A week after our meeting, a special page for my novel was created on the publisher’s website.

There, detailed information about the release date was posted. I was getting more messages from my friends.

‘You’re even working on a novel, aren’t you?’

This was Rio.

‘Haruki, are you going to publish a book? I’ll buy it when it comes out!’

This was Kazuya.

“Senpai, I’ll buy your book when it comes out.’

This was from a junior in the calligraphy club.

I didn’t think it was possible, but I wondered if these guys were checking my SNS. They even found out that I was going to publish a book.

Then, another week later, I received a shipment from the publisher at my house.

“Oh, what if this is it?”

" "

I opened the cardboard box with anticipation/high hopes.

“Oh!!”

As I had expected, it was a copy of the novel.

It was so exciting to see my writing be made into a book like this.

“Sara, look! The complimentary copy of the novel has arrived!”

I took the cardboard box with the book/novel inside to Sara, who was in the living room.

“Y-You don’t have to shout so loudly, I can hear you.”

Sara said, either taken aback or surprised by my excitement/high emotion.

“I’m sorry, I just got a little carried away. …”

“Well, I understand how you feel. You’ve been working so hard.”

Sara gave me a gentle smile.

“Thank you. So, I’ll give this to you too.”

Then, I handed one of the books to Sara.

“Oh, you’re sure?”

“Yeah, of course. Sara has been supporting me.”

“Thank you.”

Sara took the book and stared at the cover.

“Ah, Nii-San, please sign it.”

Then she held out the book I had given her.

“Oh, are you sure?”

“Yes, because the author is here!”

She looked so happy.

“All right. I’ll be right back.”

I went back to my room, picked up my pen and came back.

“I’ll sign it.”

“Please do.”

I turned the cover around and signed “Tojo Rei” on it.

“Here you go!”

“Thank you very much!”

Sara looked happy when I handed her the book I had signed.

If she was that happy, it would make me happy as an author.

“I’ll read it properly later!”

“Oh, thank you.”

When I said that, I gently patted Sara’s head.

And finally, the release was less than a month away.

" "

Time flies.

In the blink of an eye, it was the release day.

Starting today, it would be available in bookstores.

It would also be available at online shopping sites, and an e-book version would be released later.

“I’m so nervous!!”

I was in my room checking social media.

Apparently, the book was flying off the shelves in bookstores.

There were several messages saying “I bought it.”

I also received a message from Asagiri-san, the person in charge of the book, congratulating me on the release.

But that was not all.

There were messages from Odagiri and Himuro-sensei, Rio, Kazuya, and other close friends.

Rio and Kazuya were polite enough to include their pictures. It seemed that they actually bought it.

I took a break after I finished replying to them.

“I’ll send a copy to Odagiri-san and Himuro-san.”

I guess I should send it to them since they have been so kind to me.

Well, I can give it directly to Odagiri-san, so there’s no need to send it.

A month later, I received a call from Asagiri-san.

“Thank you for your hard work. Are you fine?”

“Yes, I’m fine, but what’s wrong?”

Asagiri-san called, which meant it must be something related to publishing.

“Because your first volume is doing so well, we’ve decided to produce a second volume!”

“Are you sure!?”

“Yes, congratulations!”

And so it was decided that a second volume would be in the works.
