Magic With You

As soon as Calter was back at the City Lord's Magic Tower, he headed to his and Kence's room. However, he frowned as he didn't saw anyone there

Calter went to check the bathroom and knocked on the door but no one answered him. Without a choice, Calter exited the room and asked the servants to where Kence is

Fortunately, Kence informed the servants where he was going in case Calter will find him. Calter learned that the youth went to the Sternix Clan

Calter sigh and arranged for the servants to prepare a carriage for him again. Now that he thinks of it, it is already a long time the last time he returned to the Sternix Clan

It was mostly Narry and Emily visiting him and Kence, not the other way around

After reaching the Sternix Clan, the guards didn't dare block the way of their own young master. Calter doesn't want to lose time and asked the servants to where Kence is

After knowing where his beloved is, Calter walked towards the open area where he and Kence mostly trained before. Along the way, he saw how things are very different now

The declining Sternix Clan is now a flourishing one. Although they don't have a Marquees Clan Title and their own blood members are still weak, but no one in the city will dare to offend them

The buildings become more numerous now and the place was very extravagant with all sorts of display

However, Calter ignored them and soon reached his destination. Calter finally saw Kence but the latter's current state made him to crease his forehead

Kence is currently sitting in a wooden board. But that board was placed in a very thin piece of ground. That piece of ground was about one meter tall and below it was soft cottons

The youth's eyes are currently closed and was full of seriousness with sweat rolling down his whole body because of the warmth from the sun. The wooden board below Kence is wobbling as if it will fall along with the youth any time from now

There are five Magic Knights not far from Kence acting as guards. Emily was also close to Kence and she saw her son walking towards her

"Oh, you're here?" Emily said a bit displeased. Her son actually decided to visit his own clan. But from the looks of it, Calter is here for only one reason. And that is of course, Kence!

"What is he doing?" Calter asked in confusion which caused Emily to roll her eyes. Sure enough, her son is only here because of Kence and didn't even bother hiding that fact

"I'm training him" Emily simple answered and Calter looked at her doubtfully. Calter can't even feel any bit of cultivation from Emily and even if she did cultivate, he doesn't even know what level is she at

Plus, if it was training, then wouldn't it be better to have Kence train with the City Lord? What kind of help can his mother give to Kence?

Seeing the doubtful look on her son irritated Emily. If only her son wasn't like this, she would surely punch Calter on the head. But if course, although the crack on their relationship was patched, but they are still not that intimate of a family. In fact, it was Kence that became the patch of that crack

"Don't look down on your mother! I also have things that I can teach to a mage!" Emily said while rolling her eyes but this just made Calter to look at her with even more suspicion

"Like?" Calter asked and Emily exhaled an exasperated breath before speaking

"Like how to make the mana like you! Most mages will forcefully absorb mana making the resistance higher and more soul power will be needed"

"But if you make the mana to like you, that resistance will lessen. With that, less soul power is needed to absorb the same amount of mana you can absorb before" Emily simply answered

Making the mana to like you is extremely hard. It required a lot of training on one's mentality and aura

However, Emily looked at Kence like the youth is a monster

Emily wants to train Kence's mentality so that the youth will recover from all the guilt he has for killing people. But... Kence still doesn't reach the state of a calm mind but he can already do what Emily did at the pond before!

If one didn't focus on it, they won't realize it. But the mana is actually very fond of Kence!

Now, Emily knew the reason why Kence have fast cultivation speed. It was because of the resistance he faced when absorbing mana!

If others knew this, they would really be jealous. It was a talent that is naturally love by mana! His future would surely be limitless

Thus, the training of not letting the water ripples hit one's body was changed by Emily. After all, the most important thing is to train Kence's mentality so that the youth will recover. Him being loved by mana like that won't achieve any result. Thus, this time, Kence needs to balance himself!

An empty and calm mind will produce a calm body. As long as Kence don't fall, it means he have a stable mind. It would assist him in breaking free from the cocoon of guilt

But this training was harder than the water ripple training! Not many people can achieve this. But Emily still believe that Kence will succeed

Also, knowing Calter, Emily can't let Kence have even a single scratch. That explains the cotton below and even the ground isn't raised too high by an earth mage

Hearing his mother's explanation, Calter nodded his head. He naturally knew of this as he's a former Grand Knight

However, Calter have a different perspective. Training to make the mana like you should depend on what personality a person has

If a person has a domineering attitude, that will also reflect on their spells. Then you'll force that domineering mage to act so gently, isn't that the same as changing that mage's attitude?

