"Does Lord Blaze want to meet the esteemed mage? We can all go there together" As if Calter can read the man's thoughts, he immediately offered with the 'innocent' and 'sweet' smile of his

Blaze's expression darkened and clenched his fist. "That won't be necessary, I'll stop intruding for now and might visit again in the future" Without a choice, Blaze can only go back on his own City without accomplishing his goals

But of course, he wouldn't easily give up like this, he planned on investigating things first to make sure that a new Grand Knight was really born in the Soaring Magic City

As soon as Blaze exited the room, Calter's expression immediately changed and turned into a murderous one. He doesn't have the ability for now but he will make sure to kill that man in the future

"Thank you, you saved me" Otto said bitterly. Who would have thought that a time will come where in a Magic Apprentice will be able to give him such a huge help

"I only did what I need to do, City Lord. What's the deal with him anyway?" Calter asked as he wants to know what the root of this incident to plan ahead

Otto sighed before speaking "As you might have already know, Blaze is the City Lord of our neighboring City. He learned that I got a lot of benefits from the discovery of Tree Spirits. Of course, since I sold it to the Enchanted Alliance, he cannot force me to give him the benefits from it"

"However, he was still jealous. Fiery City has two Grand Knights with them and they can put pressure on me. As long as it doesn't affect much the balance of the realm, the Alliance won't interfere on worldly matters"

"Cities waging wars with each other are very common. Blaze wants to buy tree hearts from me but I refused. If I sell it to him, the other Cities will become jealous and more trouble will come knocking on me. That's why, I only planned on selling it to the Alliance"

Otto's Tree hearts might only be useful for Magic Apprentices but everyone will start at that rank! Sun Dew is extremely rare and even the City Lords can only buy maybe one or two every few years from the Alliance

To ensure that more powerful mages will born in their respective Cities, all the City Lords needs to nourish their younger generations

"With a steady supply of Tree Hearts, the younger generation of our City will have better foundation, increasing their chance to reach higher heights. That's why, Blaze is jealous and put pressure on me"

With Otto's long explanation, Caizher understand now the situation and started planning on his head

"Clashing with them now isn't a good thing. However, if we showed weakness, Blaze will surely continue putting pressure on us" Calter said and Otto nodded his head

Their City might have two Grand Knights now but the second one just broke through, even Otto can defeat a mage like that. Although it greatly lessened the pressure Blaze can give to them, but there would still be some that will affect them badly

"We need a show of power to buy some time!" Calter said while smirking. Seeing that familiar smirk, Otto started having a bad feeling about this

Every time that Calter will smirk like that, a plan that will make his enemies cry will surely come out from him

"What's your plan?" Otto asked curiously

"Nothing much, I'll just give them some trouble" Otto narrowed his eyes from this and waited for further explanation

"Fiery City has a mine of fire stones right?" Calter asked and Otto nodded his head. In his past life, after he killed Brony on his own, he fled to the closest city which is the Fiery City. He knew a bit about them

"I plan to have my slave attack some of the miners there. Of course, I wouldn't kill anyone as we can't infuriate them too much. Doing that is just enough to show that we won't back down and they will think twice before making a move on us"

Calter doesn't want to have the two cities wage wars for now, he just needs to scare them a bit

"Is that all?" Otto asked but Calter only smiled

"City Lord, can I have all the Magic Knights that are dark type mage in the prison?" Calter asked

"Why do you need all of them? Magic Knight prisoners are considered high quality goods for mages. We can profit a lot from selling them"

A City needs a lot of resources to continue nourishing its forces!

"I don't guarantee that I'll be able to help them become a Grand Knight, but if the numbers are high, there should at least be one of them that will break through"

"Fiery City put pressure on you today, but what if in the future we suddenly had one or more Grand Knights? We can ask for an 'explanation' for 'wronging' us today"

Otto now knew of Calter's plan and he can't help but praise the young man's mind

Putting a bit show of power will stop Fiery City from putting a pressure on them. While in the future, if they have more Grand Knights, they can benefit from the incident today by asking for an 'explanation' when a day comes that they can overpower the enemy

There was only one problem with Calter's plan though

"One of your slave might have become a Grand Knight today, but reaching this rank is very hard! Without advance magical knowledge, even in a group of hundreds of Knights, there might not be a single one that will break through"

However, instead of being discouraged, Calter retrieved another book from his spatial ring. It was the same one that he gave to all the Magic Knights that is enough to support them up to the Grand Knight Rank

Otto opened the book curiously. Even if he's not a Darkness Type mage he's still very knowledgeable! His expression changed from curiosity to shock and surprise

"T-this... h-how did you have something like this?"

