Magic With You

Time goes by, Kence and Calter was too focused on their own world to notice what is happening around them. Kence was busy daydreaming about the time when he was still with his master. Calter on the other hand was embarrass. He thought that Kence was staring at him too intensely, not knowing that the youth's mind already wanders around

Calter can't focus on other things as he was conscious at being stared by his beloved. When the two regained their sense, the next thing they saw was Caizha exiting the room

It's does not look like a childish girl storming outside angrily. Caizha didn't run or walk too fast but it seems like her disagreement with the City Lord deepened. Visible at how ugly Otto's current face is

The two youths didn't speak another word out of respect to the City Lord. They waited for the old man to sort his feelings and kept the silence inside the room

After some time, the City Lord sigh and turned at the other two people around. "I apologize for such a scene"

Kence blushed in embarrassment and wished that the ground will open up and eat him. He's embarrassed as he really didn't know what happened after he zoned out. But of course, he can't let his teacher to know that he doesn't have any idea at what happened at all

"N-No need to worry about it, Teacher" Kence is really too thin skinned and forced himself to lie like that.

Calter on the other hand has a face as thick as a book! He just shook his head as if it was nothing although he's the same as Kence that doesn't know what happened

Otto nodded his head. "Alright. I'm sorry for wasting your time here. If you don't need me for anything, I'll leave now"

Kence shook his head. Originally, he wants to consult to his teacher what happened to him. Not only was his comprehension talent and cultivation speed receive a boost. But he is also wondering why he can endure the cold outside the tower!

Not just endure, but he feels as if it was his playground, he even managed to build a snowman using his bare hands! However, Kence knew that his teacher and senior sister has a very close relationship. Otto might not be feeling good now that he and his disciple had a disagreement

"I actually have something that will need the City Lord's help" However, Calter doesn't have time to be some Mr. Goody goody. Raising his strength and the forces under him matters a lot to him. Since Otto's life was not in any threat now, Calter decided to push his needs first even if the City Lord is not in a good mood

Otto nodded his head and asked "What is it?"

Before Calter spill the beans, he first turned his head on Kence's direction. But his eyes were not looking at Kence's face at all, Calter was just looking at the former's side

"Can you go back in our room first?" Calter asked. However, his tone was not the same tone that he always uses with Kence. As of now, even Otto feels that something is amiss. He never saw Calter use that kind of tone to Kence before

Kence was taken aback, his master never hides things on him before but now...

It seems like Calter is really angry at him for something. Kence wants to apologize but he's afraid that he might done something really bad for Calter's attitude on him to have a drastic change

The youth can only pitifully nod his head while biting his lower lip and turned around to exit the room. What Calter didn't know was that a drop of tear escaped from Kence's eyes as soon as he turned around

Kence is really hurt and afraid now. He so badly wants things to be the same as before but he doesn't know how. If he really did something bad that his master cannot forgive him... that thought made the youth to shudder from fear

Contrary to what Kence is thinking, Calter didn't ask him to exit the room because he is angry or what. In fact, it was Kence that should be angry to him. Besides, even if he didn't decide to avoid Kence for the time being, he would still ask the youth to go out for now

What Calter needs to say to the City Lord is not something he would be proud of. For him, as a mage it is just a normal thing. But for the innocent Kence, it would be different

"What is it?" Otto asked as his mood is really not good now. But knowing Calter, this matter shouldn't be a small one

"I need prisoners" Calter still has some considerations to the City Lord. He didn't beat around the bush and directly said what he needs to

"Why do you need prisoners?" Otto asked in confusion. Every City naturally has their own prison full of evil and wicked people. Why does Calter even need them?

"I need humans for my experiment" Calter simply answered as if it was nothing

Hearing this, Otto understood. In fact, it was not uncommon for mages to buy prisoners. Even if it sounds inhuman, but to those who pursue the path of power no one of them have clean hands

Besides, they will only use prisoners. These prisoners are evil and some are even sentence with death or lifetime imprisonment. Why would mages waste these people's lives?

Killing innocents or committing too much massacres are prohibited. But mages still need human guinea pigs for their experiments. They can't just easily use innocent people's lives, then what kind of people is the best candidate for guinea pigs?

Naturally, it was the prisoners! Using them will not arouse too much hatred. In fact, some people will even thank them for 'punishing' such evil people

Even Otto sold prisoners before and he wasn't shock that there would come a day that Calter will need such guinea pigs. But he was shock that it's actually this soon. Although Calter's strength and means were abnormal but he's still only a Level 4 Magic Apprentice!

Only some Magic Warriors will do human research but only Knights and Grand Knights really focused a lot on it. Magic Warriors and Apprentices still has shallow level of knowledge after all and might not even achieve anything remarkable

"Isn't it too soon?" Otto asked. Calter naturally understood what the City Lord meant and decided to say his second use for the prisoners and the most important of all!

