Magic With You

Chapter 119 - 119: Sense Of Crisis

Calter's slaves immediately head back to their Magic Tower. Along the way, Number D1 contacted his master to inform him that they already captured a Knight assassin

Thus, Calter was forced to go on the Demon's Den to check that assassin. From the time that Number D1 told him what happened, he already had a bad feeling about it. But now, after capturing the assassin, Calter's senses were bothering him again

Arriving at his Magic Tower in the middle of the night, Calter directly head to the bottom level where the assassin would be imprisoned

As soon as the Knights and Grand Knights saw their master, they immediately bowed respectfully

"Wake him up!" Calter ordered and one of his slaves threw a bucket of cold water to the assassin

Soon enough, the assassin opened his eyes. Just like the first one that Number D1 captured, this one tried putting up a brave front despite the slight trembling on his body

"Speak or die! Tell us what you know about your organization" Calter asked coldly but the assassin just turned his head on the side not wanting to speak

"Break his leg!" Calter ordered and the man trembled even harder. On the assassin's perspective, Number D1 was like a demon that was inching towards him. The assassin broke out into cold sweat but still didn't say anything

To have faster results, Number D1 coated his palm with his mana and grabbed the assassin's leg. The poor assassin tried moving his leg but it was a futile attempt

Crack

"AAAHHHHH!!!!"

A cracking sound was heard before it was immediately followed by a loud scream. If one look at the assassin's leg, you will see that it was bent in an abnormal way

The man's body was soaked in sweat and his loud scream caused the Magic Beasts in other cages to roar at him

After some time, the assassin finally recovered a bit and stopped screaming but his chest was still moving aggressively

"Will you talk now or not?" Calter's cold voice entered the assassin's ears again but he still didn't open his mouth to talk

"I see, you have some tolerance. Do it with the other leg too" Calter's words are like a Demon's Decree that brought great fear to the assassin

However, for an unknown reason, the man still didn't dare to talk even after Number D1 hold his leg

As the assassin still didn't talk, he will have a harder time ahead of him

With another loud crack, his remaining leg was also broken. Just like before, the assassin utter a loud cry

"We can do this until every bone in your body broke. If I were you, I'll talk now as I'm still being a bit 'nice' here"

The assassin looked at Calter with a pale face. He cannot believe that someone this young could be so cruel. And why does the powerful mages that abducted him acted so respectfully towards this young man?

The assassination task was a bit suspicious but the assassin was blinded by money. And now, he'll suffer the consequences

"I-I can't say anything... l-let me go!" For the first time, the assassin talk but these words aren't something that Calter likes to hear

"Proceed, break his fingers one by one" Calter ordered. The manner he said it was as if his order was something so simple and not as cruel as breaking someone's bones one by one

"N-No! I told you, I-I cannot say anything!" Even if the Knight have some experience, he'll still break if he undergo such torture

How can it be easy to take the pain of your bones breaking? It was already amazing that the assassin managed to hold out until now. But if this goes on....

No matter how much the assassin pleaded, Calter's orders are absolute. Number D1 did as what he was told and really break the assassin's finger bones one by one

He did it with some interval, waiting for the time that the pain subsided a bit before continuing so that the assassin will feel the maximum amount of pain

"S-stop p-please!" After all of his finger bones were cracked, they are now all bent in an abnormal manner and he's feeling extreme pain

"Continue on his feet" Calter wasn't fazed and made another order again

"P-please stop! The o-organization is--" The man was just about to talk when curse marks spread from his forehead down to his body

Those marks have a high levelled power within them that caused everyone's face to pale

"Get away from him!" As Number D1 already experienced it, he knew what will happen and secured Calter's safety

Their party stood outside the cage far from the assassin and made protective barriers in front of them

After the assassin's whole body was covered by the curse marks, it glowed with a dark light before causing a powerful explosion

Just like the first Knight Assassin, the explosion caused by this one destroyed the cage and metal debris flew everywhere. If not for the mages making protective barriers, the metals from the cages might have cause an accident

Calter's face is very pale now. The curse marks that he saw before were imprinted on his mind. But that wasn't the thing that shocked Calter the most

It was the familiar power behind the curse marks that Calter further sensed when the energies inside it exploded

It was a power that he will never forget. "H-How can this be..." Calter can't believe it and he doesn't want to. Although he knew that even though he's a Grand Knight before, he's still a frog at the bottom of the well. But this discovery of his made him realize that he still underestimated how ignorant he is

That familiar power.... it was fearsome and pure... it was something that....

