I'm The Boss's Secretary?!

Chapter 226 - Dark Intent-I

Seeing the woman who had come, the people gathering in the large wide space room all bowed in greeting. The woman looked beautiful with her appearance but in the truth that was not her true appearance. It was often for witches to steal human skin to have it for themselves, however, most witches could only maintain the same skin for every five years, the oldest.

The mistress, however, had always put the same appearance even though thirty years have passed. It was a question to many of how old the mistress was, and most people in the room didn't even know what was her name.

"Welcome, my brothers and sisters," said the Mistress with the melodious voice. If it was not for people here, who knows she was a witch, they would have believed her as a beautiful woman who had stepped to the wrong place with her pure and innocent look.

"Ava," greeted the Mistress when she passed by Ava, and she raised her hand to see the face of the Mistress. Looking closer, the woman's eyes hold a glint of purple. "I am glad to be able to see you here now."

"I am glad to see that you are healthy, Mistress," said Ava to receive the nod of approval from the woman.

"I am healthy but my feelings are not at the best place," said the Mistress as she sauntered to the seat placed in the middle of the room. Her long black dress swept the floor when her shoes clicked to the floor. Taking a seat, she glanced around at the people in the room. "Do anyone of you know what I dislike the most?"

"Mistress, we-" said someone from the crowd, who was about to get to the Mistress's good side by singing praise but before they could, the Mistress's gentle eyes turned ice cold.

"Who said you could speak?" In an instance, the air turns cold and chilling. "Don't do things out of your pathetic volition. If you think that I am here to gather you to have a party you are all wrong."

Most people knew what the Mistress meant, and some began to glance behind where Numhae was standing, at the corner of the room. The woman was scared. After her grave mistake of having the Associates seizing her hiding building, she thought of ways to gain a positive light from the Mistress by searching for the book that the Associates had taken but that was to no avail as she cannot open the rooms inside the building.

It was damnable because she had even lured a vampire to help her get inside the Associates, but then the vampire whose hair was red in color knows that she cannot open the doors on the building and decided to stop halfway.

In the end, Numhae had to kill the pesky vampire, who was stupid enough not to follow her direction. If only that pureblood who she only knows the name to be Jung never found her secret base, this would not have happened! Curses! Numhae yelled in her mind.

Her position now in front of the Mistress was nothing less to a lamb about to be chop. Her mistake was not a small one, and the Mistress was someone who would kill for the slightest anty mistake.

"Numhae," called the woman, who was sitting at her chair as if it was her throne. Numhae didn't know what to do when her name was called. All eyes on her but she can't be arsed about the eyes. It was the Mistress's judgment that frightened her to the point she had frozen like a stone, stunned.

The Mistress stared at Numhae who had not moved, "Do I have to call your name twice?"

This was enough to have Numhae walk in front of the Mistress. Ava watched the woman, her eyes that were black in color turned lighter when she saw the dark shadow looming over the woman, the shadow of death. This was Ava's power that set her different from others, and the Mistress favored her because of the power she had.

It was clear since the moment Ava entered the house that Numhae was going to die.

"I apologize, Mistress," Numhae immediately knelt and she pressed her head on the floor. She had seen plenty of people killed by the Mistress and she didn't want to die in that kind of fashion! "This happened because of my carelessness and I made blunders, but please give me another chance."

"Are you ordering me?" the words came from the Mistress struck thunder on Numhae's throat. She could feel the intensity of the woman's gaze even without lifting her chin. Fears of death were evident in Numhae's eyes as she understood that there was no way out for herself.

"I-I will never dare to!" she said hurriedly but the woman's anger was not appeased.

But she can't die now! She didn't want to die before she could avenge the brimming anger she had to the pureblood who had destroyed her plan.

But what should she do? Numhae turned the gears in her mind while keeping her upper lips pressed tight in her lower lips.

"I would have accepted your apologies and forgive you for your mistake Numhae. But it is a pity," came the apathetic tone from the mistress, "I thought you would achieve something but then my wishes vanished last week. Where is the book?"

Numhae pursed her lips tighter, biting to her lips. Was this the end? But she didn't want to die! She kept searching for answers when she thought of an answer, "It was taken by someone."

"What?" The Mistress was shocked by the news that she stood on her feet. She walked toward Numhae, her hand that was covered with the black gloves shot toward to catch her neck. "Repeat it once again," she demanded, her eyes glaring wide with anger.

"S-Someone took t-the book before I could move it from the building. It was during the time of the pureblood attacking their base while I was out to search for another book," the woman said quickly, feeling the air reducing from her body, her face paled, and the skin of her face began to crumble.

Numhae had always admired the Mistress, but it was not the woman who she admired and respect. It was the power the woman hold that makes Numhae want to be like the woman.

To be close to the Mistress, she had even made her own place with her being the center. When she was called as the mistress and treated with respect, it brought her joy. The happiness had gotten over her head that she never expected for a pureblood vampire to come and attack her base.

"I could still tolerate you ruining your facade and bursting news of us, the dark witches to the Associates, but to lose the book..." The Mistress's eyes brightened from the shimmering anger. "That book was my only clue!" she exclaimed, and her hand on Numhae's neck tightened.

Knowing the situation no one said anything. Ava saw the smile from the dark witches in the room which was normal for them, as Ava also had a smile on her lips to see Numhae's end. But unlike the others who took enjoyment from seeing Ava's suffer out of their sadistic tendency.

Ava had a squabble in the past with Numhae, where she had lost her arm because of the stupid woman's acts. Although she had regained her arm, a witch's anger is never-ending and so was their grudge.

To see that Numhae would be meeting her end today already put her in a good mood when she was about to leave the place. Truthfully before she planned to leave, she wanted to stay and watch Numhae suffer, but with the pressing matter she had to attend to, she decided to leave early. Fortunately or not, there came the opportunity for her now to see Numhae suffer.

"But I know who had taken it and where it is," bluffed Numhae. She only knew the pureblood's surname, and she didn't know where the book was hidden by the pureblood but to protect herself from being killed now, she had lied.

The Mistress's hand on her neck which clawed deep to dig her skin stopped at this word of her. Her eyes which were wide from anger, turning slightly calmer, "Tell me the then where it is."

Feeling the grip on her neck lessening, Numhae quickly speak, "I will bring it for you! I just need a few more time," begged Numhae, "I know where it is and it will just take me a week to fetch the book."

"And you are telling me to wait?" questioned the Mistress, her lips set in displease. Despite her slender body, the Mistress hoisted Numhae's body in a brisk; keeping Numhae's feet from the ground that her legs flailed around, searching to have a surface for her to step.

"Three days! Just three days I know I can-" Numhae started before she was cut off.

"Where is it?" The Mistress was in no mood to hear the words of the woman who failed to finish her job. "A second more and I will not hesitate."

Numhae could feel her throat burning, and she exclaimed, "The Associates! The pureblood named Jung has the book!" Saying this, the mistress released her hand and threw her body across the room.

Numhae scurried away over the floor, keeping distance between her and the Mistress who was patently angered. Her eyes checked the door, making direction in her mind when she should run.

"A pureblood has the book?" Numhae could not see the Mistress's face with her eyes switching between black and white after her neck was choked, but she knew the expression she holds wouldn't be great to see.
