"Please use it, I have more!" Kence replied to his guard honestly. Otto is still the King's brother and part of the Royal Family, he can afford to buy quite a lot of Rank 3 Runes

Kence even felt that it was a pity as the only Rank 3 Runes that he has are defensive ones. Even if he has an offensive one, it still required the mage to control the power inside the rune

Magic Warrior's soul cannot take the burden of wielding such power and those runes cannot be used by Kence

The guard still has an unsure look on his face though. Kence might be 'rich' but the guard isn't. He can't afford something as expensive as the rune on his hand

Seeing this, Kence tried convincing his guard again. "If you die, I will die too! Please use the rune!" Kence shouted and the guard cannot answer as the snow golem already reached him

The snow golem threw another punch and the guard jumped back to dodge. However, the guard saw that the golem opened its mouth and let out a snowy air

The guard gritted his teeth and activated the rune on his hand. In less than a second, the rune used its power and covered the entirety of the guard's body with a barrier

The snow breath slammed on that barrier causing the man to be thrown in the air. Thankfully, the defensive rune was able to protect the guard and he didn't sustain any additional injury

After landing on the soft ground, the guard used the chance and immediately used another spell

"[Snow Magic: Snowy Fist!]" The guard made a rising motion with his hand and the snow on the golem's side rose to form two, two meters fist

The golem used its own fist to block the guard's spell but the man's attack didn't end there. "[Snow Magic: Snow's Fury!]"

This time, all the surrounding snow around, surrounded the golem and wreak havoc on its body. The guard uses more mana and more snow attacked the golem

Pieces of the golem's body fell on the ground and it visibly thinned the more time that passed. But the guard is also not in a good condition as controlling this much snow drained both his soul and mana reserves

Grand Knights might have more mana than lower rank mages but their spells are stronger too and required more mana!

The color on the guard's face visibly drained and become pale. Kence who was watching him from afar became nervous and wished that his guard will win

Kence knew that if the guard failed, both of them will die. Kence doesn't want to die as that will surely make his adoptive father sad

Seconds passed and the snow around continued assaulting the golem before a beam of light suddenly appeared and was approaching the guard's position

When the guard sensed this attack, he can only stop his spell and conjured a hastily made snow barrier to protect himself. Unfortunately, this barrier's power is weaker than his previous barriers and he wasn't able to fully block the attack

The guard tried his best to dodge but the beam still hit him on the shoulder causing it to bleed furiously. Blood dyed the soft white snow below and the situation of the two turned worst

When they looked at the source of the attack, the two saw another Snow Golem. Just one Snow Golem was already pushing the guard to his limit, what more if another one appeared?

Realizing this, the guard turned to look at the Young Master he needed to protect. "Young Master, I'll hold them here please leave first!" The guard said desperately

"W-what about you?" Kence asked tearfully. He didn't know that him, wanting to go to this place would have this consequence. If Kence knew that this would be the outcome, he would completely ignore the nagging feeling he had for the past days

The guard has some understanding towards Kence and his mind worked furiously to have an answer and waved his hand so that the snow around will slow down the charging speed of the Snow Golems

"Young Master, I have a spell that can help me escape but I cannot leave you here. I'll hold them off until you escaped first before using my trump card!"

As expected, it was too easy to deceive Kence. The youth was worried that if he remained here, his guard wouldn't be able to use his trump card and die. For his guard to become safe, Kence needs to leave!

Kence was about to run away before he saw his moon necklace glowed again. He ignored it but when Kence turned his back, he saw a pack of ten Ice Wolves

Since Kence cannot sense the level of these wolves, it means that their level is above his which made his face to turn pale

The Wolves opened their mouths and shot an icy breath towards Kence. The youth immediately retrieved another defensive rune on his spatial ring and activated it

A barrier surrounded his body and the icy breath pushed his body several meters from its original position

"Young Master!" The guard called out in panic and was about to run towards the youth but the Snow Golems already reached him

The guard was forced to use a speed-boosting spell and a defensive one at the same time. But even then, he still cannot get close to Kence as the golems are relentlessly attacking him

Kence saw this and take pity on the guard. He can't let the man die because of him!