"I plan to use them to build my own force" Calter answered causing the City Lord to frown

"Why them? If you want to nourish your own underlings can't you just recruit people from the City? With my help, talents will surely fight for you to get them" Otto is not being overconfident. With his help, talented mages will really come flocking and beg Calter to be his servants!

It was already known to the whole Soaring Magic City how much the City Lord cares for Calter. If they became Calter's servant who would dare to harm them? Harming Calter's servant is the same as slapping the young master's face! And slapping the young master's face also means that you slapped the City Lord in the face!

Thus, there would surely be a lot of people begging to be his servant!

Calter wasn't surprise that Otto's thinking is like this. For the old man what matters the most is cultivation talent! What's important is that you have the potential to become Magic Knight or even a Grand Knight

However, Calter has a different thinking. He became a rogue mage before and there is one thing that he realized. A genius opponent is not that scary. Those geniuses are fostered by their Clan to achieve their power and they mostly only have the talent yet lacking in experience

Calter encountered more danger before when facing opponents who doesn't have powerful backing. Those kinds of people will do all means possible to achieve their goals. Unlike the geniuses that always act like a book!

Those geniuses don't have much fighting skills and experience in life. What Calter needs are not the talented ones, but those who are good at using what little power they have!

Sure, in a direct combat a Magic Warrior will not be able to defeat a Magic Knight. But if the mage uses his mind, he can defeat mages that are more powerful than him. Whether it be using poisons, sneak attacks, using the terrain, or using a third party, the rogue mages will use everything they can!

That is the kind of people that Calter wants. Those geniuses will just panic if things didn't go their way and will think that there is no more hope if they encounter opponents above their level. Besides, who can say that there is no hidden gem among the prisoners?

Geniuses from Clans might be powerful but that is with the help of their Clan!

Also, loyalty is a must and Calter planned on making them take an oath through the God of Order.

However, Calter can't possibly say that the City Lord's thinking is a bit wrong. It's still true that there are true geniuses that are superior than weak yet vicious and evil people

"I need people who can think outside of the box, City Lord" Calter simply said and he didn't want to explain too much. If his force finished their nurturing period, he will give Otto a big surprise

As his mood is not that great, Otto just nodded his head and didn't asked too much question. "Okay, when do you need them?"

"Around a week from now and I prefer it if most of them are Darkness Type Mages" Calter answered. He's a former Grand Knight Mage after all and there's a chance that he can raise a mage that will reach his former Rank if he teaches them

Otto thought that Calter will need those prisoners as soon as possible and didn't expect that answer

"Alright. I'll have people deliver prisoners here" Otto said but Calter shook his head. "I'm planning to buy a property. I'll set it as my force's base"

"Alright. Just go look for Nan to help you. I'll go for now" Calter bowed a bit. If there is one mage that Calter really respected now, it was Otto

The old man is not like a normal Grand Knight. His mind and views are flexible and not stubborn like most old people. He also didn't like too much formalities and just talk like normal people. If others become a Grand Knight, they will surely put some airs in front of a mere Magic Apprentice

Otto exited the room and was taken aback that Kence is actually waiting outside. "Teacher" Kence greeted respectfully before his eyes went behind Otto where Calter is

The City Lord almost confirmed now that there is something wrong the two but decided to let them fix their own things. "Hm. I'll see you later to help you in your cultivation"

"Thank you, teacher" Kence absent mindedly answer while his eyes were still locked on his master's figure

"Alright" Otto didn't know whether to laugh or cry because of his own disciple. He's in front of Kence yet the youth's eyes were focus on other people.

'Young people nowadays are so!!' Otto thought on his head before leaving the two on their own

Seeing his master exiting the room, Kence gritted his teeth before opening his mouth to speak. "Big Brother, are you hungry I will coo--" Kence wants to say he will cook for Calter but Calter cut him off and didn't gave him the chance to finish speaking

"I have matters to attend to. I need to leave for now" Calter said before walking away in a bit fast manner, leaving Kence's heart into broken pieces

He knew what he did was wrong but Calter cannot see Kence acting like this. The more Kence showed sadness after not being with him the more painful it becomes to Calter

Originally, Calter avoided Kence as he's afraid that the latter would get hurt again because of him. But now that he avoided the youth, it also hurt Kence!

Calter didn't know what to do anymore and did what most people will do in his situation and that is to run away! Although it is not a permanent solution but it would at least prevent people from confronting the hard reality

Calter might be smart but love is something that you cannot use intellect or logic. Sometimes, it will make you do things that you won't normally do like running away from problems

As soon as Calter turned his back, waterfalls appeared on Kence's eyes. The youth wants to stop crying but no matter how hard he tries the tears won't stop coming out from his eyes

He was hurt.... really hurt.... Kence can literally feel pain on his chest that suffocated him
