At the City Lord's Magic Tower, Otto just finished talking to Nan about the assassination attempt. His face flushed with both worry and anger. Nan didn't hide any details on him and learned that his disciple was almost killed

In Otto's heart, Kence was not as important as Caizha but no matter what, Kence is still his true disciple. In this world, the relationship between the teacher and student can grow to even surpass the real parent and child relationship

Although the two didn't known each other for a long time but they are still a pair of teacher and student. Otto, naturally cared a lot about his disciple

Otto gave quick orders to his subordinates to prepare for departure to the Sternix Clan using the sound transmission stone. His tone was severe and everyone knew that the City Lord is not in a good mood. They hurriedly prepared for a carriage without daring to delay

What a joke, a Grand Knight Mage's anger is something they cannot take!

Otto's aura turned violent from his mood and the already low temperature inside his room turned even lower

In the next room to his, Caizha was sitting in a meditative position. Even this deep at night, she still continued to work hard on her cultivation

Her and her master's room was only separated by a thin wall and Caizha can sense the disoriented aura in the next room. Otto greatly valued Caizha, he didn't have a child and treated the young woman with utmost importance

He designed their room to be like that so that it was easier to protect her disciple

Caizha naturally also treated her master with utmost importance and was worried for her current master's state. Although she was still sulking at Otto for something, she still went out of her bed and walked on the room next door before directly entering

She saw her master with a grave face and was tidying himself. "Master...." Caizha called out with that sweet voice of hers

Otto turned his back to look at the young woman and sighed on his heart. Caizha was sulking at her because three days ago, he didn't let her attend the Banquet in the Sternix Clan

This was because he didn't want her disciple to have much interactions with Calter. The young man who was like mystery box to this woman. A mystery box that filled her with curiosity and will unknowingly draw to it and there's a high chance she will fall in love with Calter before she even realizes it

"I need to go in the Sternix Clan today, a failed assassination attempt happened there"

Although Caizha's face remained impassive but the violent trembling of her eyes didn't escape Otto's eyes

Caizha's heart started beating crazily and thought of the man who wasn't even fazed by her beauty even for just a bit. The thought of that man getting hurt somehow made her uncomfortable

"Was anyone hurt?" Caizha asked in a neutral tone. But deep inside her, she wants to know if Calter was hurt

Otto knows the myriads of thoughts swirling around his disciple, although she asked as if it was not a big deal but for him it was clear that the question can be translated as "Is Calter hurt?"

"Apparently, it seems that Calter was the target but Kence saved him. Your 'Junior brother' used his life to protect Calter, he's now injured and hasn't regained consciousness yet"

Otto said emphasizing the words 'junior brother' he is really worried that the classic story of betrayal because of jealousy over a man will happen between his two disciples. Just thinking of it gave him a headache and he didn't want it to happen

Caizha subtly clenched her fist but still showed only little emotion on her face. She's not an idiot, in fact she's intelligent. A heroic act like that, how can one not fall for that?

Calter and Kence already have a somewhat couple like relationship. But now, Kence saved Calter's life, that's a debt of life that one will never be able to repay. The chances of Calter leaving Kence for another man or woman was too slim

"If junior brother is hurt, we must visit him" Caizha threw her thoughts at the back of her mind. She's still a senior sister of Kence, although they don't have much of a deep intimacy but both of them were still under one master

She needs to treat Kence like how one will treat their junior brothers. No matter how much dissatisfaction she felt for Kence sometimes, she's still a sane and a clear-headed woman. She won't stoop too low

Otto furrowed his brows and was quite in a dilemma. Caizha's words makes sense and it was sensible of her to visit Kence. But in the Sternix Clan, she will naturally saw Calter and Otto wants her to have as lesser as contact as possible to the man

In the end, Otto still nodded his head. It was a basic courtesy for a senior sister to visit her injured junior brother

"Let's get going. The servants must be done preparing the carriage"

Caizha nodded her head and the two head to the outside of the manor where an extremely luxurious carriage was park. Unlike the carriage that the City Lord normally used which was simple and doesn't fit his status. This one was adorned with all sorts of decorations that flaunted one's enormous wealth

As the City Lord, if he wants to visit other cities or make a personal contact to the Enchanted Alliance, he needs a carriage that is suitable for someone like him to give respects to the huge figures

Along the way the two didn't talk much as the City Lord hatefully thinks at all the Nobles that might be the mastermind. He thought, he already showed his power again and will make the Nobles behave but they still dared to act like this

He swears that after he's done dealing with the paperwork for buying the rights of a part of Thousand Beasts Forest, he will give these Nobles a good lesson

