HOTD: Legacy

Nick woke up in the evening and dressed up quickly and exited the room to stretch out. He left the girls in the room since they were peacefully sleeping. He didn't want to wake them up without any reason. Shizuka's friend was still sleeping at a side.

Nick went downstairs and reached the lobby and found some kids playing around. This was a really nice scene especially after the dead started to rise. Nick walked out of the lobby and saw Kohta standing at a side. Kohta also noticed Nick and waved him.

Nick: So, how do you like the new base?

Kohta: It is really nice and big. Except for the runaways, everything is inside the concrete wall so it should be a really zombie-free region.

(A/N: The runways were covered by fences and barbed wires.)

Nick: We can start cleaning them from tomorrow, at least we cleaned the main building so we should be completely fine inside.

Kohta: Nick-san, do you think that there would be other peoples with power like you?

Nick: There might be… I cannot guarantee but they might not be like me. Power corrupts personality.

Kohta: Yes, this world will bring out the darker sides of humans.

Nick: Didn't we see it before?

Kohta: That we did.

Nick: So, how is Asami-san?

Kohta seemed to hoke on his own saliva and turned completely red.

Kohta: Th-There is nothing between us… yet.

Nick: So, there is hope for the future, right? Haha… don't need to be embarrassed like that, let everything flow naturally.

Kohta: Haha… At least I am not like Kumoro-san.

Both of them didn't say anything but the next moment both of them burst into laughter. Soon it was already dark and both of them entered the building and helped the soldiers to barricade the door. After some time, Nick entered his room and saw the girls were already awake. Even Rika has woken up, Rika thanked him again for saving her.

A few hours just passed like that, talking chatting and having fun. Shizuka has already told Rika about Nick's superpowers but she didn't tell him about his real identity. When Nick showed her the powers first hand she was really shocked. After some time someone knocked on their door telling them that the food was ready and Yuriko and Soichiro were waiting for them on the table.

The five of them left the room and reached a huge canteen like area, Soichiro, Yuriko, and others of Nick's group were already on the table. Nick was not so much close with Takashi and Rei even if they were in his group. Toshimi and Misuzu were quite close to him but he didn't choose them for today's mission because he didn't want them to face any evolved zombies.

Yuriko: So, how do you like the arrangement? This place can be a permanent dining space.

Nick: Yes, this is really nice.

Soichiro: So what are we going to do next?

Nick: Why are you asking me?

Everyone on the table gave him a deadpanned stare and replied together.

Everyone: Of course, you are our leader.

Nick heard this and stayed quiet for some time before speaking again.

Nick: Ok, I can be the leader but there are some responsibilities in which all of you are better. Father, you will be responsible to talk with new survivors we find and you will lead all of the soldiers. I will just have my previous team with me. Mother, you will be responsible for inventory and stuff like that. Shion-san, you will have to maintain the rules among the survivors.

Soichiro: Ok, works fine with me.

Yuriko: I have been already doing this so no problem, but I will need a team with me.

Nick: No problem.

Shion: I will be also fine but I will need a team with me.

Nick: After we completely clean make this place zombie-free, Mother, you and Shion-san will hold an interview together to assign jobs to these survivors.

Both the woman nodded in understanding and they also thought that this was needed.

Nick: How many survivors do we have currently?

Yuriko: 1231 survivors out of which we have 87 kids under 14 and 63 people older than 60.

Nick: Good, maximum of the survivors are in working condition.

Soichiro: We would need to recruit some soldiers too.

Nick: Don't worry, I will take care of the motivation part. Mother, how long will the food will last?

Yuriko: 2 months… maybe slightly less.

Nick: Do any of you know where we can find food, I am not so much familiar with this country.

Rika: There is food in our base… but we didn't have vehicles and manpower to take them. There is rice, bacon and many kind of other foods in there. There are also weapons and military vehicles there… like tanks and military trucks but we lost them due to the EMP.

Yuriko: There are a lot of wineries in the town where we can find food.

Soichiro: We have the train yard and the port.

Shion: We can find most food around the city center.

Nick: Let's see… we are in dire need of weapons too. The train yard might be slightly crowded but the port and city center will be brimming with zombies. If there are a high number of zombies that means that place will also have a higher number of evolved zombies.

Soichiro: I also agree with you.

Nick: We raid Rika-san's base first, I think that the mechanics will be able to fix the tanks and trucks?

Soichiro: They should be.

Rika: I can help too, in our training we were also taught how to fix our vehicles. If I get the necessary parts then I will be able to fix them.

Nick: Good, so after we clean the airport we will raid the Military Base first.

Rika: Wait... if you really need weapons and army vehicles you will find more in a S.T.A.R.S. base. I know they made a huge base just a few kilometers away from our base. I don't know what happened but they abandoned the base right after the breakout. But I am not sure that if they took everything with them or not. If they even left a few things it would be a nice haul.

Yurko: I think we should raid the Military Base first before we raid the S.T.A.R.S. base.

Nick: I also think that will be nice. So from tomorrow, we are going to start cleaning the hangers and after that, we sweep the whole place within the concrete walls.

Soichiro: You really made a good plan.

Nick: Even though it is a good plan, we will still have casualties.

Everyone became quiet but understood what Nick meant they also agreed with him silently because they also knew it was unavoidable. They might be able to take care of the normal zombies but they would surely have casualties if attacked by an evolved one. Even normal zombies should not be underestimated. If they surround you then you are zone for and the normal zombies have strength in numbers.

After the dinner, Nick and the girls went into their room.

Shizuka: Nick-chan, let's have a drink~.

Nick immediately agreed and took a bottle and glasses and laid them down on the floor.

After an hour the five of them decided to call it a day and went to sleep. Rika went to her own bed to sleep. The next morning Nick woke up when he felt something on his lips. Nick opened his eyes and found Shizuka was kissing him hungrily.

Nick: Arent you worried that your friend will see this?

Shizuka: Let her see~, I don't care~.

She said and started to kiss again, Nick's hand also started to roam on her body.

Nick: Let's have a nice and hot shower.

Shizuka: Hau…~, you just spoke my mind, Nick-chan~.

Nick got up from the bed and picked up Shizuka bridal style and entered the bathroom and locked it from the inside. After a long, nice, and steamy shower both of them left the bathroom and saw that the girls were already up and all of them were showing them a mischievous grin.

Rika: My… My… Shizuka-chan, I didn't knew you were so naughty.

Shizuka blushed and hugged Nick and tried to hide her face in his chest.

Shizuka: Hau~, Nick-chan, Rika-chan is bullying me~.

Nick: Hahaha… let's get dressed now. We have a long day ahead of us…
