Magic With You

Chapter 14 - 14

"[Dark Magic: Darkness Ball]" in just a split second a small black acid ball was made from the tip of Calter's wand. This was the Level 1 Spell comparable to a Level 3 Spell. Although he can form five at a time but he didn't do so. That feat would be too shocking. Besides, he only needs some time before the city guards will notice the abnormal mana fluctuations brought by magic battles

The darkness ball didn't fight the flaming claw head on, it only has the power of a Level 3 Spell and the Level 5 Spells were much more powerful than it. Level 2 Spell would be two times more powerful than level 1 Spells. Level 3 Spells would also be at least two times more powerful than the Level 2 Spells and this goes on until Level 9 Magic Spells. The higher the level the more the difference will rise

Calter controlled the ball to fly to the side of the flaming claw and controlled the mana inside the spell to explode. The explosion wasn't that powerful and not enough to used up all the mana of a Level 5 Spell but it altered the Spell's direction

The Magician that ambushed Calter thought that as the youth just finished making a protective barrier around Kence, he wouldn't be able to defend himself thus let go of his control on his spell and it only flew in a straight line. Even if he doesn't, it requires great spell control to control the trajectory of one's spell. Not all Magic Apprentice can do it and the ambusher might not have the ability

A Magic Apprentice that can control the trajectory of his Spell can fight Magicians above his level. Most of the time a weak Spell was all it takes to defend yourself from a high-level spell.

The claw of fire only hit an empty air causing the ambusher to be shock. The ambusher was ten meters away from Calter and was wearing an all-black robe that covered his whole body and face. On his hand was a low-quality red Magic Wand that was shaking from shock. One look was enough to determine that the Magician was inexperienced. Those who have experience unless their strength was overwhelmingly powerful, they won't dare assassinate someone in broad daylight

Many people were around and the patrolling city guards will arrive on the scene shortly. He should have waited for the chance where there were almost no people before making a move

Calter didn't gave the ambusher a chance to come back on his senses and activated another spell. "[Dark Summon Magic: Skeleton Warrior!]"

Calter pointed his wand on the ground and a few meters summoning circle appeared. From the summoning circle, three Skeleton Warriors appeared with dark flames inside their eye sockets while holding a rusty sword

The skeleton warriors immediately charged at the Magician who became flustered. Calter's spell casting speed was faster than even the level 5 Magic Apprentice

"[F-Fire Magic: Flame Arc!]" The Magician said in panic and a one-meter crescent shape flame was shot from his wand. It flew on one of the skeletons and hit it on the chest. Although it destroyed the skeleton warrior's bones but it wasn't completely dead as its head was not destroyed

In reality the ambusher doesn't need to activate a Level 3 Spell, a simple low-level Spell like Fireball or fire bullet was enough as long as it was aimed at the skull. Skeleton Warriors like what Calter summoned was after all only cannon fodders. Their use was only to stall some time so that the summoner can activate a high-level Spell

The other two skeleton warriors continued their charge and pointed their rusty swords towards the ambusher. This caused the inexperienced Magician to panic even more

"[F-Fire Magic: Flame Arc!]" The same spell was shot out and disabled another skeleton warrior but the last skeleton finally reached the ambusher

The Magician's trembling hands used the wand on his hand to block the skeleton's sword attack. Fortunately, the durability of wands was better than a rusty sword

"[Dark Magic: Paralysis Curse!]" A purple dark flashed of light was shot out from Calter's wand and hit the ambusher's body. Calter deliberately lower the power of all of his spells when fighting. If not, then a Level 3 Spell can have the power of a Level 5 Spell as long as he made a Magic Mark of it

Him being a core Magician in a pleasant surprise actually made his Spells two levels more powerful as long as he had a Magic Mark of it. After he made Magic Marks his core would transform and make the Marks even more mysterious and powerful making the spells much more powerful than before

As the ambusher was a Level 5 Magician his spell resistance was higher but even then, a curse type Magic was not something easy to get rid of. Sure enough, he felt all the power on his body draining and he can't even hold his wand properly

Calter sent a mental command on the Skeleton Warrior and it pointed the rusty sword on its hand on the Magician's neck. He only needs the same two spells he used to defeat a Level 2 Magician to defeat a Level 5 one. This battle skill was too shocking

Calter doesn't want too much trouble, if he wants, he can directly kill the ambusher and just show the badge that the old man gave to him and everything would be settled immediately. But it would reveal that he has such a backing and will arouse more attention to himself

Whether it be him returning to the past or to what kind of Magician he is, both of it should be a secret as long as he still doesn't have much power yet

As he already defeated the ambusher, he removed Kence's protective barrier and the youth immediately went to check his condition

"Big Brother what happened?" Kence asked worriedly as he saw the skeleton warrior pointing its sword on someone

Calter was not able to answer as at this time a group of guards finally reached the scene. The people around just watch quietly. They don't want to involve their selves in other people's conflict. After all, who knows what kind of power one has on his back? If they sided on the weaker party that would be disastrous

There was a total of ten guards that arrive. The weakest were Level 7 Magic Apprentices with the stronger Level 8 and 9 Magic Apprentices and the strongest was a middle age man that was above the Magic Apprentice Rank

He was a Magic Warrior!

