I'm The Boss's Secretary?!
Chapter 305 - Crying Sky-III
Music Recommendation; Haendle — sarabande
Lee Taehyung had gone halfway to the dark witches' house when he felt something was wrong. There was things that off about the road he took to go back to the witches lair and he noticed how the crows were unusually quiet as if they were having a good time of their own.
Without further ado, following his guts feeling, Lee Taehyung went back to the hospital. Blood greeted him at first sight from the entrance, following the staircase and beside the hallways were bodies kept on the sides.
As he had entered through the back door, Lee Taehyung carefully made his way toward Seulgi's room without taking a path that could lead him to cross path with other dark witches. He hen he reached to the third floor of the hospital, Lee Taehyung hurried to Seulgi's room only to find his younger twin's hand piercing through Seulgi's body.
His eyes widened, raged filled his body, and his mind act to the first offensive move he could muster using his magic. With his wind magic, he threw Lee Taein across the room before quickly making his way to attend Seulgi who was lying on the floor with pool of blood beneath her. A spell left his lips to heal Seulgi's wounds, "Stay with me, Seulgi," Taehyung, who had took her by his arms, encourage her not to fall asleep with the wound she had now as it would be dangerous for her life.
Seulgi struggled to get her eyes open, finding her body didn't press with the cold floor again as she had been picked up by arms full of warmth. It was when her eyes had stopped being dazzy that she could take a better look of Taehyung who was across her eyes. Unlike how he appeared earlier with the distorted and malicious smile, concern and panic seem to have filled his eyes. "Taehyung?" Seulgi questioned, she asked herself if this was her last visage of her hallucinations.
"Yes it's me," Taehyung entertained her questions, showing her a smile.
"How strange," Seulgi said, huffing for breaths. "You just said mean things earlier. Why are you hugging me now?"
"That wasn't me. It was my twin brother. I'm sorry for coming late," Taehyng said which Seulgi found to hold hint of desperation. His eyes appeared to be panicking and when she muster her power to look on her stomach, a light came from beneath his palm.
"I shouldn't have left you," Taehyung's simple words voices every regret he had for leaving her alone. He had left and pushed Seulgi so he wouldn't bring harm to her but things that was bound to happen was fate that he couldn't suppress. "If I was beside you-"
Seulgi placed her hands that was stained with blood to his face, showing her a smile, "I am glad," she whispered, holding back her cry of pain as it appears to her eyes Taehyung was far hurt then her, "that it was all a lie."
Taehyung scrunched his brows, there were words on the back of his throat that he couldn't voice out. He shook his head and placed his other hand underneath Seulgi's cold one on his cheek. "I'm sorry."
"Don't be," Seulgi said and she shifted her body to feel a part of her consciousness begin to fade, "I feel a little sleepy, Taehyung. Can you speak more for me?"
Taehyung stared at Seulgi's features that felt weaker than before. Her smile had lost the zeal and he tried to heal her with his magic but he couldn't change the fact that he was a dark witch, and healing magic wasn't compatible with his lineage, causing it to be three times weaker than a white witch's magic.
"The moon that we saw a few nights ago, it was beautiful," Taehyung started, causing a smile on Seulgi's face.
"It is," she agreed, "But I was hurt by your words. I know that you don't mean them that you were trying to make me stay away from you. I didn't understand what you were trying to do, but now I do. You were protecting me from harm."
"It was all for nothing," Taehyung replied, looking at her wound that didn't close and the amount of blood that continue to leave her body. "I shouldn't have kept you away if I know it would only bring you danger."
Seulgi looked up at him, despite her pain and earlier heartache, she showed him a smile filled with joy over his confession, "Seems like you finally understand that I am only one in a million, a one in a kind. You will never find someone like me who is pretty, kind, and gentle. Also, someone who loves you this much," she joked, trying to laugh which instead added another worry line on Taehyung's forehead.
"I'm sorry," he said, his eyes turning from her stomach to meet her eyes.
"You are not at fault. I might have slipped up," Seulgi replied, she kept a smile on her lips and joke, trying to be strong that only broke Taehyung's heart further.
He shook his head, "I was coward and because of my cowardice, I only hurt you."
"I told you, being coward is find. Sometimes there are times when one need to run, and running away isn't always a defeat," Seulgi traced his face with her finger, "Tell me, Taehyung before I leave."
"You will not leave," Taehung assured, holding her hand, his eyes that stared back at her held a fierceness as he didn't want her to leave.
Seulgi shook her head, she knew her body better than anyone, and she could feel how her consciousness continue to slip away to the darkness. "That day, if you were born in a normal circumstances, would you accept my confession?"
Taehyung squeezed her hand and he nodded his head while closing his eyes, "I will. Don't worry, I will close your wounds soon, so stay with me."
Seoyeon didn't reply. She stared at Taehyung, who like her, knew that she wasn't going to last more than another couple of minutes. Taein had pierced her stomach in her most vital part that nothing they do would help her now. The only reason why Seulgi was still alive was the magic that Taehyung used to stop the bleeding but soon even the effect would fade.
"I feel cold," Seulgi said, watching how tears falling from the corner of Taehyung's eyes that glide to her fingertips, turning her cold skin warm. "Hold me closer, Taehyung."
Taehyung did what she requested, pulling her closer to his embrace, and let Seulgi to snuggle near his chest. He didn't want to lose her and the thought kept occupying his mind, but he knew there was nothing he could do now. At times like these, old wounds reopen, the death he had to suffered due to his brother's actions. It was then when he heard Seulgi's voice again, the voice that's always filled with enthusiasm now turn fragile and wan.
"How does the moon look like now?" came Seulgi's voice that went weaker than before. If Taehyung wasn't beside her, he would have a difficulty to hear her words.
"It is beautiful," answered Taehyung, after looking at the moonless and starless sky, giving a white lie to the girl whose body was tattered with blood. "Tomorrow the moon would also be beautiful. I heard that there are a phenomenon called the silver moon where the moon would become larger than before."
"I see," Seulgi whispered, "I would like to see that with you."
"You will, that's why you just need to hold on for another few minutes and-" Taehyung felt Seulgi's fingertips leaving the side of his face as she loses her energy and he closed his eyes, disregarding the weak pulse and continue to speak, "Even if we are not able to see the moon again tomorrow, we will have a chance to see it again, I promise."
"I promise..." Taehyung continue whispere when Seulgi's heartbeat had stopped. Tears rolled from his eyes, falling from chin to settle on Seulgi's closed eyes before it slide and fell away to the cold floor.
"Promise," he said again for the last time before letting her hands to settle on her stomach. He stared at Seulgi who didn't move again. It was just this afternoon when he saw the girl laughing from the window when meeting a nurse. Her smile had always been soft and lovely, reflecting the kindness from the depth of her heart. Even now when she had died, there was still a faint smile on her lips as if she didn't want any others who saw her felt sad upon seeing her for the last time.
That kindness of hers, saved him and also break his heart.
Taehyung took her cold body closer to his embrace, whispering, "I love you." Before carrying his body on his arm and placed her on the warm bed. He then looked at the person whose face was similar to his.
"I've been waiting," Taein said, a wide smile on his lips as he watched Taehyung's eyes reddened from tears that he shed.