Calter shuddered at all the thoughts swirling on his mind. His already pale face turned even paler as fear spread on his body. Seems like the danger level isn't the same as he imagined it

"Stop messing with that organization for now. No one will make any move again. We are still too weak!" Calter said after some time

His slaves are not used at seeing him like this. Although witnessing this made them realize that the assassin organization isn't normal but for their master to act like this is suspicious

Calter wasn't even afraid of Fiery City before not to mention that he have more Grand Knights than before now

"Remember, don't antagonize them again! We are like ants in front of them!" Calter warned before heading on the upper level of the tower to train

His discovery today made is so that he can't slack off and he needs to raise his own power as soon as possible

Calter entered a room and activated the formation on it. The room was suddenly filled with darkness as the dark type mana in the room increased

The man closed his eyes and sat in the middle of it. Although Calter is agitated from what he discovered, he can't let it affect him negatively

The young master pushed away all the negative thoughts and focused on his cultivation. The rich mana in the room was drawn towards his body and from his hand, Dungeon Cores appeared that he used his own core to absorb

Calter didn't absorbed any Dungeon Cores again before as long as his level still didn't rise. The risk in absorbing Dungeon Cores made it so that Calter didn't tried it again

If he died, Kence will be left here and he doesn't want that to happen. However, the happenings tonight made it so that he decided that he needed to risk it

The dungeon core dissipated into specks of light and Calter's soul was assaulted by the will inside it. While his body on the other hand is assaulted by the mana from the core

Calter's drive to become strong was raised too much and the will inside the core becomes too weak in front of his. Calter's own willpower was aroused and fought back ferociously

The youth's body was trembling and inside his spirit sea, his soul was also in the same state but he doesn't care. Withstanding the soul attack from the Dungeon Core will improve his soul which will have a direct effect on his cultivation

Before, Calter's soul was being overpowered by the will on the core. But this time, things are different

Instead of being in the passive defensive state, Calter becomes the attacker and aggressively destroyed the foreign invaders

Absorbing one dungeon core is not enough for Calter who greatly thirst for power and he didn't stopped

Another Dungeon Core was absorbed by him. One must know that devouring and absorbing cores are different

Devouring is like 'eating' where you will digest the cores slowly. But the humans don't actually digests all the nutrients on the food and there are some that will be wastes

As for absorbing, it was like you integrated the dungeon core itself on you. In some sense, it was like you gained a new body part

Calter's own core grew in size and the dark ball inside it also becomes bigger

The second core is still not enough. Before, just absorbing one will already exhaust Calter but this time, his soul was still as powerful and vigorous as before

This was all because of willpower! People have a specific strength of willpower at normal times. However, if it was aroused greatly, then logic cannot be used to judge it anymore. It can lower or become higher depending on the person

Thus, without Calter noticing it, he actually absorbed five Dungeon Cores that night

Not just that, Calter also felt some sort of barrier inside him broke and the surrounding mana gushed inside his body

Calter didn't let this chance slip and absorbed as much mana as he can on his body for his breakthrough

It wasn't that long before Calter become a Level 8 Magic Apprentice but he now broke through to the next level!

He's now a Level 9 Magic Apprentice. If he broke through again and become a Magic Warrior, he'll be able to do more things

Magic Apprentices are like students while Magic Warrior is a professional worker. Calter would be able to do a lot more if he become a worker. And with his rate of improvement, it wouldn't be long before that happens!

Calter opened his eyes and a dark light flashed with it. He looked at the wall clock on the cultivation room and saw that it was already morning

He stood up and stretched his body first before deciding to go back with Kence. The youth is still not fully healed and Calter wants to support him but... for now, he can't

Calter needs to prioritize Kence's well-being and to do that, he needs to raise his power. He wants to put more time on his cultivation until he at least become a Magic Warrior

For that, Calter needs to inform Kence first that he'll have lesser time for the latter. Calter doesn't know why but his own core was pushing him to become a Magic Warrior

The core of course didn't talked directly but it gave Calter the feeling that something will happen if he broke through. Calter sensed that it was both good and bad

He might know the drawback for this overpowered magic path if he broke through to become a Magic Warrior

Calter took a deep breath first and exited the training room and ordered someone to prepare a carriage for him

As Calter is actually too weak compared to his slaves, the others sensed that he is already a Level 9 Magic Apprentice and they were shock

Calter's advancement speed isn't that special as Magic Apprentices can be a Magic Warrior in under a year. But Calter won't cultivate like those people!

The young master have a very sturdy foundation and the power he can unleash can shock both Gods and Demons

Thus, they are really surprise that their master levelled up this fast. Without Calter knowing, his advancement became some sort of a catalyst and his slaves strive harder on their cultivation

The oath affected their minds and become loyal to Calter after some time. Loyal in the way that they really think of Calter as the most important person on their life

And seeing their master working hard like this to raise his strength made the others to want to cultivate even harde