One's mentality is also important in cultivation. Just like the Nobles, their goals are mostly to become a Magic Knight and they are limiting their selves on that

There are the slightly better ones that will set a Grand Knight as their goal, but when reality hits them, they would start to think that reaching that stage is hard. Thus, lowering their chances for breakthrough

Denma's mentality of wanting to reach the highest heights is one of the reasons why Calter is keen on having Denma as his subordinates

Denma strive to reach the real peak and don't even care if he's under the oath from the God of Order. For Denma, as long as he continues to improve, there would come a day that he will be able to break free from this shackle

"Why act so uninterested, don't want me to teach you?" Emily said in dissatisfaction. She thought that Calter will be eager to train like Kence

But reality is different, there wasn't even a ripple on Calter's eyes as if he doesn't care at all

Knowing Calter, isn't he someone that strive to become strong? How come he is uninterested?

As his reply, Calter sneered. "It'd be a shame if I were to be taught by someone weaker than me"

Although Emily's knowledge is 'quite good' but knowledge is just knowledge. If you can't apply it on reality, it is nothing

Calter thought that maybe Emily is a talent before then had some accidents and in return, lose all of her cultivation

"You damn kid!" Emily cursed and gritted her teeth while looking at Calter. To be look down by other people is okay but for her own son to do that? He'll make sure that this Calter will learn his lesson!

"Hmph, you don't know what you are talking. I admit that you are talented but you are still a hatchling in front of your mother!" Emily said through gritted teeth and Calter just smirked at him

"Then why don't we try it?" Although Calter thinks that his mother doesn't have any cultivation but he is still curious about the other possibilities

Why is it that he never heard of anyone talking about his mother's cultivation? He's quite curious about it

"Heh... to challenge your own mother, you've got some guts!"

"Why? Scared?" Calter taunted causing Emily to narrow her eyes "Game on!"

The two jumped back and put some distance with each other. However, before they start, Emily turned to look at the Magic Knights around

"Make a magic barrier. Make sure that no magic fluctuations will exit here" Emily ordered. Although the Knights and Calter were puzzled but they still did as what they were told

The Knights pointed their hands below and a transparent dome was made. This was actually kind of common if the fighting mages doesn't want the damage to spread on a huge area

But... generally, only powerful mages will have someone do this

Sensing the magic fluctuations from the Knights, Kence was distracted and opened his eyes. Because of the distraction, the youth lose focus and the wobbling wooden board fell and brought him with it

Kence's fell head first and Calter saw this on his peripheral vision. As Calter is always being overprotective of Kence, although he knew that there were cotton below, he's still worried about Kence

However, seeing Kence's state, Calter can't stop himself from gulping hard. Kence fell on the cotton face first with his butt sticking in the air

Calter's throat felt dry as he wants to have a taste of those cute and soft little buns

Emily naturally saw this and since he wants his son to be always 'punished' by Kence on the bed by being the bottom, he won't let his son be the top!

Kence needs to always be the top while Calter needs to be the bottom!

"You pervert! Don't look at Kence's butt!" Emily shouted loud enough for Kence to hear

Kence's body flinched and he immediately hid his butt while looking at Calter with some grievances on his eyes. "B-Big Brother h-how can you act perverted in front of mother!" Emily's 'brainwashing' come into fruition as Kence scolded Calter

Calter issued a cough and glared at the Knights around trying to stop themselves from laughing before looking at Kence. "I-I'm not peeking!" Calter bluffed but Kence won't buy it as the former was labelled as a pervert again on the latter's mind

Seeing this, Calter gritted his teeth and turn to look at Emily that has a victorious smile on her face. "This woman!" Calter will make sure to defeat Emily in a humiliating manner as a payback for his own humiliation!

"Prepare to lose!!" Calter rage and retrieved his magic wand from his spatial ring. As this is a duel he cannot afford to 'lose' Calter even used the wand that Emily gave to him

"Hmph! Don't think that you'll defeat your mother today! You're still years too early for that!" After saying this, Emily hid her hands on her clothes and the chain tattoo appeared once more. Her body was covered by the chains but it was hidden by her clothes

Just like what she did back at the pond, one of the chains broke and vanished

Calter was shocked that for the first time on his life, he sensed some mana on his mother. Not just that, but to his surprise, he also can't sense what level Emily is at

Looking at the Magic Knights around, Calter saw that they creased their foreheads too. It was very possible that even them can't judge Emily's level

But that should only be possible if Emily have some treasures on her or she's a Grand Knight. But if she really is a Grand Knight, why would the Sternix Clan be in decline?

With just her, the Sternix Clan's position would almost be on par with the City Lord. Also, the mana that Calter can sense is too little for a Grand Knight. Thus, Calter thinks that maybe his mother has a treasure to hide one's level. That is the most plausible explanation

However, Calter still look at Emily with suspicion. There are other possibilities that even he might not know and he won't easily throw that away

"Make sure that no magic fluctuations will exit here!" Emily warned at the Knights again and they immediately nodded their heads

"Now, prepare to lose to mother!" Emily said and that signaled the start of their duel
