"If you want to fail the exam then go back there and have yourself bound by the vines again" Calter said in a bad mood. It was too rare for him to show 'kindness' yet this youth was being this 'hardheaded'

Kence can only shut his mouth as he doesn't know how to refute. He knows that the 'pervert' helps him but the thought of Calter being a pervert towards other people irritated him a lot. That caused Kence to always give Calter an attitude that he normally doesn't have

Calter raised the side of his lips in a mocking way when he saw that Kence wasn't able to answer him before looking at what is happening with the vines

More vines gathered on the rune in the ground and it formed a vine monster. The monster has a round body but around it were clustered vine tentacles

It has an area where there are no vines and it looks like that was its eyes and is black in color. Below the pair of eyes were its mouth and teeth that were also composed of vines that have sharp ends

"Ready your speed-boosting spell!" Calter said in 'concern' that he doesn't know why he has. "I-I don't take orders from perverts!" Kence replied

The youth becomes petty when it comes to Calter. He was mad that he wasn't able to refute Calter's earlier words making him this stubborn

Calter let out a frustrated breath. Even with how much his mind is angry, his body and heart still won over him. Calter swears that after this, he should get as far away from Kence as possible. He can't let someone continue affecting him to this extent

"[Dark Summon Magic: Skeleton Warriors!]" Calter placed his hand on the front of him and a summoning circle appeared below it

Kence's eyes flashed with astonishment at that. Summoners are rare and they are highly regarded!

From the summoning circle, two skeleton warriors emerged and both of them are Rank 1 Creatures. Calter doesn't want to show much of his capabilities but he can sense that this vine monster is very powerful

Calter readied his sword and coated it with his magical power. If it's just him, he wouldn't be too worried. However, he can't take the thought of Kence getting injured by the monster

"Just stay back behind me!" Calter ordered but Kence refused. The youth felt like he was being belittled, he hates it the most when people took too much of extra care of him as if he was a child (not realizing that in some ways, he is really like a child)

"Don't underestimate me!" Kence replied before activating his magic. "[Ice Magic: Ice Bullets!]" With a wave of his hand, Kence made more than ten blocks of ice around him

Each of these ice was packed with more coldness and hardness. Kence already has some progress in his Frozen Heart Art. His ice now is even more powerful than the ones that use the Cold Blue Kingdom's Royal Family's Cultivation Art

Kence controlled his ice and they went to attack the vine monsters. The monster issued an inhuman growl before it uses its vine to slap the ice away

The ice managed to make small cuts here and there while freezing small parts of the vines but they were not powerful enough to give the monster heavy injuries

Kence's ice power might be stronger now but the vine monster is also strong!

Seeing this, Calter can only shake his head. He gave a mental command to one of the skeleton warriors to stand close to Kence and protect the youth

If Calter goes against what his body and heart minds, that would just lower his combat prowess

The remaining skeleton warrior charged at the vine monster with the sword in his hand. The sword was also covered with black aura but is still weaker than Calter's own

"[Darkness Style: Dark Blessing]" Calter's body was covered with a black light before he jumped in the air and slashes the vine monsters with his sword

The monster might have been dealing with multiple enemies but the number of vine tentacles it has is way more than the enemies

Calter and the skeleton slashed and slashed their swords on the enemy causing strands of vines to fall to the ground. However, the amount they cut paled in comparison to how much vines the vine monster has

"[Ice Magic: Freezing Fog!]" A cloud of icy blue fogs formed in Kence's palm and he threw it to the enemy. Some of the vines near the skeleton warrior immediately froze

Calter doesn't want to be distracted but he can't help but feel bitter in his heart. Why is the skeleton he summoned was treated better than him? Kence actually helps a mere skeleton rather than him!

Calter was irritated at that and more dark energies coated his sword. "[Dark Magic: Phantom Slash!]" A black sword slash was generated by Calter's sword and it cut yet another group of vines

The vine monster screech and its body glowed with a green light. The vines suddenly become more durable and it became harder to cut them

The young master frowned at that, if he went all out, he was sure that he can defeat this vine monster but the problem was that he can't!