With this in mind, instead of running down the mountain where the wolves will intercept him, Kence doesn't have a choice but to ascend higher in the mountain

As soon as he did this, the moon necklace glowed yet again and the Ice Wolves didn't chase him

Kence runs with his life literally depending on it. He even used a spell boosting spell and ignored all things in the world and only focuses on running

He didn't realize it that time but along the way, he didn't encounter any Magic Beast

Kence's body moved on its own and he runs in a certain direction. His legs and lungs were already on fire but he didn't stop

No matter how breathless he becomes, Kence continued running while not even looking at where he was going. The only thing on his mind was running, not realizing that something is affecting his mind

After some time, Kence saw a cave and he immediately runs towards it. Entering the cave, Kence's body finally gave out and his body fell on the ground as he panted the hardest in his life today

Due to the temperature, his breath turned into white fog. But the cold didn't make him uncomfortable at all, in fact, it was soothing his body

Kence wiped the sweat that formed on his forehead despite the cold temperature in his surroundings and turned to look at where he is

The ground of the cave also has some snow and ice on them. The cave's sides and top both have blue crystals on them that gave off a faint blue light

Fortunately, those crystals are here. If not, the cave would be too dark for Kence to see anything

After recovering his breath, Kence was shocked to see his necklace glowing again and this time, it even floats and is pointing somewhere

Kence felt that the things that happened to him the past days and now are all because of this necklace. In curiosity, he stood up and walk towards where the necklace is pointing

The deeper Kence went inside the cave, the colder the temperature becomes and the richer the mana in the environment becomes

Kence unconsciously took a deep breath as the colder the temperature, the more comfortable his body is feeling

On his way, Kence was puzzled at why he didn't encounter any Magic Beasts. A place that has this rich mana is the favorite place of strong magic beasts as it can help them become stronger

Kence turned into many forks on the road that he already loses count of. He didn't even know how long he was walking but his curiosity won over him and he continued

When Kence finally reached his destination, he almost fell from such a great height. He lowered his head and saw a vast space below with a blue colored small pool

Kence felt that this area has the richest mana in the whole cave. The only problem was that his necklace is pointing at that pool but he's too high. He would surely die if he fell from such heights

The youth started thinking of a solution to his problem before he thought of something. Another Rank 3 defensive rune appeared on his hand and activated it

After the barrier formed around him, Kence stepped on the ground below him and run downwards to reach his destination. However, his footing was too steep and he soon loses balance and rolled down the cave

Fortunately, the barrier came in handy at that time as it protected him from any harm

If other Grand Knight mages knew of this, they would surely cough out blood. A defensive rune that they cannot afford was actually used in such a manner by a mere Magic Warrior, how can they not feel indignant?

A powerful rune, like that, can save their lives!

Kence fell below face first with his butt sticking in the air. He's just glad that there is no one around here to see such an embarrassing scene for him

The youth heaved a sigh of relief before realizing all he has done today. Only now did his actions today sinks into him

Why did he run as if he knows the area? And why did he even let his necklace guide him to this place without knowing the danger level?

Kence looked at the necklace that is still pointing at the blue pool not far from him. The only thing he knows is that he might get his answer on that pool

Kence cautiously walked towards the pool but nothing suspicious happened even after he reached the edge of it. However, his necklace still urging him to continue walking

"You want me to enter that pool?" Kence silly asked an inanimate object. When Kence realized that he just asked the necklace a question, his face turned red in embarrassment

He was really thankful now that there is no one here except for him. If not, they might think that he loses his mind

Kence dipped his foot on the water on the pool and felt that it was the coldest thing he has ever felt his whole life. But even then, it didn't make him feel that it will freeze him to death. It was still as comfortable as before

Seeing that the liquid didn't freeze or have any negative effect on him, Kence started submerging his body in the pool

But his necklace still wants him to continue as if it wants him to reach the middle area of the pool

Kence decided to just do what the necklace wants to finish this and walked deeper. From the feet level, the water level rose until it reaches Kence's neck

There is a strange force that has Kence continue but after taking another step, the pool turned too deep and covered the whole body of the youth

Kence is quite short for his age and the pool was actually higher than his height. The youth's eyes widened in shock as he forgot one thing

He doesn't know how to swim! He doesn't have a memory of taking a swim

If only Kence have his original memory, he might remember running around the small lake on the Enchanted Star Realm and do the same here

However, since Kence doesn't have that memory, he panicked and started struggling for air

Fortunately, it didn't take too long for his necklace to perform a miracle

The necklace glowed with a blinding light and the surrounding liquid in that strange pool entered it

Kence can feel vast amounts of mana was being sucked by the necklace and the level of 'water' surrounding him instantly lessened

It only took a few seconds for the necklace to absorb such a huge amount of liquid!