"I'll give each Knight a copy of this manual. With this, at least one of them will become a Grand Knight, right?" Calter clearly expected this outcome. The greatest deterrent factor to become a Rank 3 Mage is magical knowledge! With that being solved, after decades or even hundred years, a mage can still improve their body and soul to the threshold of Grand Knights

"What?! You'll give this to all the prisoners?! How can you give something this important easily!"

Otto still has mentality of the old system where the strong will become stronger and the weak will he neglected. For Otto, only those who showed enough talent and proved themselves should be given something like this

The people's mentality is that if they want cultivation manuals, they must be talented enough or give a great contribution! But Calter has a different mentality

The easily replenishable resources like this must be given to the weak and they will give you some surprises! Those prisoners are all his slaves, his slaves' power is also his power! Why would Calter be stingy?

"If my slaves become stronger, it will only give us benefit, right?" Calter said simply

Although his words made a lot of sense, Otto still doesn't like such manuals to be given on those people without talent. But it was Calter's things and Otto wasn't in the position to interfere much

"Alright, I'll give them all to you" Otto just said to end this topic. He still can't accept that the prisoners will be given an opportunity like this

December 26 Year 9000

"Big Brother, are we there yet?" Kence asked to Calter. Today is December 26, only a few minutes from the next day

Narry adopted Kence before at December 27 and from then on, the youth's birthday become December 27

Calter being Calter, naturally wants to make Kence's birthday a very special one! The young master wants to start the celebration at exactly 12 in the morning!

Kence is currently blindfolded while being guided by his master. He felt that his birthday shouldn't be celebrated too much like this but how can Calter let that happen?

"Wait for some time first, I promised you'll like it!" Calter reassured and continue guiding Kence in a certain place

After a while, the two stopped and just stood there. Calter was looking at the watch on his palm and waited until the time finally arrived

At exactly 12 in the morning of December 27 Year 9000, Calter removed Kence's blindfold

The youth's vision was blurry at first but as soon as he recovered, he heard the sound of light explosion and light rays hit his face

Kence raised his head at where the light is coming from and saw the art in the middle of a dark night

Kence's eyes glowed with joy as he watched the fireworks show. At first the fireworks only started simple like scattered light but soon become even more beautiful

All sorts of shapes was made by the fireworks which made Kence more amazed as time passed

"B-Big Brother, it is beautiful!" Kence exclaimed and Calter nodded his head

"Yes, it is" Calter said but if Kence looked at his master that time, he will see that Calter didn't even look at the fireworks. The young master was just watching his amazed face with eyes filled with endless love

The fireworks continued and this time, the light formed words. The first letter is 'happy' followed by 'birthday' and lastly 'Kence'

After spelling those words one by one, a whole 'Happy Birthday Kence' appeared in the sky

Kence giggled at the sight as it filled his heart with endless warmth. Even with just those fireworks, he's already happy and contented on his birthday

However, the show doesn't end there. More fireworks flew in the sky and Kence was surprise that it formed his face. After his face, Calter's own also appeared in the sky and Kence looked at his master on his side

Kence saw Calter looking at him but he doesn't give it much thought. "Big Brother, look, it's you! You are so handsome there hehe!" Kence said happily and Calter nodded his head

Kence returned his gaze on the sky and this time, the sky was filled with him and Calter's images

There is one where Calter is hugging him from the back and front. There is also an image where Calter is playing with his hair or combing it

Most of the subtle sweet things that the two did were shown through the fireworks. The ending of it was Calter kissing Kence on the forehead

Calter originally planned the ending to be him kissing Kence on the lips but he's afraid. He's afraid that Kence would be shock from his sudden 'confession' and the youth won't know what to do

Calter doesn't want to ruin Kence's birthday and replaced the last scene with just a kiss on the forehead

However, the body of the two stiffened. Calter thought that the kissing forehead is the last display but it still has one more left!

It was Calter kissing Kence on the lips! Calter gulped at the sudden turn of events. He was sure that he threw away the kissing in the lips part plan, but why is it in the sky, now? Not only that, but this damn fireworks also remained in the sky for a longer time!

'Damn it! How can they be so stupid?!' Calter cursed on his mind and his stiff body slowly turned sideways to look at Kence. Calter can feel his whole body sweating, even his hands felt wet

He was afraid of what kind of reaction Kence will have. A person like Kence is someone that you should deal with in a painfully slow manner. It was easy to scare the youth if you come too strongly on him

But that damn fireworks!

What the two didn't know that time was, in the place where Calter's men was setting the fireworks, a woman was laughing mischievously

"That's what you get for soloing Kence on his birthday!" Emily said while Narry's face on her side twitched

Just imagining how Calter will react with this made Emily satisfied and she can't stop herself from laughing. Her usually cold son is surely in a panic now!

'Sorry, Calter' Narry apologized to his son as he can't stop his wife in doing something like this
