Leave The Monster Alone

Chapter 192 - The Human Will - 3

And he was rambling which was not good because he was following something and his feet were moving. so this space and memories could not be read at all. The system was trying to overwhelm him to follow the same path as last time which was not possible. He was not a puppet.

But it was all in his head and the system file. No matter how much he saw those images, they would not happen this time around and Mark would personally ensure that it did not happen. He would kill those monsters this time around. That was the only option left to him now which did not end up with telling the other side about his existence.

"It is getting away" Luna called out, already running faster than before. Had Mark been anyone else, he might have warned the other against following him but he was far from a normal person. He believe that the others needed his experience.

"We cannot allow this to happen. Kid, this is kind of your dream so you will need to provide me with a gun" Mark caught up to the teen in an instant and felt his body betray. The pain he felt in his calves was one he had not felt for a long time.

It looked as if his divine core filled body could not keep up with the healing demand and stamina need so soon. He would have to do better than this to keep up with this world after all.

"My dream? But this feels so real" Mark could understand the doubt. He had not believed this all to be real at a time as well. He had learned since then but there were times he still got overwhelmed by it all. The kid was in a similar enough spot.

"My will. How do I make it appear?" Mark had no answer for him but he knew that the kid would get it seen enough. When he heard the trump 'I did it.', he knew his confidence was not wasted on the teen at all. The other was good at what he did.

"Here you go" the other passed a pair of guns to Mark which were standard enough to not stand out at all and yet held a really good sense of balance and power. Mark was proud and he knew it was all thanks to the training the kid had been doing.

The best thing about this far back would be the knowledge that these monsters could be taken down by a single shot. They had not evolved that far off to need special attention being paid to them yet. Plus, they had another plus point during this phase.

Mark fired off a shot and saw one of the monsters go down in a single shot. He was surprised himself that he had been able to shoot this constantly in this body. His arm had become heavy on firing that shot but he had felt really good on finally shooting one of the monsters down.

"This is some good shot. You been taking tips from anyone?" Mark had to wonder at the quality of the product in his hand. It was likely based on a real weapon Luna had been made to use at one point or another. Once again, his decision to bring Luna with him initially turned out to be correct.

"Hey, pay attention to our targets. You are letting one of them escape" Mark took an aim at the monster as well but then stopped short and turned toward the teen. He extended the gun for the teen to take who hesitated. Behind him, the monster continued to get away.

"You can either shoot it down or we all get fucked over" Since this dream had not yet ended, Mark could only summarise that it had not been him who was supposed to take care of that monster. Luna would have to be the one to take the monster down.

"I'm not sure I can do this" the teen suddenly seemed to have cold feet. He had followed Mark this far out but now he seemed like he wanted to escape. Too bad for him, Mark could not allow him to step out of his protection just yet.

"You have to shoot. You are the only one who could shoot here. Look" Mark tried to shoot the gun but nothing happened. His psychological play worked and the other had been convinced that he was the only one who could make things right.

This had been a gamble Mark took and it seemed to have worked out well for him. The other finally took the gun but his hands were shaking. The monster had not yet managed to escape out of their shooting range, a result of Luna's imagination not allowing it to escape.

"Now shoot" the kid closed his eyes as he shot. His shot managed to land on the monster despite all the shaking his limbs were doing and the monster finally disappeared into a cloud of dust. Mark watched as the energy shifted in the place.

The place surged with power and the quake that hit the palace had been expected. They had changed a major setting for this palace after all. What it would bring for the world was not clear but they had taken the first step toward a better future at least.

"We should get out now" Mark took Luna's wrist in his hand and pulled him up. The world had started to spin dangerously and they needed to get out right now. The other righted himself as well and he pulled the teen up.

"Do you have a way to get out of here?" the teen asked and for the first time, Mark had a way out of the situation pretty fast. He allowed his core to spin inside him and felt its heat travel up his spine. Energy filled him up and he allowed it to consume it.

The space in front of the pair got cleaved in half and Mark dragged the teen behind him outside the space. The dream dissolved behind the pair but they did not pay attention to it. Their attention was diverted to the sea in front of them, the blue clashing with the soft white of the background. It was a beautiful space and one Mark knew intimately well.

"Have you come to visit me? And brought a friend along as well" Alex wasted no time in greeting them. His voice was soft and melodic, his attention snapping to Luan who was still recovering. Mark gave him a small nod of acknowledgement but did not think to say anything else regarding this situation.

"I think we managed to change the past. How are you feeling Luna?" Mark asked and he saw something shift in those eyes. Thye looked as if they had aged considerably.

"The next time you tried to play this game I will end you. Can you not behave normally for once?" gone was the shy and unsure demeanour of the teen. The Luna he had known this far was back in his life once again. Well, who would have thought that this would happen once again?

"Welcome back. Mind letting our friend go?" the teen growled but he did let go. Mark took in a deep breath, realising that the situation had changed considerably. They had so many more options available to them with Luna being back. This also opened other possibilities of having allies before the whole thing began for real.

"What should our next step of action be?" Mark asked, handing command back over to Luna who was much more adapted at these kinds of things. However, this time even the teen seemed a little odd. He looked back at Mark instead of taking command of this situation.

"You should be the one to decide what we should do next. You are the one who knows about this situation the most after all" hey, they could not just dump it all on Mark like this. He had not been prepared for this kind of situation at all. What if he messed things up at this point?

But he pushed it all off as he concentrated on the situation. The other two had already decided on him being the leader so there was nothing he could do about this situation without offending them as well. Mark had no confidence in himself but he had to pretend as if he had that.

"We shall start by gathering everyone else in our team. First of all, Alan since he could be in danger. Luna, do you know where he might be?" Mark turned toward the yougest who nodded.. His eyes suddenly looked thankful and it was clear that he had forgotten about his brother as well.
