Legendary Shadow

After having an epic battle with Eusine, Liam went to hang out with Gina and Whitney. Knowing that he had a gym battle the next day, he decided to call it quits early. The next day, Liam headed to the gym. When he reached there, he noticed that the gym was very eerie, and it had a ghostly vibe to it. When he went inside, it was dark and had a ghastly feel to it. After going through some obstacles, he finally arrived in front of Morty who introduced himself as they started the battle right away. 

The night before, Eusine went and told Morty about Liam and told him that he had lost to Liam. This shocked Morty because he knew that Euisne was extremely strong, especially his Drowzee and he himself hadn't been able to beat him after years of facing him. Eusine laughed as he said, "You got quite the battle ahead of you because I know he's going to come here sooner or later." This cause Morty to shrug and he said, "Well, I'll be here. I'm a gym leader after all." They talked a little bit before Eusine left. 

Morty was thinking about what he said and couldn't wait to battle Liam, so when Liam finally appeared before him, he got excited but didn't show it on his face. He nonchalantly summoned his Gastly and Hunter. Liam didn't feel like playing around with him, so he got straight to the point and summoned this Eevee.

When Morty saw Eevee, he was surprised as he knew that Eevee's didn't have a ghost form. Still, the one in front of him seemed to be a ghost-type Eevee. He got excited as he asked Liam how he did it. Liam told him that he didn't know and that it probably had something to do with the ghost tower in Kanto and an egg being there. Morty thought about it in said, "Wow that is such a revelation. Maybe I should start taking eggs into ghostly places." 

Liam shook his head and thought that it would probably be impossible, but he could give it a try. Liam harrumphed as he said, "Can we start this battle now?" causing Morty to come back as he asked, "Where is your second Pokémon?" Liam shook his head and said he doesn't need one as the battle commenced. As soon as the battle started, it ended. Eevee had defeated Gastly and Haunter within a second after getting the commands from Liam to not play around and just finish it quickly. 

Morty was surprised by the strength of Eevee as he returned both of his Pokémon and brought out his Gengar who was sitting at level 80 and he said, "This is one of my strongest Pokémon." Liam nodded and said okay and bring it on. The battle started as Gengar used shadow ball right off the bat. Eevee returned with her own shadow ball as they both canceled each other. But then, it had become a shadow battle as they both disappeared and tried to sneak attack each other.

Gengar used shadow claw which Eevee dodged. She came out of the shadow and used a shadow ball which Gengar dodged as well. 

Just when he was about to launch another attack, Gengar started to glow as Morty quietly told Gengar to use shadow realm, where dreams become a reality. Eevee was pulled into a different reality. This reminded Liam of Agatha's Gengars attack and he said, "Oh, you're using that move, huh." Liam told Eevee to transform as she got a power boost from it. Her skin color started to change into a darker shade of green, and green lines started to appear around her body.

Liam had never seen these lines before, and he was surprised by this outcome. 

It seemed like she was starting to get used to the power of the forest and was slowly taking it in. When Gengar was about to strike, suddenly, Eevee disappeared from the arena and appeared behind Gengar. He didn't even sense that Eevee was behind him as he kept turning to look for her. Every time Gengar would turn, Eevee would turn along with him causing Gengar to feel a little frustrated as he felt like she was behind him. 

Eevee eventually got tired of playing games with him and unleashed a powerful shadow ball behind him which knocked Gengar out as Morty shouted his name for him to get back up. Gengar struggled to get back up before falling back down and fainting making Liam the winner and receiving the fog badge. Liam thanked Morty for the match. Morty was pretty sad after losing even though he used Gengar which most challengers weren't able to beat. He still lost but regardless, he still congratulated Liam on his success.