Most of the civilians and normal people only reached the peak of Magic Apprentice and only those with some talent can break through into the next Rank. The other guards were standing at the back of the guard captain respectfully as they greatly feared the captain

The captain was not someone easy to get along with, he was a person with attitude issues and became easily jealous. The more talented you are the more he will make things hard for you. This cause the young guards that showed magic talent to not have a good life. The more talented you are the more the captain will make your life like a living hell

The captain after reaching the Magic Warrior Rank was filled with confidence and pride as most people were stuck at the peak of Magic Apprentice their whole lives. He thought that he was someone talented and exceptional after becoming a Magic Warrior and dreamed that he would become a powerful figure in the world

But reality slapped him and even after all these years he still hasn't had even a single break through. Stuck at the lowest level of Magic Warrior. He thought that Magic Warriors are something and powerful but to the powerful Clan and organizations he can only be considered as a normal person. This twisted his personality a lot

"What happened here?!" The captain shouted angrily while looking at Calter and the pitiful ambusher that was easily defeated by his target

"He ambushed me in broad daylight, he should be thrown to prison for eternity" Calter said coldly as he doesn't like someone threatening his life. That feeling will easily made anyone angry much less Calter

The guard sensed that Calter's aura was around a level 3 Magician as the youth didn't concealed it. The ambusher on the other hand was a Level 5 Magician under the influence of a Magic and was unable to move

A level 3 Magician defeating a Level 5 one, only monstrous genius can do that. This immediately filled the guard with jealousy and became hostile

"Are you sure that he's the one that attack you? How can a Level 3 Magic Apprentice defeat a Level 5 Magician? Could it be you use your weaker cultivation base so that this poor Magician will let down his guard and you are the one that ambushed him?"

The captain accused even though he knew Calter came from a Noble Clan. He knew of Calter's Clan and they are on the brink of being strip of their Nobility Title. As the guards are directly under the City Lord their position was quite high

Even Nobility Clans would form good relationships with them as to help expand their business. All Noble Clans had dirty dealings and if a guard found out about it the guards can report that to the City Lord. That's why the weaker Nobility Clans won't easily offend city guards

Only those powerful Clans and organizations that has power close to the City Lord's power will not put the guards on their eyes

"Are you saying that I'm the one at fault here?" Calter frowned at this guard. He didn't even investigate one bit at the incident and already accused Calter of being at fault here. The hostility and bias were clear for everyone to see

If the captain asked the people around, he would know that it was not Calter that attack first

"I don't believe that you can defeat a Level 5 Magician that ambushed you. It was almost clear that you took advantage of your lower cultivation base and ambushed a Magician powerful than you" the captain said coldly. He didn't like talented geniuses and offending Calter's Clan was not something he was afraid of

There weren't that many Nobility Clans in the entire city and the fall and rise of one would attract a lot of attention. From Calter's clothes that has the insignia of his Clan the captain knew that he's a descendant of the declining Sternix Clan so he wasn't worried about offending them

"Sir, my Master didn't do anything wrong!" Kence immediately said as his master was being wrongly accused. He didn't saw anything as the barrier obstructed his vision because Calter didn't want him to see a bloody scene if ever he doesn't have a choice but to kill. Fortunately, the assassin was too weak and can't even make a scratch on him. Even then, he won't believe that it was his master that attack first.

"Shut up! Did I give you a permission to speak?!" The captain roared which made Kence to flinch. This immediately made Calter's expression to turn dark. First it was Kalli who insulted Kence but now a mere city guard shouted at his lover like this. How can he be not angry? If he has the power, he would surely kill this guard. It's just too bad that even if he went all out, he can't defeat a Magic Warrior

Even the difference between a peak Magic Apprentice to the weakest Magic Warrior was too much and the Apprentice doesn't stand a chance at all

"Scram now or you'll have bad ending" Calter said in a voice filled with authority. This kind of authoritative voice was only present at people that stood at the top, no one can mimic something like this

It made the captain to be taken aback as even he felt some fear but this only made him angrier. He's a powerful Magic Warrior how can he be afraid of a Magic Apprentice? If others heard this, he would become a laughingstock

"Don't think that because you came from a 'Nobility Clan' you can do everything you want!" The captain said emphasizing the words 'Nobility Clan'

Everyone knows that it wasn't too long before the Sternix Clan lose their status of Nobility
