(THE SECOND TRIAL)

Alda jolted awake from her angry state and looked in haste at Kayla, who had worried eyes and a forced smile that said she should control herself for a while because the Duchess was still here with them. She received her signal and made her mind away from thinking about what she saw earlier. She looked at Duchess Aerwen, who looked at her with a concerned face. She happened to also see her having an angry expression earlier upon mentioning her approval of her request. 

"Are you okay child?" Duchess Aerwen asks. Alda forced a smile and an answer. 

"Yes, mother, I am fine. I'm only tired. Thank you for your approval, " 

The Duchess sighs in relief upon hearing her reply, then says it is a good way to start the day.

"Okay, you can go back to your room first and rest. Mrs. Tilda, Marsha and I will talk for a while to catch up on things, " 

Alda nodded then stood up from the couch as she looked at Kayla before she left and said. 

"I see you later, Mrs. Tilda," 

Kayla looked at her then nodded. Alda then leaves the room and goes back to Lady Cathlen's chamber. When she arrived, the anger that she had been keeping inside once again burst out. She rang the bell inside her room and Angela arrived in a few seconds. 

"Miss?" She asked with curious eyes. 

"You don't have an errand to do today?" Alda asked. 

"No, I have already done them. Why miss? " Angela answered.

"Pass this message to Mia. Tell her that I will visit Lady Vendia later tonight, "Alda mentions, making Angela worry. 

"Tonight?" she asked. 

"Yes, tonight," Alda replied. 

But, miss, you just arrived from Voldrone land. You should rest first, "Angela spoke out her concern to Alda, but Alda only showed her a blank expression, with eyes saying words that she did not care. Angela turned even more worried upon seeing her reactions and said. 

"Miss, you can visit Lady Vendia again tomorrow night. You should take care of yourself first, " Angela could not finish her words upon seeing Alda look at her with piercing eyes and said. 

"Mind your words. I'm not weak and I don't need your sympathy, " 

Her words made Angela shocked and hurt. Her eyes were still glued to Angela and, after three seconds, she realized what she had said out loud to her. Alda sighed and felt bad. She went close to Angela and patted her shoulder. 

"I'm sorry, miss. I apologize, " Angela apologized as she lowered her head and looked down at the floor with a face almost in tears. Alda heaved a sigh again and replied. 

"You don't need to apologize. You didn't do anything wrong. You are only worried about me. I'm sorry. I'm just out of the weather today. But you don't have to worry. I am fine. I just need to speak to Lady Vendia later tonight. It is an urgent matter, so I must not skip it, "Alda explained the details of her reply and reactions earlier. 

Yerre went inside the art-store upon hearing Prince Adam say that Prince Albert had gone back to the Alfendra kingdom. She entered and saw a different person. This person is so petite and only has a five-point-one height. Yerre went over to the counter with Sir Lay tailing her at her back and asked. 

"Excuses me sir. Can I ask you where the previous owner of this art-store was? " 

The petite man looked at him in surprise and replied.

"Miss Vendia!" 

Yerre looked at him in surprise and felt suspicious about the man in front of her upon hearing him speak Vendia's name. The man sensed her discomfort and concern, so he replied in haste to make her at ease. 

"Oh, miss. I am just a normal person. I am one of Prince Albert's trusted servants. He asked me to manage his store for the meantime while he fixed some business in the Alfendra kingdom. My name is Khong. I am 22 years old. I am charged with supplying and cooking food for his shadow guards. Sir Lay here already knows about me, "Khong replied, mentioning Sir Lay in his words, which made Yerre turn and look at Sir Lay with wondering eyes. Sir Lay nodded and said. 

"Sir Khong is one of Prince Albert's trusted people," 

Upon saying these words, Yerre finally felt at ease. She looked back at Sir Khong and he continued talking with a sincere smile. 

"Before Prince Albert left for Alfendra Land, he told me everything about you. So miss Vendia doesn't need to fret about me, "

"Thank you for clearing things up for me. Do you have an idea on what day he is going to come back? " 

Khong thought through his memories of the past few days for a minute, then answered. 

"His highness did not tell me, miss. He only told me that I should wait until he came back. Oh! He also said to give this painting to you, " 

Khong gave the 1/2-size canvas that was covered with white paper to her and she accepted it. 

"Oh, did he tell you what this painting was for?" Yerre asked. 

"His highness did not tell me. But I think that is a surprise gift for you, miss. " Khong answered with a bright smile. Yerre nodded and didn't ask any further questions. 

"Thank you, Khong. We will go now, "she said. Khong nods in reply, then the two people exit the art store and go back home. When Yerre arrived back at the Marquis residence, a young woman then shouted Vendia's name in surprise, which made her flinch and stumble from getting down to her horse. Luckily, Sir Lay was on her back assisting her from going down and she never fell. Yerre sighed with relief upon getting down from her horse, thanked Sir Lay for helping her, then turned around to see who was calling out Vendia's name, then saw it was Mia. 

She saw her in a hurry to get to where she was standing. Her face showed anxiousness and impatience, as if she had something she wanted to tell her that couldn't wait. 

Yerre commands Sir Lay to take the horse back to the barn while she goes to talk to Mia alone. Sir Lay nodded and Yerre left her. 

"Miss Vendia!" Mia called again while catching her breath. Yerre looked at her worried and asked. 

"Are you okay? Is everything okay? Did something bad happen? " 

Mia looked at her, still not done catching her breath, then tried to smile, but it failed because her breath was still unstable. 

"N--nothing happened, miss." She replied as she slowly regained herself back to normal. 

"Oh, then why were you in a hurry earlier? Did Lady Cathlen send a letter again? " Yerre asked, and excitement glowed in her eyes. The other day, she could not help but feel worried and anxious about Alda all day after receiving a letter that said. She wouldn't be able to visit her for two days because Lady Cathlen's parents had requested a family outing for two days outside Astrod land. 

The words outing caused a panic in Yerre's mind and heart. She could not help but feel worried and anxious. Until such a thought filled her with anxiousness crossed her mind. 

"Are they going to Voldrone land? What kind of place are they going to visit? Is it Voldrone land? No, Alda promised me that she would not go there. But that place was owned by Lady Cathlen's father. So it is possible, but, ' 

She became anxious all day and every time they ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner she would space out and feel out of the weather, which made the Marquis concerned and bothered. They asked her what was wrong, but she only told them that she was only having a mood swing and that they did not need to worry. Her words convinced them and they all ate in peace once again. 

Mia looked straight at her and smiled. 

"Yes, miss. Angela told me that she arrived earlier and that she would visit you later tonight, "Mia answered, which made Yerre feel relieved and happy. 

'She's back!' she thought, excited about seeing Alda. 

"Okay, thank you. Is that all she said? " Yerre asked. 

"Yes, miss." Mia answered. 

"Thank you, Mia. I will go back to my room now, "Yerre said. She didn't wait for Mia's reply and hurried over inside the mansion to go back to Lady Vendia's chamber. 

When Yerre arrived inside, she then searched for the dress she would wear later tonight. A dress that is fitted and uncomfortable to sleep in. While she was at it, a surprised knock rang inside the room, making her stop what she was doing and go over to the door to see who was knocking. Upon opening the door, she saw it was Mary.
