rooms for any food supplies too."

"Aye sir."

On the rooftop, both of them were able to see the landscape. The sun was already setting yet the streetlights were still turned off. The world was filled with darkness and solitude every time night came.

"Look! That's the City Hall. There are humans over there." Shizuka pointed to an infrastructure two kilometers away from where they were. Haeckel also looked but didn't say anything further.

"We will check the whole apartment for any hostiles. It's safer if we stick together." Haeckel opened the door which led to the interior of the apartment. He had one of his katanas lighting up the dark apartment.

"B*tch stop struggling!" The big burly man slapped the woman once again.

"Satoh you are going to die a horrible death!" The woman hissed angrily. Her dress was brutally torn to shreds, revealing her soft white skin and two mountain peaks which were slightly covered by her arm.

"Ayase-chan what are you saying? That's a horrible wish." Satoh laughed, "Who's going to kill me? I'm the strongest in this place. Without me, your father's little group of 'saviors' would not be able to save even half of the remaining survivors living in the city hall right now."

"My father's going to look for me and if he knows what you did, he's going to kill you! I know my father. Even if he can't right now, he'll look for a way to kill you."

"Your father? Oh, of course he wouldn't know about any of this. I won't be coming back to the City Hall anyway. The rules there are too rigid and I can't even have fun. Sometimes, I just want to lash out and kill your father but that's not the kind of man that I am.

"Do you know those people harassing our camp every now and then? I was thinking of joining the gang. I like how those people think and how those people are not treated like objects just like how your father treats us. We're humans too. We want to have fun!"

"Ptui." Ayase spat on the man's face and tried to slap the man on top of him but Satoh caught it.

"I actually like women who fight. Dominating women like you just feels so much better. That b*tch Uehara was just like you. Hmm, you're a bit better than her. You're my ideal type of woman you know and besides, when I tore her clothes to shreds she just wimped like a baby."

"F*ck you!" Ayase kneed the man on top of him on the balls.

"Arghh!" Satoh rolled on the bed with his hands on his private part. Ayase ran but when she was about to turn the knob of the door, a huge hand gripped her head. Instead of a hand made of flesh, this hand was created by an invisible force. The force that made Satoh become the strongest Meta in this place.

"You can't go anywhere until I'm finished with you." This time, Satoh's voice was serious and scary. He dragged the frail but beautiful woman by her hair.

Ayase cried. She did not know what to do anymore. Her body did not even responded to what she was thinking. It was like she was not in control of her body anymore.

The savage man named Satoh looked more monstrous than the monsters outside. He 'explored' the woman's body with a lecherous smile on his face. He looked at the woman and smiled.

"I'm going to enjoy each and every bit of you. Itadakima-" Satoh was not able finish his sentence. Blood seeped out from his lips. He looked down and saw a green light pierce through his body.

"What the f*ck is this?" He tried to look behind him but he collapsed and died.

"It's okay dear." A woman went towards Ayase, covered her using the bed sheet and hugged her. "You're safe now, okay?"

Ayase cried even harder. She did not think that she would be saved anymore. "Am I hallucinating?" She thought to herself. "Maybe living in a dream is far better than living in reality." Ayase continued to cry until she fell asleep.

"Someone's screaming in here." Shizuka whispered. "Which room is it?"

The two of them walked down the hallway with Haeckel's katana illuminating the way. On the second floor of the apartment, they found the trace of the screaming. Shizuka tried to eavesdrop by placing her ear on the door of the room.

"Like this." Haeckel bent his legs like sprinters would do. Using the energy katana, he silently opened the door. As soon as the door burst open, he immediately dashed forward like a leopard and pierced the man's heart.

Right now, Haeckel was inspecting all the other rooms. He left Shizuka to take care for the girl. Inside of one of the rooms, he saw Piattos, his favorite chip and heartily ate it.

(This isn't a bad day. Wait, did I just kill someone? Yes but it's okay. It was for the betterment of the society anyway. Even in this situations of chaos, why do people like him do evil? Is it human nature to be evil?)

Haeckel continued to reflect while eating Piattos.