He also blamed himself a bit in this incident as he realizes things. Nan was the only guard he prepared for his disciple and Calter. Magic Knights can take not sleeping for some days but eventually, fatigue will overcome their body and lower their capabilities

It was not surprising that someone will use that to their advantage and launch an assassination attempt

He can't help it though; he was really busy. He's only a small figure and his importance in the Alliance was low making the process slower and much harder

Arriving at the front of the Sternix Clan, the guards hurriedly opened the door at seeing such a luxury carriage. They are already informed that the City Lord will come to their Clan and didn't dare cause any trouble or make Otto dissatisfied

Back in the room, Calter is currently sitting in the bed next to Kence's body while stroking the latter's hair gently. He wants to clean Kence's body from blood and keep Kence in a new clean room but his pettiness overcome him

He doesn't want other people to see the body that only belonged to him and he has plans which made him unable to relocate into a new room

Suddenly, the ice wall that Nan erected parted revealing an opening and two human figures can be seen outside. As the City Lord is also an ice mage, it was easy for him to manipulate the ice that Nan made

All the people in the room stood up and straightened their bodies when they saw the City Lord before bowing respectfully at him. The only exception was Calter who still sat on Kence's side but still shot Otto a slight bow

Otto waved his hand indicating them to stop, he really didn't like too much formalities. The way these people bow at him were too humble and subservient

It was better if they showed him the basic respect but not too over the top like this. These people were too afraid of making him angry which made him annoyed

Otto ignored the other people around and walked on Kence's side. Seeing the originally full of vitality skin that Kence has turned pale from the blood loss made Otto's heart to ache

Caizha who was on Otto's side sneak a peek at Calter whom she didn't saw for quite some time. There was still some blood on his face and other parts of his body but somehow it made Caizha to think that Calter is really to manly. That savage looks of his just add up to his manliness

But seeing how Calter didn't stopped gently stroking Kence's hair gave Caizha a sour feeling

"I'm sorry, I should have prepared more security for my disciple" Otto said while regret crawled on his heart. The innocent kid is now pale and unconscious partly because he didn't arrange better security

"This is not the City Lord's fault. It was my Clan who was lacking security and caused this to happen" Narry immediately said. What a joke, this is the City Lord talking and it was not really his fault

Calter shook his head before looking at Kence's face. "Father is right. This is not the City Lord's fault, I'm the one at fault here. Kence used his life to protect me from the assassin that someone I might have offended hired"

Calter said through clenched teeth. He was full of blame for himself

"That's why I hope the City Lord can do me a favor and cooperate with my Clan. I'm prepared to use the favor in our agreement now" Calter said with full of seriousness. For him, no amount of favor will eclipse Kence's well-being and he will make sure that anyone who harm his beloved will taste true pain before leaving this world

Otto sighed on his heart. He thought that Calter wants him to exterminate the Clan that did it. He just hoped that it isn't a Marquees Clan that is a pillar of the City. But Calter's next words betrayed his thoughts

"I hope the City Lord can do some things for me and let me borrow an item" Calter said and the City Lord narrowed his eyes intending to listen for more details

"I need an item that can conceal my cultivation base. As long as it works for Magic Knights and below it will suffice"

Otto was surprised as he can't think why Calter will ask for such a thing but nonetheless took an item from his spatial ring

It was the same mask that he and Caizha uses, actually it was the one he uses for himself to alter his appearance. Not only it can alter one's appearance but it can also hide one's cultivation base and is effective from mages at and below Magic Knights

Although the mask only worked for Knights and below but its price will shock anyone. Knight Rank after all is the second most powerful cultivation realm, any items effective for them was bound to be expensive

The City Lord handed the item to Calter and the youth calmly accepted it. "I also request the City Lord to spread the news of me being seriously injured and I need at least mont0h to recuperate"

Hearing this, the City Lord has some ideas of what Calter's plan is and he nodded his head

"To make it more realistic, I want to stay in the City Lord's Manor until before my fight with the Shan Clan and Kence will stay for me there. I don't think it's safe for him to remain here" Calter said coldly feeling some dissatisfaction at his own home Clan's security

This caused Narry and Emily's face to turn red from embarrassment

"Is the Shan Clan the one behind this?" Otto asked and Calter shake his head. "We still don't know and speaking of that. I'll take the assassin to the City Lord's manor. I hope you can prepare a room for him and one that is sound proof" Calter said with malice on his last sentence

Hearing the words 'sound proof' how can Nan not realize why Calter requested for such a room when he witnessed the scene from before. He can't help but look at the frozen assassin on the side with pity while thinking 'Brother, you can only blame yourself for provoking such a demon'