Calter is also becoming impatient as he feels like Kence would get hurt if he doesn't kill the vines soon. "Should I use Karami?" Calter asked himself before throwing that thought aside

Calter is sure that no one will recognize Karami but as of now, the only ability it has was a clearer vision, the ability to see mana, and the Endless Darkness. Even if Calter took away the vine monster's sense of vision, he still doesn't know how to kill it

Most monsters like this one have a main core but the problem was that Calter doesn't know where it was located. "I need to locate the core first" Calter muttered and his sword was suddenly covered with black flames

"[Dark Magic: Shadow Flames!]" Caizher slashed his sword all over the vine monster and the residual flames continued burning the enemy

The young master's eyes turned sharp. Too bad that he can't get close to the monster's body because of the numerous vines

Calter was pushed back as he needs to escape from the area he was in due to how many vines are there

Suddenly, Calter sensed something and saw that his summoned skeleton already died, this made things harder for him

Kence retrieved four sharp throwing knives from his spatial ring and they hovered around him. He then poured icy energy on them and the image of a bird's head formed on the knives

"[Ice Magic: Bird Assault!]" Kence controlled the knives and they flew towards the vine monster's main body. The monster uses its vine to stop the knives but they were all cut

Even then, the knives started losing their strength the more vines they cut. After some time, the knives reached the vine's main body and half of its blade penetrated the vine

Green juices leaked out from the wounds but compared to its whole body, Kence's attack wasn't able to do much

"Should I continue or not?" Calter started pondering the situation. The vine monster was more powerful than he expected. He even wondered if the vine can be defeated by the examinees

If even him (at the power he can show) and Kence was having this kind of trouble, then what more if the other examinees encountered this vine?

Calter summoned tens of Rank 0 skeletons to buy some time for him and he went to where Kence is. "Use a speed-boosting spell, let's get out of here. That monster is too powerful" Calter expected that Kence will agree but the youth just gave him another round of bad attitude

"I said don't give me orders!" Kence replied before being guilty at the way he was acting. Calter doesn't have time for this causing him to resort to using 'threats'

"If you don't do as I said, I will kiss you!" Calter threatened while looking at Kence's red, moist, and kissable lips. Somehow, Calter felt like he wants Kence to disagree with him again so that he'll have an excuse to kiss those sinful lips

Calter's sense of danger suddenly vanished just because of Kence's lips!

The youth's face was covered by surprise. His heart leaped from his chest at the thought of being kissed by Calter before it was replaced by another round of anger

Just like what Kence thought, this man is really a pervert! Kence knew it and he was 'right'

He doesn't know that he was only half right. Calter can be considered a pervert but only towards Kence!

Kence 'feared' being kissed by a pervert and he surprisingly obeyed. Calter should have felt happy at that but he felt the opposite

Calter thinks that Kence despises kissing him that much. He already loses count of how many times Kence angered him yet he cannot do anything about it

"[Ice Magic: Ice Blessing]" blue lights covered Kence's body and Calter focused on the more important thing. "Go run!"

As Kence really feared that he would be kissed by a pervert, he immediately poured strength on his legs to run

Calter looked at the vine monster approaching him while killing his summoned creatures before summoning more cannon fodders

The young master started running too while summoning five skeletons at a time. He was simply a genius when it comes to using magic

Most mages cannot run and use spells at the same time. There are some that can do that but they find it hard and would only do it when they don't have a choice

But this Calter is different, he runs and summoned skeletons as if it was the easiest thing to do in the world

The skeletons slowed down the vine monster as it was forced to kill the summoned creatures first or else, they will continue cutting its body

Calter sigh when he saw that he and the monster's distance was getting far when his eyes widened in shock. Some of the vines of the monster turned into snake-like things and detached itself from the main body

Tens of snake-like vines crawled in the ground. Their speed was too fast that the Rank 0 skeletons cannot do anything about them

Calter was about to use another spell when a fog of icy light flew out and landed on the ground. The smooth ice made things hard for the snakes as they can't crawl as fast as before

"I told you not to underestimate me!" Kence said proudly while puffing his chest to Calter. He looks like a kid boasting about his small achievement

"Why have you stopped running?" Calter asked in dissatisfaction. How can he fight properly when this youth is here? The youth's presence was just distracting Calter as he constantly gets worried for him

"Y-you! I-I hate you!" Kence shouted grumpily before running again

Calter chuckled unconsciously when he saw how childish Kence is. Calter is not fond of babies and children as for him, they are stupid and annoying. However, he doesn't know what Kence has to make him like the youth's childishness

Calter just shakes his head at that and continue running while summoning skeletons on the way

The academy staff watching their exchange didn't know whether to laugh or cry. The two looked like a pair of dog and cat in a fight yet they were able to pull their distance from one of the exam's hardest traps

The trap looks simple at first. It would just bind the examinee and tickle them. But if someone cut the vines and free the examinee (or the examinee itself was able to free theirself) only then would the real trap reveal itself
